  1. It takes a lot of bulldozing and grading to build something like this, the original KI campground was pretty light on trees at first too, and for that matter so was the developed part of the park itself. Give it some time to grow back in.

  3. It was pretty well grown in, prior to them bulldozing all of it. They installed a second entrance/exit off of Columbia road in the past few weeks as well. I would love to have one of those spots right next to the McDonald's Truck Parking Lot. I've heard that is a common overnight stay area for some local lot lizards.

  4. I usually drive about 2 miles down the road and stay at the Best Western when I'm planning on staying more than one day. It is a nice clean older hotel that is usually under a 100 a night.

  5. Not sure if anyone commented on it or not, but it appears 5 of the cabins are already on the street there ready to be placed. I guess that's maybe where John Matarese was able to stand in front of one for his segment. Cool to see. I'm sure some land movement was required, but it is always disappointing to see projects go with the "scorched earth" method for construction. Even saving a mature tree here and there, saving SOME terrain too, would make a huge difference, especially with it being right along a highway, McDonald's and parking lots. Also, I'm sure there's bigger money in trailer and cabin camping but it's always a bummer to see tent camping ignored. Nonetheless, I'm very excited to see a KI campground return after all these years. Removing the previous incarnation way-back-when always felt ill-advised and short sighted. It had a nice location and I always felt an upgrade would've been better. But great news to see this, especially with cabins like at CP!

  6. A very big missed opportunity. We like to tent camp and if we do end up tent camping near KI it will be the KOA in Lebanon. Having tent camping sites closer to the park might have brought us over for longer stays. More than likely it will be more just day trips for us.

  7. Are you kidding? It's a piece of roller coaster track that traveled BACKWARDS in time! Not only is it valuable from a coaster enthusiasts standpoint, it's important to the study of time travel! Nah, I think an increase in value is dependent on how many were done like that. If it's all of them, then no change. If that's the only one like that, then that might change things.

  9. Agreed, the idea of Casacabel 2.0 coming to a park near me is really cool! I've never ridden a shuttle loop, so that should be fun! If this ends up being true, Indiana Beach will be on my list of parks to visit in the near future.

  10. Not inversion breaking, but breaks everything else. I think it'd be a good fit.

  11. I don't understand how so many of you are upset over the land clearing of trees but Cedar Fair with their rides have done it for years with their new attractions.

  13. Ikr. It seems WCPO has been having him do all the Kings Island news reporting lately. Probably because of how much attention he got when he did his story on the SOB rumors (before KMAA was announced). He then has done almost every Kings Island related story since. People who were on here during the Orion decoding thread connect me with John because I started sending him stuff through Facebook messenger and some people on here still clown me around on that.

  14. At first, I thought this guy had some sort of beef with the park because all of his videos and articles begin with "Don't Wa$te Your Money". It comes across weird.

  15. The murals on the rounding boards and on the central drum of the carousel were painted by Carole Lanter in 1969 when the ride was still at Coney Island. The restoration effort was supervised by Coney's special effects coordinator Dick Harsley and all 48 hand carved horses were repainted by Bill Tull. I attended the memorabilia sale at Coney Island on September 26, 2020 and purchased a photo of Carole Lanter repainting one of the murals during the restoration. You can also find this photo in the book "Cincinnati's Coney Island" by Charles Jacques Jr. Top: Carole Lanter painting one of the oil murals on the carousel rounding board in 1969. Bottom: The same mural at Kings Island photographed by me on October 11, 2020.

  17. it looks absolutely dreadful. That was a full forest of trees and they removed all of them. The location behind fast food restaurants is equally as awful. Why not just park in the Walmart parking lot? This cannot be advertised as a luxury resort when it is nothing but a glorified parking lot.

  19. The only scene that isn't shown as much is the actual theater scene where the canon was -today its where the library is on Boo Blasters. This scene also had the audience members in the balcony and the it was always super dark so its hard to see on any video.

  20. Agreed, we like to tent camp and having that option would get us more consecutive day visits.

  21. They should offer some tent camping sites as well, I think you see a lot of people who would be interested in that at a lower cost, rather than be jammed in an area with a bunch of RVs.

  22. I tend to agree, I really, really enjoy Hangtime. The only thing I could see holding KI back on this would be capacity.

  23. If Kings Island were to place a Dive Coaster/Vertical Drop Coaster, I would want it to be a eurofighter like Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm. I've ridden Valravn at Cedar Point, and after a few more rides on it I quickly started to get bored of it.

  24. I hope not. I’d rather see another multi looping coaster take The Vortex’s old spot. A B&M floorless coaster like Dominator would fit that bill:
