  3. So are people implying that The City of Mason spent how many millions on a multi-year project that was completed the end of 2016 to improve Kings Island Drive only to allow the County to come in a few years later and rip it up for a new water line...that never happens (actually it happens unfortunately all too often where one form of government doesn't reach out to the other form of government, causing a road to be repaved one year only to be torn up the next for a water or sewer line).... Regardless, I do not see the City of Mason allowing KI Drive to be torn up this soon for a water line project. So the markers out there are either completely unrelated, or a stub for a future water line was put out there at the time, which would dictate the County potentially having to go thru the parking lot to get to Columbia Road. The survey is a work in progress, but some of the markings could be indicating that as a possibility - although that then means ripping up a portion of the newly installed pavement by KI heading to the new tolls...

  4. My son wanted Hanks. So I went with him. It actually looked good, and we were there. So I tried it again. The rice wasn’t crunchy!!! It was a really good option. Only real improvement/suggestion would be to offer fresh diced jalapeños... as there isn’t much spice ... and the canned jalapeños offered aren’t very appetizing. But overall, this was a great experience... so I retract my previous disappointment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Dominator/Knight Flight has one of the best layouts for a looping coaster. It is well paced. There are no back-to-back inversions except the 2 in the cobra roll (which is required for a cobra roll). There is a element between every inversion other than that. The ride however has gotten super vibrate-y over the last couple of years. KD needs to do a refurbishment on it.

  9. Based on the information we have the water line project is still in the design phase, they might have realized it’s a mistake placing a new water line next to a defunct road that passes through an amusement park. It’s very possible we are looking at the early stages of the county deciding if the water line should be moved, or they already reached that decision, etc. Its a bad idea to jump to too many conclusions based on what we have seen so far. Redoing the drop off lot is the very kind of project which a park would be delaying or cancelling due to the pandemic.

  10. All the trucks were in the parking lot! I think the decor on I-Street is pretty darn similar to last year. Plus, let’s not forget that the event is a few weeks away so this likely isn’t the final product. The new stages look pretty cool though.

  11. If I could describe this coaster in one word, its graceful. It does have a few intense moments at the bottom of the first few drops as its doing pull outs at 90 mph, but for a larger portion of the ride, it was very smooth and graceful as it went element to element, and it still had a good sense of speed throughout. The thing I like about the 2nd and 3rd hills is that they're steep enough to lose sight of the horizon, so when you do those flashy high banked turns that high, it really gives a good sense of disorientation and a sense of flying, which helps that its painted in that awesome shade of blue. Add in some cool negative G shenanigans and you have 2 really solid hills following the first drop. Has some decent pops of air on the camel backs, and a really good one on the hill after the helix. The helix is pretty steady on the positive G's. I was bordering on grey out, but not quite up to Banshee's curves. It feels like a condensed version of Millennium Force. Very good coaster overall. I'll be making up for my ride count of 2 next summer.

  12. Had a great day for what is likely my only visit in 2020 and last until opening day next year in all likelihood. I was incredibly impressed with how well everything worked out given their hardships getting the park open this season. Moreso that they got pretty much all the rides open, which a few other parks have left some rides closed for various reasons. The staff was very much on their A game both in getting efficiency out of lines and food orders and keeping the virus policies in place. I think every park should model their policies on Kings Island's and Cedar Point's. Basically I hit all the coasters except Invertigo and Backlot, but I also missed Racer as it was down all day for some reason. The only non-coasters I did was WindSeeker and KI&MVRR. I didn't go quite fast as I haven't gotten out much this summer so I wasn't used to the heat and such (it was very hot and humid today). Made a bee-line to Orion and just meandered about riding the rest. Seeing Coney Mall minus Vortex was a huge punch to the gut, especially since that's all I've known since I've ever been to the park. Its a big hole to fill. I did appreciate the face lifts they did with the paint on the CM games and Scrambler, Dodgems and Zephyr look great. FL+ was a savior today. 13. Coaster lines are long. Currently in a (supposedly) 50 min line for Mystic Timbers. According to the app, Orion is 90 min, Beast 60. My plan of many night rides is foiled. Thankful to be at KI with my family though. White Water Canyon was a sweet walk-on, with great views of Mystic.

