Personally I have to say I wouldn't at all be happy with them removing rides in order to build a bigger concert venue. I'd be much happier seeing them just pull timberwolf out and build a new ride back there, but that's just me I'm sure some of you would like the bigger venue.4 points

A little concept I came up with. If the park were to want to compete with Riverbend and other concert venues to bring back big name acts to the park, they'd need to upgrade timberwolf. The idea I came up with requires the removal of Congo Falls and Invertigo and would also get a separate entrance from the front gate area and you would also be able to access it from the Action Zone plaza. This idea allows them to have a much bigger plaza and would be allow them to use it for other things like special events and stuff. It would also be renamed to Kings Island Music Center. This is just a concept nothing official from the park.3 points

Thanks to everyone that posted updates and pics of the park yesterday! I missed last year (first year I've missed since 2003), and can't wait to go in a couple weeks. It's so great to see views from in the park. Thanks again!3 points

I picked up a copy at the Emporium yesterday in the park. I don't normally like to read books but this will be a good read. I skimmed through the pages and looks like lots of good details in there. I'll start reading it after this weekend when I get home from my trip.3 points

I scored 2 rides on Friday night…front seat and second from back. In my opinion, these rides were slightly better than my 3 rides last year. Can’t put my finger on any one aspect that was significantly different, just felt solid all the way through. Also, the trim brake did not feel as strong. The first drop is still magnificent. :^)3 points

I don't think there would be any way they could have prepared for yesterday! In spite of the challenges, I cannot say enough positive things about the employees. They were slow, but smiling and cheery. The only closed places I saw were: Rivertown Freestyle, Rivertown refill by arcade, Rivertown Funnel Cakes, Subway. (Funnel and Subway could have been because it was later in the day.) Paradise Island was open, which seems rare to me!2 points

Land clearing? That is a stretch. More like removing trees that are at the end their service lives. They also did this around The Beast queue and the Adventure Express queue. The also "mauled" a few of the Autumn Blaze Maple trees on the midway in the Area Formerly known as Coney Mall.2 points

I'm not for removing Timberwolf. Once something is gone, its hard to bring back. I'd rather them fix it up and make it work vs demolishing it. We don't need a coaster on every vacant piece of land. Most music venues are downtown over 20 miles away so there's enough distance for it to work. Its not like Dave Matthews would stop playing at Riverbend to go to Timberwolf. KI could host their own music festival and bring in people who are looking for their big break.2 points

I may be wrong, but it looks like Kings Island is just cleaning it up. Last year, Timberwolf was very overgrown, and it looks like they are removing weeds. I don’t seen any part of the amphitheater that has actually been removed.2 points

I definitely like the concept. Timber wolf is a big eyesore and definitely out of style and date. I've been inside those trailers behind the stage and it is definitely in much need of an upgrade! The idea that it has its own entrance is a big plus. I can see hopefully something like this when we get our front gate upgrade (hopefully soon)2 points

I am surprised that Kings Island is loading every other row on Flight of Fear. Disney and Universal use every row on their indoor rollercoasters, so it is weird that Kings Island doesn’t. Flight of Fear is the worst ride to have a limited capacity this season as its normal capacity is not good.2 points

Was this at night? Guy with glasses in a Toledo jacket? That was hilarious to watch. The look on the mom's face was priceless, as the family stayed huddled together and tried to keep their distance. Even my 11 year old son was cracking up at the scene. Those poor folks were stuck in that moment nonstop for 45 minutes. "So... so... Intimidator 305, or, I-305 as WE like to call it..." What a line!2 points

what would it matter with the indoor mazes? They had people shoulder to shoulder at inside food places and FoF's que today.2 points

Probably still up in the air but this poster definitely isn't going to limit them from adding Haunt to the lineup if they want.2 points

I confirmed with the rest of my group: they were loading all rows today. Subway was open but I saw them closing down around 4:00 or 5:00. Likely staffing.1 point

