  1. What do people hate about the restraints? I find the Banshee ones so much better than head banging OTSR! I'll take a little tight on the chest and walking off without a headache than freedom in the chest and head banging LOL.

  2. Yep, but the rain had pretty much ended by 1pm when they made the decision to close at 3pm, so many people had planned on heading up after 1pm after looking at the radar and seeing nothing else significant was coming...so yeah the folks that braved it early and walked around with the closed rides due to rain and lightening up until 1pm benefited, but anyone planning on going up later that day did not get that opportunity...

  3. My wife and I are here for the weekend. They did severely cut number of reservations. At 6:17 line for SV is 1 hour and Maverick is 45 minutes.

  4. There are NO pros. They are 100% offered out of greed and because people will pay for them. Great operations, single rider lines and free lockers/no carry on items would be far superior and give all guests a great experience with shorter waits. All paid fast passes just give some guests a better experience while making a worse experience for the majority. But B class theme parks like Cedar Fair and C class parks like Six Flags reallY don’t care about giving the best experience. Their business models depend on cheap Season passes and they know people will Come back because they got them with the cheap season pass, not because of a high quality experience.

  6. This isn't the first year they have closed early due to weather...it has been going on for a few years...many times recently they tweet out that rainy days are good days to visit the park as crowds are low....only to tweet out a few hours later they are closing early....

  8. The golden year is almost here! When Kings Island opened in 1972 it began with a brash experiment of bringing world class excitement of a Disney like formula to a regional seasonal park. Almost 50 years later, Kings Island has grown into the Midwest's largest and one of the most successful in the US. For it's 50th, as enthusiasts and people who love our park, what are you most excited for and more importantly what are the things you would love to see the park do for next season? For me, I would love to see signs around the park showing the history of each location, the rides and attractions that have been and information about what they were. I would also love to see this as the year Live Entertainment makes its grand return with showcases from some of the most beloved shows that have graced the park in its 50 year history. This would include a huge makeover of the grand finale fireworks. I'd love to see a documentary played on FUNTV and daily live trivia of the parks history for real rewards everyone can play while in the park though the KI APP. Since it is the 50th and its stone is GOLD I would love to see that idea transform the perks for GOLD+ members. Lastly, and most grand I would see the Eiffel Tower repainted all in GOLD. What are your dreams you would love to see for the 50th season? Who knows, we know the park reads these comments and maybe they will fall in love with some of the ideas we contribute.

  9. This X1000. I mean the restraints totally suck they just suck a 1000X less.

  10. Wow, closing at noon really is cutting back the hours Or are they staying open thru the night LOL.

  11. The park is getting a 4d coaster and clearly there is a lot going on at the old volcano location. This park has yet to get neglected and I do not picture it starting now

  13. You just praised one of its design aspects and then say it was not well designed. Back in the late 80's to very early 90's, Vortex got praises of how smooth and modern it was. The ride lasted over 30 years. It is very hard to compare transitions that were made by hand vs computer designed and pre-manufactured like we have today.

  14. While these past weekends were frustrating, I'm sure as the season goes on, things will improve. Opening weekends have always been hectic, and I can also attest to the "do what you think works best" for Fastlane mentality. It will improve as the season goes on. Like said earlier, Fastlane ultimately does drive profit, but can assure you they still care about guest experience. We can't judge the entire 2021 season off of 4 hectic days of a crowded park with fresh staff.

  15. It was poorly engineered. The transitions of the track were horrible, the trains wobbled on the track, and arrow loops are too tight. All lead to a very brutal ride. They turn before the mid course break run was way too tight and slammed riders. It looked great visually with all 6’inversions aligned together but it was not well designed.

  16. Aaaannnnnnnnndddd let me stop you right there. So, out of most of everyone here, I might have the most hours in that waterpark and I know it like the back of my hand. Here are just some things that you guys need to keep in mind here: That lower center red zone is where the electrical lines are, AKA no water park additions are probably going to be close to it due to that proximity, plus the back roads are practically the only maintence roads to the kiddie pool pump houses. Upper area is Tasmanian Typhoon Mondo Monsoon, that thing is a relic don't touch it pls The upper area is honestly a part of the area I want the waterpark to grow out to. If not there, at least the large green space next to the main road. We are practically landlocked and have 0 space to move out besides taking slides and attractions out. The back area by Pine is honestly my best bet for a future addition. It has space, it needs to be fleshed out, it has potential. Just add a water coaster already geez. I don't think Zoom is going anywhere yet. They just added a new chain lift a few years back, however it is aging, really bad even with it being a historical slide. I still believe we need a retheme and revitalization of the waterpark. It needs some TLC and I seriously believe we need in the least a new slide complex and a watercoaster within the next 10 years max. Our waterpark can really kick it out if they put the right amount of love into it (and if they turned off the water features and made it a legit lazy river).

