  3. The return of ERT has been confirmed. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/season-passes/early-ride-times?smtrctid=a9e27cdf56c627451842e98427d51266d2d8e3a8ae126b30e1de03247a2f2121&rID=41529074

  4. I certainly hope not. That would not go over well at KI (and likely will not at CP for that matter). I get the need to control labor costs, but this just seems like a short sighted move. Lets go to the park, but we have to get there two hours before they close to get in line for any big attraction before they cut the line off 90 minutes before park close.

  5. Please tell me that they’re not using this as an excuse to cut the lines early like Cedar Point is.......

  6. While an axis would be cool, I don't see us getting the first one. S&S while being innovative has seen its fair share of problems and I don't think CF will take that kind of risk.

  7. Some good news to those hoping a new ride will eventually replace Vortex: I just started reading my most recent ACE magazine that we get like every month or so and they have a section talking about Orion and they took a little bit to talk about Vortex and they seemed to have asked Mike Koontz about the future of the land and instead of him giving the standard "we have no plans for the area" he shed some light and sorta promised that it'll eventually be home to a new ride someday. However, I'd take this with a grain of salt and not expect anything new there until at least 2024: And btw if you are an ACE member and haven't read the magazine yet, I'd recommend reading the section about Orion. It has some very interesting stuff in there about the development of Orion and how it came about and why they went with what they did. Spoiler Alert: Millennium Force had nothing to do with why they didn't go all out with Orion.

  8. Got my second 2 Friday's ago (pfizer). Arm was sore the next day and I ran a 99.9 temp for 6 hours starting 30 hours after the injection. Wasn't sore or anything, just planned on taking it easy. 1 hour after I broke the temp I felt great. My wife had maderna and after her 2nd got a 99 temp starting 18 hours after the injection for about 8 hours, then fine. Just plan on taking it easy and have a blanket on hand if you're subject to getting the chills.

  9. Rule changes are probably a little tougher at KI than Cedar Point because of the season pass base. I hope they realize that. Then, with the exception of The Beast, the lines at close are typically non existent.

  10. I agree, hopefully KI doesn't close lines early. I have season tix for the first time to KI this year, but was planning on going at night a few times between 8-10p when my 1 year old is in bed since my wife isn't a huge roller coaster fan.

  11. Awesome to see that there is early ride time for the Great Pumpkin Coaster. My son will love that!

  12. Here's the thing. Mack and B&M are very expensive coaster manufacturers. With all that is going on right now, I'm not sure companies are lining up to install new coasters. B&M Dive..yeah yeah. We know that. Mack multi Launch? Sure put one at Carowinds. These aren't EXCITING though anymore. Enough parks have these close by where it is not different enough, per se to draw in crowds that aren't going to purchase season passes every year anyways. KI could do a spinner on Vortex plot like Time Traveler and that would be interesting and different, and intriguing and would be a huge hit. That's my number one vote for what I'd want to ride all the time and what I'd like to see here. For the park though, let's not forget Kings Islands History on innovation and uniqueness. Racer, Beast, Screamin Demon, OG Bat, King Cobra, Vortex, Outer Limits;Flight of Fear, Son of Beast. And while not Innovative, one of the few parks with a giga. Our drop of 300 ft. Mystic Timbers is the best GCI. BUT they only built it, the layout was designed by another company. What?? Did you even know that?? The S&S Axis coaster should go on this land. Kings Island and S&S should get in cahoots and Let S&S go all out here on this plot and give us a unique experience, a glimpse of our past and something that shows everything this new coaster can do. Old Kings Island motto. DO IT ALL. Showcase the Axis here, and make a deal where KI gets a big discount on being the flagship park to sell this. Hundreds of smaller parks get a less expensive version of this thrill coaster with the various elements in ours. We win, S&S wins. We get to install a new world class coaster at a discount due to its visibility for the manufacturer. And the manufacturer gets recognized for this model at a major park. And the Cedar Point who would not want to install one of these anyways in the near future, due to the newness of the model, and still needing a respectable modern woody plus needing world class status for its new coasters, has the lack of land to put anything on, where this model does not fit for a long time without removing a crowd favorite. So, they wouldn't gamble on this. Kings Island would. It's part of her nature. Let her do what she has always done. Innovate and impress the locals. Everyone else followed back in the day. Let's quit underestimating our worth by following trends and formulas. We aren't Cedar Point South. We are Kings Island. And that means something to so many people. Perfect Coaster at the perfect park.