I don't see it leaving anytime soon but I would much rather see it's removal for new rides than for it to be upgraded and take up more park space. There is still plenty of area for them to add new stuff over the next years, but I feel like overall they are more likely to remove it than upgrade. There's just no need to remove it until they really need that space.1 point

I remember when I worked Security in 2005 and I always got the post where there were Wasp Nests everywhere fence line, in the grass, under the seats. I couldn't do one show and there would be guests coming asking to move because of the bees or wasps. I even thought 16 years ago that it needed revamped. I don't think it needs to be bigger as the audience side goes, but they do need a new stage. I honestly think it needs to be moved to another part of the park to be honest. I think back between Racers or even build it where Vortex is. Now that there is Great Wolf Lodge, they don't need to hear it right that close. Usually most shows were done by 10 at the latest. I think having it back by the fireworks could be incorporated with timing of the concerts.1 point

Comes down to what is the better monetary option. Spirit Song is the only real event that takes place at the location yet only happens for one weekend throughout the season. If studies find new expansion better income potential then the days of Timberwolf are running low. It looks like it needs a lot of refurbishment work, money that may not see a return investment if done. So that leaves one other option.1 point

Oh, wow! Good find @Oldschool75! However, it appears Timberwolf is still on the park map (the online version, that is).1 point

The park is not in the business to compete for musical acts these days. Look for TW to be gone relatively soon. I mean, check out the photos of it from Saturday, Land clearing and it literally looks like it's being torn down (just an observation)1 point

Plans can always change and there could be variation among parks, however at Chill Out at CP in February, Tony and Jason both spoke on Halloweekends when a question came up in our presentation. Both mentioned that they anticipated some combination of the event style they had to use in 2020 along with some elements of a traditional haunt, including outdoor scare zone but likely EXCLUDING indoor mazes/houses.1 point

There was an ennthusiast in line for DB trying to explain enthusiast language to the GP and it was hilarious, glazed look from the GP and he just kept going.1 point

I noticed this as well. I have no problem with season Fast Lane being used today. I was disappointed that they sold daily FL for passholder preview. But, after 2020, can’t really blame them for making some extra cash today.1 point

I don't see anyone complaining about operations, just how busy it is. That is a good thing for the park.1 point

Parking opened about 1010. You could scan into the park and line up for rides. But rides didn’t run until 11.1 point

This is not true. Diamondback saw a "near record-breaking year," according to Dick Kinzel. Banshee saw a significant attendance increase and was the reason why Mystic Timbers came only three years later, according to Greg Scheid. Mystic Timbers resulted in the highest-attendance year since 1998, according to Mike Koontz. I know you're going off the TEA numbers, but those are totally wrong. Cedar Fair said that Knott's Berry Farm surpassed 6 million in attendance for 2018, but the TEA numbers for that year was 4 million.1 point

A little disappointed that they announced that they initially won’t do indoor shows, but other than that I’m very very happy with the changes. I went to Dollywood yesterday and they have similar protocols. It was so freeing to not wear a mask on the midways.1 point

This is definitely great news. We have both been vaccinated and I've been counting down the days until the season pass days. Just not sure if we'll wear masks in line or if we will discard them. All the "science" is pointing to minimal risk, as others have said, for outside venues and thus I will probably keep the mask in my pocket. I'm more excited about full train operations. The coasters can get back to cranking people through and lines will be more normal. Less than two weeks to go!!1 point

Dr. Fauci said yesterday that the risk from outdoor spread is "miniscule". I'm glad Cedar Fair is following the science. This is great news.1 point

I know a lot of them personally especially Sean Flaharty. He’s a good friend. He is different from the rest. He’s not out for the clicks, likes or being popular. He does it because he loves to document everything. He’s been that way his whole life. Most of the others in YT and IG are just out for clicks and likes to fund their amusement park trips. I follow very few of them. If they provide good informative content and not just “I’m first, or copy other creators content then I will follow. I’m not one for the popularity game, never have been. Even with the project I was working on, it was never about popularity or notoriety, it was about passion and wanting to do something I enjoy. Most who know me know, I’d rather be behind the camera instead in front of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
