  1. I really wish this would be KI’s policy too. No one wouldn’t know that it’s not okay to be disruptive, fight, be openly vulgar, line jump, etc in the park. People that do that have little regard for the rules anyway. I realize that security can’t be everywhere all the time so something like this is unrealistic, but I really feel like it won’t take long for the word to get out that the park has a zero tolerance policy and those who would typically violate the rules would either shape up or not come.

  2. As mean as it sounds, with an incident like this, the whole group should be ejected. That would prevent the abuse you took in line that could have ended much worse. Or they follow and harass you around the park.

  3. @Rallyomalley sorry to hear about this. This is how SIX handles this crap

  5. Anyone thinking Tuesdays are light will find that not the case today.. As of this post, Skyline is out past Starbucks and chicken shack halfway to Drop Tower. Rides all healthy queues as well. And this is an 8pm close...

  6. I am happy to report that much more theming has been added to the stage in Rivertown. An old car is now parked next to the stage, and there are wood pallets behind the stage. There also seem to be other props, but everything is covered. It looks pretty nice.

  7. Definitely. Carowinds capped attendance was definitely lower than KI when I went on a Saturday. Hell, they were still selling Fast Lane halfway through the day on the weekend when KI sells out seemingly instantly. That says a lot

  8. The demand is so high, I really think it could look like this through the end of daily operations. KI being the only major CF park not capping dry park attendance could make the park the busiest in the chain this year.

  10. I debated on posting this experience, but after more than an hour spent with Leslie (dir. Safety and security) and Carl (area manager, security) I feel like it needs to see the light of day. I used the this line to report some line jumpers this morning. Sent pictures (their system can't receive pictures) and descriptions in addition to location information. AAAANNNDDD...nearly got assaulted for my troubles. As the single security guard that responded (he did everything he could in this situation) tried to remove them from the line, one of the offenders charged at me aggressively, swinging his phone around at me and yelling. I should note here that I had zero interaction with these guests. Didn't talk, speak, anything to them. He got to within a few inches before the security guard was able to yank him back. Security only removed half the group, so I was then subjected to verbal harassment and threats from the remaining group members. Needless to say I was and still am really ticked off. I went immediately to guest services and sat with Leslie and Carl to discuss the events. To her credit (and she is the first person in dir. level position to do so) she acknowledged KI failed in this instance and apologized for it, personally. While I appreciate the sincerity and honesty from her, I am left unsatisfied with the resolution. That "zero tolerance" policy... isn't really that. It's more "they'll get a stern talking to." Furthermore there are so many holes in their security and safety policies that it might as well be a sieve. Make of this what you will, but I think I may be done after this.

  11. Three train operations are also not as common at some SIX parks.

  12. IMO KI and CP have the best ride OP operations and speed. Knotts comes in a close 3rd out of the CF parks I have visited. Carowinds and KD are very laid back, which at KID not necessary a bad thing, but Carowinds is a pretty busy park now. For those of us used to KI and CP speeds it seems they are very slow. Go to Indiana Beach, Holiday World, and a SIX park. I do not have any ride op experience, but you want to go show them the speed they could be going to get trains out. KI really is the example in this regard.

  14. After spending some time looking around at large pieces of land by the park and Soak City, I decided to come up with a hotel concept using some of the large chunks of grassy land by Soak City and the associate road. The biggest obstacle with this concept is that it would require a lot of work on KI drive to accomodate for an entry and exit road for the new hotel. I basically did was that the employee entrance would also serve as a hotel entrance. The hotel would be known as the Kings Island Grand Lodge. It would feature about 200 rooms and suites, an outdoor swimming pool/spa, a full service restaurant and bar, a fitness center, a business center, and a full service breakfast buffet. Plus, a stay at the hotel would get you free entry into Kings Island and Soak City (meaning the cost to stay would be pretty expensive, but season passholders would get a big discount). It would also include a skywalk that connects the hotel to Soak City that would be accessed by your room key. Remember, this is all a concept and just me dreaming. I have absolutely no inside information from the park.