  17. I was very pleasantly surprised with Banshee because I expected a really tame, typical B&M. I usually find newer B&Ms to be fun but lack the intensity and snap that I crave, but I have greyed out before on Banshee. I do abhor the vests though.

  18. It’s open vaccine season. With the exception of the very small percentage of the population who can’t get the vaccine, if you choose to not get the vaccine, that’s kind of on you at this point.

  19. I am not sure what charm has to do with slow ops. Dominator aside, they have a lot more trees and seclusion than KI at this point. The two water rides feels like you are in the woods. You have Grizzly out in the woods like The Beast. Some of the flats the somewhat hidden. Then you have the dare I say cozy International Street. I am pretty sure that might be the charm Beestfarmer is talking about.

  20. Paramount/Viacom/CBS did this park no favors. The coasters they put in, while thrilling, were not capable of sustaining the park. Volcano: The Blast Coaster was incredible and a terrible loss for the park. Shockwave and The Hurler--not so much, their replacements were wise. Then add the decision to put in I-305 which has not seemingly given the park the ROI CF expected, then the tax breaks to Carowinds and we have what we have today. I hope and pray that CF takes a long look at KD. It is worthy of a strategy to build on to what it once was. Solid Planet Snoopy. Excellent entryway. Charm out the wazoo. I am hoping what they are doing to Safari Village is going to set the stage for a revival. KD has excellent bones.

  21. I think KD is going to transition to be the discount park for a while until they get their footing back. They removed their best coaster and have been removing or closing some of their smaller ones during the past decade. That rumored B&M wing might help KD but BGW is years ahead of them in my opinion. Though its been spread out through other Sea World parks, I think Tempesto was intentional. A Premier Skyrocket II would have been perfect for KD during the 2010s but BGW beat them to it, which is partially why I think KD chose to aquire a S&S 4d freespin; not just because it spins like the Crypt but to beat BGW to something.

  22. I don't think they are removing avalanche. I agree it was a mistake taking out Volcano. Could have had intamin come in and install the new generation of LSM's and refurbish the ride. That ride was so ahead of its time.

  23. That top 3 of I305, Twisted Timbers and Volcano would have been so nice. Instead... A park on a massive decline.

  25. Unfortunately though they have no cushion. Love them or hate them, B&Ms provide cushions for parks so they can push themselves further. If something happens to Cheetah Hunt, BGT has Montu, Kumba, and Sheikra. If something happens to Pantheon, BGW has Apollo's Chariot, Alpengeist, and Griffon. KD only has Dominator Pretty much. Notice how after the Paramount buy, Cedar Fair gave us three.

  26. I feel sorry for KD. It always feels like the clause that BGW had with B&M really hurt KD down the road.

  27. I thought I read closed for good, I was like jeez Kings Dominion, you really are Kings Island's sister park closing coasters left and right out of nowhere.

  28. Avalanche is an absolute gem of a ride. Hopefully it is just because of construction and not because of a worse reason.

  29. Definitely would love to see a big time celebration like what Cedar Point is doing. A trivia with prizes you could win would be nice! Definitely should play a documentary on the FunTVs (I may be a minority, but I don't like the FunTVs lol). I also would love to see a new skywheel as well as Boo Blasters revamped into a modern Phantom Theater (similar to what Knott's is doing with their dark ride revamping it and basing it off an older attraction). I also would love to see an upgraded entry plaza (not year down the current entrance) but maybe give the building some TLC and new ticket booths and a new season pass processing center. This may be a big stretch, but I would also love them to try and reopen the 60 ft level of the Eiffel Tower and make it like a relaxing area with patio style seating and stuff. I do agree the ET needs a repaint, but not gold. I just would like to see fresh aqua/blue paint to make it more fresh. Obviously, they likely won't do all of these, but this is my wishlist for next year and maybe even the next few years (park improvements wise).

  30. I’d love to see a flat ride be added to Oktoberfest for the 50th season. In terms of merchandise I’d really love to see the return of souvenir maps!

  35. The headbanging and the transitions are the complaints I had always heard. It used to be considered one of the smoothest rides in the park but then we got our B&MS and the bar was raised. I think you'll find that more people hated Vortex AFTER we got our B&Ms vs before we got them.
