  1. Lets always try to reference the source as much as we can. We know some coaster fan sites like to report things that have not been released by the park. https://www.sixflags.com/overtexas/attractions/aquaman-power-wave

  2. Would love it if they just abandoned the "Action Zone" facade and made the whole area Oktoberfest. Refresh AE with some new theming and lights + all the other non-Bavarian rides with "German" names.

  3. The subject is quite funny "Trailer includes Tram" Like they are selling a trailer which happens to come with a free tram car.

  4. Having operated all of the original KI rides that were still around when I worked at the park in the early 2000's, the Grand Carousel was on a different level. Even though it wasn't the biggest or most exciting ride, it was a joy to operate for hours at a time and take in the history and beauty. Do the ride operators still have a spiel that indicates the age of the carousel? I always enjoyed announcing that before the start of each ride cycle. The park has at least one extra horse and they would consistently have one in the shop, year round, refurbishing and repainting it. They had them all on a rotation. I don't know how many are original, but an educated guess tells me that it's the majority of them. (They don't build 'em like they used to). From my experience, the entire maintenance team really took pride in taking care of the carousel. For example, when the band organ would go out, they would lobby for the resources to get it back up and running. Which seems to still be a continuous battle. (That band organ is finicky and fixes can be costly and time consuming). The operations crew really took pride in it as well. I recall one of the supervisors would bring newspapers from home to clean the mirrors since they wouldn't leave streaks behind. Oh and the lights that were added during Winterfest are terrific!

  5. I personally find the current non-themed Action Zone appearance to be better than the old Paramount Action Zone even when it first opened. I feel like the old theming like the pavement in the center, the signage, and the colors used on the rides was a little tacky. I actually think Cedar Fair’s additions of the seating area, Banshee, and repainted rides have gone a long way. However, I think there are still parts of Action Zone like the area by Xtreme Skyflyer and The Bat that would benefit from a little bit of TLC.

  6. I think AZ looks fine, but to somehow bring all the rides together under one theme would be nice. Assuming Banshee and The Bat names would stay, Whar would everyone rename CF, DT, Delirium and Invertigo?

  7. Mystic River Falls was really a lot of fun. We went for two days at the start of August and had two rides. Not a soaker, but unique and super popular. Two hour wait during the peak of both days with one party per boat (max 8) due to distancing rules. It did break down a lot, we observed a party stuck near the top of the lift tower for about 30 minutes. That would have been interesting. It looked like it cost a fortune with the ride, theming and surrounding area.

  8. Just because they can does not mean they should. Plus, maybe OH has different guidelines than TN.

  9. In addition to the 1019 engraving, I have noticed how one of the cards that comes with the piece says Vortex featured two “verticle” loops. I think it’s funny, yet also a turnoff, especially for someone who’s a grammar perfectionist like me! But all that matters in the end is that many of my fellow Vortex fans were able to get a piece of a ride so special to us.

  10. Action Zone and Oktoberfest both need a lot of attention in their own ways, for Action Zone they just need a cohesive theme they partially did this in 2014 with Banshee and renaming flight deck to The Bat, and with Oktoberfest they just need to add some more attractions and restore the biergarten to its former glory

  11. I think one of the reason might be that Kings Island didnt do the taste of Christmas event would be because Governor DwWine threatened to close things down again. While ultimley it didnt happen but it would have been risky descion to invest in setting everything up just to have to have it shut down.

  12. Are you talking about this? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1120955158320770/ It doesn't reference KI, no identifying markings, and KI was not the only installation of that model monorail. Edit: This article seems to back up the claim that it is, indeed, a former KI cab obtained from Jungle Jim's. https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2020/12/12/in-the-front-yard-of-a-pinellas-park-home-sits-a-monorail-car-this-is-the-story-of-how-it-got-there

  14. Check this out. The original concept model for Phantom Theater. A true piece of history. Owner (who is not me) is entertaining offers. Seeking $300. PM me if interested and I will put you in contact with them. First come first serve unless someone is willing to pitch a higher offer.

  15. There's always certain rides that people want at their park: coasters, high thrill flat rides, family flat rides, etc. The rides you don't see a lot of demand for, however, are water rides. You don't see the GP or even enthusiasts say, "we need a new water ride" very often; if at all. Recently we've seen some water rides come to parks across the US like the Snake River Expedition at CP, Mystic River Falls at Silver Dollar City, and even the delayed Aquaman Power Wave at Six Flags Over Texas, but this has been arguably the most we've seen in a long time. So what happened? Have they lost their novelty amongst park guests? Have they become too maintenance heavy? Do they just require too much upkeep? Is the idea of getting soaked in the dry park unappealing? All of these questions can be answered but of course the big one remains.... "Are Water Rides Worth the Investment?"