  15. Unfortunately, it is basically right at the bottleneck before the little bridge going over toward Brewhouse...any crowd at all will block the midway that can get bottlenecked just with the train and Timbers being let out at the same time....

  16. I don't think it really necessarily has to be tall where you can see it everywhere in the park like Vortex tbh. I actually think a Copperhead style coaster would work great in The Vortex plot using the terrain and having multiple inversions visible from the main midway that goes in front of The Vortex plot

  17. I'm pretty sure the park owns that land, but at the same time, it seems it would be too similar to Great Wolf and potentially not have enough market for that kind of resort, especially with Camp Cedar coming into play.

  18. I think a concept idea for KI on KIC would have a better chance of being built first.

  20. That was one of the concerns I conveyed to the park. I was stuck in the queue on a stairwell...not exactly an ideal place to be. There are a number of ways it could've ended up worse. Ffs, one of them was trying to take a photo of me. I told them I felt like I was going to have to watch over my shoulder all day watching for the others. I left.

  21. The one that attempted to assault me was removed. 2 of the remaining 4 were removed from the queue. The remaining 2 were the ones who verbally harassed me afterwards. Only one was ejected per the park. The remaining 4 were "talked to". However after I met with Leslie and Carl and explained what happened afterwards I was told they would search them out and remove them. But initially only the one that came at me was removed. The rest were sent along after a "Stern talking to". Also. This was a group of 3 adults, 1 later teen, 1 early teen.

  25. They used to have a fountain that was flush with the ground. Similar to a splash park in today’s world.

  26. Ok guys with the new season here I have piled on some rides on Orion already. I ended last season at 277 but i now stand at 357, I have a bet with a friend on whether I can hit 1000 total by the end of June. After that I will take a break from ride count chasing and just enjoy the park. I have only missed one operating day so far this season but I am out of town on vacation from June 7th to the 13th which makes that 1000 total a bit tough but hey if anyone wants to tag along I am always looking for ride buddies. See ya all at the park

  30. Overheard a lady talking to her kids after a ride on Diamondback saying how Backlot Stunt Coaster has been around since 1989. I think she has the wrong park and ride lol

  31. Regarding KI staff, I do not see how stating one park’s staff is more friendly than another’s staff is dissing one. It is simple stating that one is better and that can likely be chalked up to as southern hospitality. Something some of us northerners could learn from. Bless your heart.

  32. This is a very rare circumstance but I understand where FOF is coming from and I think several of you missed his point. He said nothing about ride operations, it was about Food and Beverage in both how they were staffed and the moral of the staff. “The little things”. It is one thing to have long ride lines on a busy day, we all expect that. It is quite another when you get off a ride after a two hour wait and have to wait another hour just to get a drink or a bite to eat much less served by a less than enthusiastic associate. “The little things” and they do mean a lot. Also, while the restrooms at KI are way ahead of CP, they are still poorly ventilated, stinky and atrocious. (Don’t get me started on CP restrooms.) Something, in my albeit limited experience, other chains have excelled at.

  35. I think an automatic ejection from the park and a ban from the park for at least the rest of the year would be the way to go. If the park started doing that and the word got out, it would make someone think really hard about causing trouble at the park.

  36. "Suspect information will be presented to Warren County Juvenile Court for charges. Further investigations are being conducted to identify others responsible, according to the city of Mason Assistant City Manager Jennifer Heft said five people have been identified as of late Tuesday afternoon, and that there may be more because the investigation is ongoing." IMO the park should charge any and all of these stupid kids to the fullest extent. I feel that would go a long way.

  37. This was at Cedar Point by the way So I was in line for Steel Vengeance and this was my first ever visit to Cedar Point. I could see Corkscrew's lift hill, but since I was new, I didn't know what it was. So I asked my friend: "I wonder what ride's lift hill that is." And the kid that was in line next to me said: "That's Mean Streak's lift hill."

  38. There are plenty of bodies for seasonal work in Cincinnati. Not so many in Sandusky. I’m psyched for the old people that will undoubtably come to this thread and complain that it’s “too much” for a teenager. I hope this improves the quality of the product. I’m excited for the associates to make better wages!
