  1. In case anyone’s interested and likes watching quality vlogs (with POVs!), I had the trip of a lifetime with my best friend Sean Flaharty. Mr. Jeffery Siebert is SFFTs Park president, and you may remember him from all his awesome public relations work he did for Paramount’s Kings Island from mid-1999 to pre-CF era (SoB Blair Witch spoof and National Geographic Tomb Raider may ring a bell) WATCH HERE Jeff was kind enough to invest in me on my career journey in this industry, and invited me to come down to see how he did things and check out the park. I loved picking his brain on how he thinks creatively and what it takes to lead and “make it” in this industry. (I’m more infatuated with the business side rather than just being an enthusiast. I’ve always wanted to take it a step further). Jeff is an enthusiast at heart and his leadership skills and care for others is unmatched. I do hope to someday be like him, as he is just one more person that inspires me. We also were able to hit up Six Flags Over Texas, Sea World San Antonio, and ZDT’s Amusement for some fun as well.

  2. Iron Rattler was very nice. I don’t really rank coasters, I try to gain appreciation for each of them in their own way and what makes them unique (sometimes even if they’re a clone). I really admired it a lot before riding as Jeff told me he likes to see it as the park’s comparison to “The Beast”. He made a couple changes to it such as removing the slowdown at the top to achieve a new maximum speed down the first drop, and took out the flashing lights in the tunnel to create a more unique night ride. The first drop is probably my favorite on any coaster (now that Vortex is gone), it has a lot of character. Airtime is quite nice as well. Kinda like Storm Chaser in the sense that it may be short, but definitely packs a punch.

  3. The KIBlog Reader's Mailbag is making a return! Submit your question to Kings Island’s digital marketing area manager, Don Helbig, for possible inclusion in a future Kings Island Readers Mailbag blog. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/explore/blog/readers-mailbag-question-submission

  4. Awesome PTR. I have never meet Jeff, but he seems like a great guy. He did a lot for KIC back in the days. How do you rank their RMC?

  5. Hmmm...they renovated the Royal Fountain in 2003. And again in 2019. So maybe in 2035, they will renovate again and return the pedestals! Sorry/not sorry. I love the "new" International Street, but miss the "Old" Royal Fountain. But I like the "new" Royal Fountain too

  6. About 0 times. Lol, I haven’t been back to KI since July of 2019. I’m getting the gold pass so I’m hoping that changes.

  7. It was nice to meet you! Now to see if I can catch up to your count...only a 58-ride difference.

  8. I thought this was an interesting video and he brings up some good points. Cedar Fair has been cutting off some manufacturers that have been giving their respective parks problems such as Intamin and by the looks of it RMC. There really hasn't been a hint or a leak that RMC is going to work with Cedar Fair in the near future. I'm not saying it'll never happen again, heck they could have something in the works now, but it doesn't seem super promising at this point and time. Outside of Canada's Wonderland there's not an immediate need to convert any wooden coasters. I imagine Cedar Fair is looking to see how Iron Gwazi does before wanting to work with RMC again. I'm not saying Cedar Fair has quit on RMC but it seems like they're more comfortable with other manufacturers even going so far as to work with Mack who ships their track overseas. It'll be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of Cedar Fair's relationship with RMC

  9. Keep the structure as is. Get rid of the banners, replace the shingles, add accent pieces and international flags (i think they were there originally). Renovate the ticket building to emulate the architecture of International Street. Return the classic logo to the bank on the south side. Add some trees. Bring back decorative lamp posts. But don't demolish it and pull a Carowinds.

  10. I would like to see them do something with the roof shingles and replace it with something more aesthetically pleasing. Right now those give it a run down look. I think that would be a good start.

  11. It’s wild that the model outlasted the ride itself, in its original form at least.

  12. I have no clue how feasible this is but it would be absolutely awesome of we saw a large scale log flume return to the park.

  13. 2 years, 2 publishers, and 43 interviews later, I sent the final manuscript into the publisher today! One step closer to its release this spring. There’s a lot of amazing things going on right now with Kings Island: A Ride Through Time, so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

  14. As someone who delights in accruing unconventionally high ride counts, I took Orion's 300-foot plunge 219 times. I don't have all-season Fast Lane, for those of you who may be wondering, though every once in a while I buy it if I have friends visiting and getting it too. 60 of those times were in the same day, as I did a day-long marathon on August 10 to pay homage to my previous day-long marathon on Vortex on August 9, 2019. Dare I say it, but Orion could be the first ride to match my Vortex ride count (1221 1/3), if my 334-ride WindSeeker count doesn't get there first!

  15. It is shocking to me that Carowinds is running without a water ride in park. In a perfect world I'd say they should renovate their SBNO rapids ride like Knotts recently did and then add a new modern flume in the Dinos Alive area but I highly doubt either would occur. If any major park in the chain could use those investments, it's that park. All 3 of our summer trips there in 2016, 18 and 19 it was VERY hot.

  16. I assume the building is most likely on the chopping block for a flat or something but I always wondered how a small, indoor-outdoor coaster like Mystery Mine would look.

  17. I don't think we will ever see the pedestals in the Royal Fountain again. Luckily we can visit the old ones in the Orion queue.