  13. Last year I was one of the lucky ones who got tickets for the event. I know how quickly it sold out. It was nice how KI handled the refunds for the canceled event. Regretfully I will not be able to attend this year due to a prior commitment that weekend. I hope everyone enjoys! In lieu of this event, I bought tickets for Holiwood nights and Keys to the Kingdom. Haven't been to Holiday World since before Voyage was built and never to KK so looking forward to that weekend for sure!

  14. I still think Mack or RMC are the way to go because one thing I think also needs to be in play, even if this an inversion centered coaster, is that it should keep Vortex's 48" height requirement. I think Vortex more or less worked as a stepping stone coaster for people who were too short for Banshee and Diamondback.

  17. Do not forget the park is opening one hour later than in 2019 and one hour later than Cedar Point this year. Also that page seems to contradict itself. It states that early entry is good every day through Oct 31 except Haunt fridays. But early entry does not seem to be happening until May 28 either. It skips the first 2 weekends the park is open to the public. Editing this to say that I think they corrected the error on the website and it has now been reworded to state that early entry starts on May 28.

  19. Good luck with the side effects! Just know that it means the vaccine is working and that it'll help in the long run.

  20. That is interesting. Maybe the success of Orion will pave the way for Vortex’s successor.

  21. The last few years KCKC was around it was definitely showing its age. I remember that there were lots of patches to the fiberglass. And the water had a definite smell to it. It was a very fun ride though. I wish in a way that it was still there instead of the box that is TRTR. Could you imagine Diamondback snaking over the pond for it?

  22. That's not entirely true--the vaccine itself is "free" (funded by the taxpayers), but the entity administering it may charge an administrative fee. Most places do not, but some do. @SnakePlissken, I don't want to contradict your employer, and I don't know the circumstances, but in KY, there is no mandated place to get it. Local health departments, private pharmacies, chain pharmacies and super sites are all open for anyone over 60 (or maybe 50 here) and first responders/health care workers were first on the list. It is not acceptable that as a first responder who puts himself in harms way, that you have not had an opportunity to get one of the vaccines. Speaking of first responders, have you checked out Firstnet phone service? It's a banging deal and I love my service. It was opened up for nurses about a year ago and I haven't looked back--excellent service at a very affordable rate.

  23. I have envisioned an expansion utilizing the area back near Beast's station. I like the idea of the mining activity, and I've always wanted a Screamin' Swing to go where the Crypt was. Tear down the show building but leave the queue intact just rethemed as a mine. I would also move the petting zoo back to that area as well themed to a farm like Cedar Point's. As much as I like Slaughterhouse I would probably reuse that space for part of this too. I'm a bit mixed on the coaster addition though. I would utilize part of the space and expand the building to wrap around more. i would build a dark ride or indoor themed ride (something more simple like a saloon themed Madhouse or Western motion simulator. Have the queue start with a themed entrance by the arcade and exit out next to La Rosa's in a new gift shop so will expand the themed building front there by 50% or more.

  25. I don't want to bust anyone's excitement, but I have a hard time believing the placement of the water dummies 7 weeks before opening has anything to do with how many people they will be sitting on the trains this year.

  26. Probably just needed some weight and that's an easiest way to load the train? I'd be really surprised if they aren't using all the seats this year.

  27. Paramount seemed to feel there was one when they built Tomb Raider. Always felt out of place and don't want to see jungle/rainforest in Rivertown.

  29. I can’t wait for everyone to read Kings Island: A Ride Through Time in spring 2021, when it will be published by Rivershore Creative! The book is moving full-steam ahead once again now that I have a contract signed with the new publisher. I promise that the wait will be worth it, as I’ve been spending this time filling the book with more content, more interviews, and more incredible stories.