  15. Lockers should just be a flat $10 like Holiday World and Dollywood and be traveling lockers like Dollywood. So much more convenient that way. Or offer King's Islands 1 dollar an hour lockers in the water park. There has been so many times I have passed up water park at Cedar Fair parks due to not wanting to pay 16+ dollars for a few hours of water park fun.

  17. I think a skyride connecting Oktoberfest and Coney Mall would be great. I would move/remove Slingshot and the ladder game and use those pads for either a new flat (Der Spinning Keggers?) or a skyride station. Think you could rework the marketplace in that spot and put in a new building with a Bavarian style (and rework the outside of Hank's with the same style) that has an market on ground level and skyride station above it, then use the space of the ladder game for the queue line. it would extend then along the Coney Mall walkway to the far end with a station that is in a Victorian style similar to Vortex's old station. These couple changes would help to expand Oktoberfest with two new rides and increased themeing and pay homage to Vortex.

  18. There's a website I found that talks about the making of the attraction. Here's something it says. "Even though Smurfs Enchanted Voyage was a boat ride, Kings Island decided it was too much upkeep and maintenance to keep a boat flume attraction running properly. Once the Phantom Theater concept was agreed upon, the building was gutted and it was decided they would use an omnimover-style system similar to Disney’s Haunted Mansion, which was also developed by Morgan Manufacturing." It also says, “Kings Island wanted something to replace the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage at the end of the 2001 season,” recalls Bastrup. “We discussed several ideas, but ultimately decided on the Phantom Theater. A lot of that had to do with the popularity of the Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical ‘Phantom of the Opera’ which was extremely popular.” Here's the website:The making of Kings Island's Phantom Theater

  19. Then it would be better to limit the number of fast lanes sold rather than throttle the Fast Lane line. Nowhere does the Fast Lane have fine print that says beware if used to much we will throttle your Fast Lane use.

  20. Theming won me over on Orion from the very start. I’m a huge sci-fi/Star Wars/Mass Effect/Expanse fan, so when that theming was shown off I was instantly sold. Plus, I’m more into elements than just airtime, so I definitely go for Orion’s wave turn and helix. I really don’t think one could claim to be the best over the other, though. They’re both unique and really cater to which kind of ride you’re wanting.

  21. Even when it was in its last season of 2009 IPs like Wild Thornberries, Rugrats, and even ones like Jimmy Neutron were slowly being forgotten. I have little ones in my family who never seen Danny Phantom, Hey Arnold, Avatar, and other classic Nick shows. If the Nickelodeon license was renewed, we'd still have Spongebob and The Fairly Odd Parents but you'd also have a ton of modern shows that aren't super familiar Whether you like them or not, the Peanuts are a timeless IP that is multigenerational. Most of the Nickelodeon shows we grew up with were products of their time much like how Yogi Bear and George Jetson were products of our parent's time.

  22. Gotta remember, this was the same group that was so out of touch that they thought no one would notice if they cut almost all midnight closes in their pre-pandemic schedule. Then Tweeted promoting night rides. As in, people would want that. Ya thank? People don’t care about being there at night, but as soon as they’re open until 10:00 they have their first non-humiliating crowds of the season? Ya think? Perhaps if anyone in marketing besides Don spent any time in the park they’d know the sh-t they’re trying to sell. Ya think? The arrogance out of that place is astounding sometimes. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m actually rooting for layoffs. I think a clean sleight is the only solution.

  23. There’s now more markers by the exit lanes. I’m thinking it could be an possible expansion of ki drive or redesigned drop off lane. I’m curious why it would be redesigned, unless they figure an increased number of large vehicles.