  17. Action Zone and Oktoberfest are conveniently adjacent neglected areas. I'm staying with my previously posted opinion to merge AZ into Oktoberfest, and Bat/Banshee could be the Black Forest part of it. Then you'd have a good-sized, proper Oktoberfest like Busch Williamsburg.

  18. If they ever were to add back an ivy tunnel, I feel like that would be the best place for it. I don’t think one would work between Planet Snoopy and Rivertown like there used to be, but I could see one leading into Rivertown from that walkway behind the Eiffel Tower. They also already put up a temporary light tunnel there during Winterfest if I recall correctly, so why not install a permanent one?

  20. I voted Action Zone which I believe needs a complete overhaul. I think Oktoberfest is fine, but it would be nice if they added more flats and renovated the Biergarten. I think Coney Mall and Rivertown are fine, but I think Planet Snoopy is starting to show its age. I think the next area revamp will probably be a transformation of Planet Snoopy into Camp Snoopy. If we are talking smaller sections of the park, however, I think the walkway behind the Eiffel Tower needs a lot of love. Right now it is just cracked pavement with no trees. It would be nice if they added pavers back there and maybe added in a permanent large ivy tunnel.

  21. Mack is a German company, so they probably can't come to the US to even help build the thing. I also believe Mack ships from there as well a la Intamin.

  22. It's a bit presumptuous to assume that it being delayed to 2022 is because of a failing on Six Flags's part. It might be, or it might not be. There's a pandemic going on that has affected many things, for example.

  23. Part of me says, "wow, that's a rare collector's item." And another part says, "It cost $230 for a track piece and they couldn't even get the label plate correct?"

  24. It is out of view from the midways, I bet it will remain a haunt for quite a while. We have the old Crypt building that is in plain sight and they do not seem too concerned about that one.

  26. Because there is a third wave going on and numbers are surging in Ohio. With Winterfest, people gather close together for shows and waiting for rides. That’s the last thing you need during a pandemic.

  29. Are you kidding? It's a piece of roller coaster track that traveled BACKWARDS in time! Not only is it valuable from a coaster enthusiasts standpoint, it's important to the study of time travel! Nah, I think an increase in value is dependent on how many were done like that. If it's all of them, then no change. If that's the only one like that, then that might change things.

  30. The murals on the rounding boards and on the central drum of the carousel were painted by Carole Lanter in 1969 when the ride was still at Coney Island. The restoration effort was supervised by Coney's special effects coordinator Dick Harsley and all 48 hand carved horses were repainted by Bill Tull. I attended the memorabilia sale at Coney Island on September 26, 2020 and purchased a photo of Carole Lanter repainting one of the murals during the restoration. You can also find this photo in the book "Cincinnati's Coney Island" by Charles Jacques Jr. Top: Carole Lanter painting one of the oil murals on the carousel rounding board in 1969. Bottom: The same mural at Kings Island photographed by me on October 11, 2020.

  31. So funny thing and I wonder if this happened to anyone else, one of the pieces that I didn't send to my bud had a misprint on the engraving. the year is 1020 instead of 2020 lol

  34. So we should not get together with family and friends for maybe the last chance to see others? We will never know when we will be taken from this earth, but we are going to be threatened by the media that having a gathering will kill us. Please pay attention to the ones that are telling you that you can't gather. California governor disobeyed his order by having a party. Is there a danger? Yes, but protect to ones that are compromised. Wear masks around them if needed. But, for the most of us, we have a 99.98% or more chance of survival. Am I willing to give up my freedom for that? No. Be with family, it may be the last time. Protect them, but be with them. Now, back to the question I asked earlier as I was thinking someone here might have a definite answer about how many people have been infected at amusement parks. One person said probably zero, and I would believe that. Most parks are taking several protective measures, maybe more than needed, but why should the parks not open when they have the chance. It is time to open America back up. Let the parks open to no restrictions, but give the park the ability to do there own safety protocol. I have seen many complaining about Indiana Beach and their lack of safety, but if no cases have came from there, maybe there is something to that. If you don't feel safe, don't go. However, if we keep pushing the fear into everything, the middle class will be no more. This is my opinion, you are welcome to disagree. Just look at the things around you.

  35. I think this is Kings Island's way of saying "sorry" about the pandemic and how hard it's been on a lot of people. So Kings Island decided to say, "Okay, we understand the pandemic has been hard on a lot of people, so here's something for you to look forward to next year. This is our way of making up for anything we had to cancel this year due to the pandemic." It's nice that the park is trying to give us something new for next year. It looks very exciting and I can't wait for it to open next year!

  36. What's the point of the vaccine? So you don't get sick. Stay home or take precautions if you think you need it and don't have it. Can't continue to destroy businesses to get to some imaginary zero spread that will never happen.
