  1. Hello everybody. I don't know how long it has been since I posted on here but I miss everybody. Have been kind of a hermit during this horrible year but am so thankful to have survived it. Got both of my shots and am ready to start riding again. Hope to see you all this Saturday for Season Pass weekend. ( I am assuming that there are a lot of new members on here.) PS are you still around Terpy? So miss your wit.

  5. I was fortunate enough to take a ride on Racer tonight at the friends and family event. Blue side, second seat. Best Racer ride for me in years. The new outbound stretch was whipped cream smooth and the entire ride was great. Great job to KI and GG for all the TLC on Racer. I’d still love a backwords ride, but short of that, I’m thankful that Racer is running fantastic again.

  7. This is not true. Diamondback saw a "near record-breaking year," according to Dick Kinzel. Banshee saw a significant attendance increase and was the reason why Mystic Timbers came only three years later, according to Greg Scheid. Mystic Timbers resulted in the highest-attendance year since 1998, according to Mike Koontz. I know you're going off the TEA numbers, but those are totally wrong. Cedar Fair said that Knott's Berry Farm surpassed 6 million in attendance for 2018, but the TEA numbers for that year was 4 million.

  10. Well I am on the wrong site. I am a amusement park fan not a one park fanboy. I am well traveled and try to go to 5 or 6 new parks a year. I like the 6 flags method of sharing the love and not feeding only a couple. I came to this site to talk coasters and amusement parks. Clearly this site has a bias one way of thinking.

  13. Thank you Bodda. I only got one ride on Orion last season which was on opening day 7/2/20. While like M Force a smidge better, still loved it. Its so nice to have a giga in your own backyard. The arguments about it not being a real giga because of the lift hill being less than 300 feet to me were plain silly. People need to realize that the topography of KI is made up of ravines which means lift hills on the average will be lower while you will have higher drops into ravines. I did not go back to KI at all for the rest of the season as I was simply too worried about the Co

  18. As we inch closer and closer to season pass holder preview on May 8th and 9th, and the start of the general season on May 15th, Kings Island is getting to be on everyone's mind. So many people are ready to get out of the house and enjoy yet another year of thrills, friends, and making memories at their favorite park, Kings Island. After an uncertain 2020 year with a shortened season, mask wearing, health screenings, and all that went into being safe at the park, we are starting to be able to get a little normalcy in 2021. Along with that is the return of Soak City, Shows, 10PM closes, fir

  19. Greg Scheid did consider putting in a wing coaster at the park, but at a different time than Thunderbird...I’d recommend checking out the book Kings Island: A Ride Through Time!

  20. Another blow for KD. Their calendar this season is so sad, they have fallen so far behind that even Six Flags America could be perceived to have passed them. And is that free spin still sitting in the parking lot? My god, what a shame for a park with so much potential and natural beauty, plus a solid top 3 coaster lineup.

  21. I just hope that if they are getting rid of the park maps for good they do what Cedar Point does and have a poster sized souvenir map that you can buy

  22. Wasn't it Diamondback that didn't have an increase? And I think Mystic Timbers was 2%. Also be careful when comparing percentages. Kings Island attendance is much higher than many other parks which makes for lower percentages. Additions may also be made simply to keep attendance up rather than increase it.

  23. So Dorney, WOF, MIA, and VF dont a turn a profit and KI, KD, CP CW and Knotts support them ? Because those parks made money and supported investments before CF dumped over a billion on the paramount parks. I heard that KI had no attendance increase with Banshee and only a 1 or 2 % with Mystic Timbers

  24. I have high hopes that all the parks will get love in the up coming years. Since Cedar Fair purchased the paramount parks investments have been very top heavy.

  26. I like the Bea Arthur analogy! I would be the guy towards the right scratching his head wondering why they built this obtrusive lighting truss and video screen that will be used an hour a day. ****Note: I reserve the right to like this live entertainment later if it is better than the concept art.

  27. I would be very surprised if we see park maps return. Respectively, I am one who does not want to carry anything in the park.

  28. I never pull out the maps when I get them (I've been going to KI all my life, so I don't need it; there are also electronic maps everywhere). For me, it's what KIghostguy said. It's about collecting; it's a nostalgic thing. When I was a kid, the first thing I did when we got to the park was grab the map and unfold it to look for showtimes, find where the new ride was, etc. I like the idea that I can still do that, and I love that now my kids get just as excited about it. They may be inessential, but for some it's a big part of the experience.

  29. I like to collect them. Plus, I prefer the physical aspect of holding it in my hands versus looking at an image on my phone. I would be legitimately surprised if there’s anyone that wants them to remain electronic for this year.

  30. I really, really hope that we’re back to paper maps this year. I was at Dollywood in March and they were using paper maps, so it’s definitely safe to do.

  33. I mostly agree with you. My only problem with this is they did a lot of really nice theming work on area 72 that this is going to distract from a bit, and I think that's kind of shame considering a lot of people who would normally go to Kings Island probably didn't go last year when it was new. That being said though, I'm not sure why this is so upsetting to some here. It's really not that big of a deal and I'd be surprised if its not just a temporary event for this season.

  36. Yeah, its pretty evident there was mis-information in that USA Today article. I'm glad it got shared, because its a good example of how the press can misconstrue their reporting about parks. Bottom line, there's no factual information that any such thing ever occurred on The Beast.

  37. One would think that Kings Island PR would have demanded an immediate correction. Maybe someone with access to USA Today back issues (microfilm at a library perhaps) could look at issues from the following days and see. I’ve seen so many errors in coaster articles and TV news over the years that have always made me cautious about believing everything I see.

  38. For posterity, I was a Beast Crew member (many, many moons ago) and can tell you we were all made aware of the potential hazards with the ride when in driver training. We were given examples of accidents that HAVE occurred in its history, so we knew what to look for and how to handle. Not once, in my time working there - or in training - was there ever any mention of someone being mortally injured by The Beast. However we were warned that people HAVE hit their heads on the trains, broken fingers and hands in the helix, busted lips, had heart attacks etc. Unfortunately, those types of th

  39. Just to clear up some stuff. Sunday is rumored to be the last day for the Antique Cars. No word yet on there moving someplace else. Its Premier, not Intamin. There are 3 "peel outs." I heard... don't aske me where. Any more questions?

  40. Tell you what, for PKI NOT to relocate the Antique Cars really upsets me. That ride is one of the "first" driving experiences for most kids with their mom or dad. I don't ever want to hear about the "family park" argument again. I would hope that PKI would put the cars in an area between BB and the main park. It would be nice to have some natural scenery. But just getting rid of the cars altogether is frustrating to me.

  41. I really like the addition, and it is tackling the "Hollywood theme" PKI is going after. I just hope that the theming is not forgotten about, that is the biggest part of the ride, if the theming goes under, so will the reputation.

  42. I woould hate it if the park decided to not relocate the Flying Eagles! Anyone else with me on that one???? I think a good spot for them would be where the Eurobungee was at. Just as long as that ride returns to the park, in its current location or another one, I will be happy. It will be a sade day when the Eagles disappear from PKI.

  43. The ride will without a doubt go into the Antique Car area, I have learned this due to recent reports stating that The Antique Cars will be closed officially on August 15. I went to KI yesterday to photograph the area before it is destroyed, yes destroyed, to make way for this new "spectacular" ride that will probably without a doubt leave us wanting something better, just as TR:TR and SOB have thus far. The footprint of the cars is huge, much bigger than people seem to believe, more than enough room for coaster, which has no lift hill, but uses LIMs. This concept is no different than projects
