  1. For a site that likes to decode, it is surprising how quick some here are to dismiss what may be a clue. Maybe it is a clue or maybe it isn’t, but nonetheless, it should be something to observe and watch over time. Only then do we see if it were an early indication or not. It is clear some here only want to decode once it is painfully obvious something is happening and plans are available at city hall LOL. What fun is that? When the fence went up for Orion construction that really got the speculation going, but there were clues prior to that for those paying attention… Part of the fun is figuring it out a couple years before it is painfully obvious an announcement is imminent. Apparently some don’t have the patience for that kind of multi-year sleuthing lol. The survey markers may be a simple water line project, or it may not. The County budget simply says it is 10,300 feet of 12-inch waterline along Columbia Road. Columbia Road is a long road and could be anywhere along Columbia Road since a map is not part of the budgetary document. But the existing line is a 15-inch water line in this vicinity. Rarely would a county that is growing downsize a water main… And if it is for something years down the road, of course KI will deny it is for a new improvement. They time when they announce attractions for a reason. In addition, the budget says the project runs from 2022 (design) to 2026 (construction completed). So any survey work seen at the end of 2020 is not related to that project. A waterline of that size is a design contract of no more than 9 months – year tops, so they would not have done survey work in 2020 for a project of that size for the design to be completed in 2022. Further, a waterline project of this size would not be designed in-house by County staff – it would go out to a consulting firm through a competitive process. According to the records (unless I missed it in my review), there has been no Columbia Road waterline project that has gone out for RFQ/RFP for design services, nor has there been a contract authorized for design services of said project. Based on the timetable of the budget, I would expect to see that happen sometime this year for survey and design to be started either later this year or the contract completely performed in 2022… So if the surveying stakes that showed up at the end of 2020 cannot be confirmed as a county project by review of County records, then it is a strong likelihood that this work was done for a private entity. Could be KI, could be Duke, Cincinnati Bell, Great Wolf, or any other entity not bound by public records requirements. We really do not know at this point, but if decoding is your thing, shouldn't you be watching for activity in that area to try to figure it out? For all intents and purposes, this final portion of Columbia Road is an unofficial vacated road. Perhaps the time has come to officially vacate the road and turn the parcel over to Kings Island, which really should have happened once that road was cut in two because there is no reason now other than for Kings Island staff to be on that road at that section as it is a dead-end road with nothing but KI on it. It serves no public purpose and spending tax dollars on that road is poor stewardship of public funds. Perhaps as part of the condition before it can be officially vacated and turned over to Kings Island is that the waterline needs to be moved. Does it need to be moved for a future expansion? Can they really downsize the water line that is there now? We don’t know… Now we see what appears to be some work around the Timberwolf area. Maybe it is simply getting rid of dying trees and maybe some modifications are being done to Timberwolf. Or maybe it is the early stages of a future improvement 2-3 years from now. Time will tell. That is part of the fun and mystery of decoding – can we figure it out before anything obvious happens that the casual observer picks up on. Can we figure it out before the wood fence shows up and plans show up at city hall? These are the fun things to do. Opening weekend we saw a crane show up in the lot. Was it a clue? Was it simply a contractor paid KI to park it there over the weekend for a project close by? Could it be to salvage the Timberwolf sign and some material from the top of the theater? Is it for replacement of the HVAC units on the top of KI Theater? Is it to perform routine maintenance access to any number of rides where using a crane to remove/replace a part would be advantageous and if so, was something not running that could be a clue …and then we see Delirium is down. Time would tell if it was just for Delirium or did they use it for something else as well. Fast forward several weeks later and it appears the crane was just for Delirium and maybe some ride maintenance that we cannot determine based on visual observation. Nothing else was done at Timberwolf other than it appears they cleaned up the backdrop that gave an illusion of being dismantled. The roof is still all B-52s Love Shacked. The sign is still there. That is the fun part. And now Music in the Parks has already occurred this year at KI and was the event held in Timberwolf like in years past (hint it was not). But not as many schools participated as in years past either. But Music in the Parks is scheduled for 2022 at KI already, so could it be in Timberwolf or not like this year? All coincidental or a clue? I think Shaggy and others nailed it why KI will not invest any money into Timberwolf. Some folks here have some good suggestions on what they could do to make that a music venue for local acts, etc., but I don’t see that as being the target market KI is currently going after. To some extent KI already does that with local acts taking the stage in Festhaus, stage by fountain, temporary setups like in front of Festhaus for the past fall event and inside the enclosed patio at Hanks for Winterfest. KI has the facilities in place to host those types of bands if they wanted. Timberwolf served a purpose at one time, and with minimal expenses, they could maintain it to hold SpiritSong and a few other events, but at some point it will be removed, and the question is how long before a new attraction is announced do they remove it - the fall before or years before or after the announcement?. Plus SpiritSong staff is less than half the size it used to be, so will they even be in the business to put together such an event? Could KI put together an event in the parking lot like they did for the Knievel jumps? So we have markers that started showing up last year and now within close vicinity is activity around Timberwolf. Maybe purely coincidental, but I will be keeping an eye on it for future clues that indicate whether it is purely coincidental or related…that is the fun part…figuring it out 3 years before it is announced is the fun part. Not much to decode once we see the fence go up and construction going on that makes it painfully obvious something is happening and pulling plans from city hall a few months before the park announces it - at that point is more confirming before the official announcement than it is decoding. Keep in mind a site admin started this original thread….this thread and the crane thread were posted here by a site admin before another site everyone likes to bash even posted about it…just saying…

  2. I'd just like to say, as a long time member here, with everything that has been going on in the world recently, it is really great to see some good, old-fashioned Kings Island construction rumors/speculation going on!

  3. Condensed version: Keep in mind a site admin started this original thread - this thread and the crane thread were posted here by a site admin before another site everyone likes to bash even posted about it…just saying… Review of county records do not confirm the markers seen Fall of 2020 are related to said county water line and in fact all but indicate they were not part of the waterline project because the budget document shows a timetable of 2022 to 2026 for the project, so they did not have had funds encumbered for that project in 2020. If you want the details and the specifics, then read the wall of text LOL.

  4. This is the mindset they have given their costumers with their reputation for starting to closing early. Once a park starts doing that, everyone stays away on a rainy day not to risk wasting their time and travel expenses. It’s a bad cycle. It also leads to making the nice days miserably crowded as people wait until those days to go. Overall, it saves a few dollars when they shut down early. But in the long run it leads to less customer satisfaction and ultimately hurts business

  5. ^I had to take a nap after reading that! The issue is that some posters draw wild conclusions and state their opinion as fact in order to draw attention to a website. And then argue ad nauseum about it to the point of being extremely annoying. Compare that with other posters who suggest ideas and flesh out concepts but who do not have an agenda, they are just exploring. Wild theories, based on some paint and flags and lights being turned on are fun to explore. Just don't be a jerk about it.

  6. That's why we, as seasoned KI fans, should temper our expectations. I was dismayled in the parking lot. I was dismayed when I walked in and saw the food lines. But then I remembered that I am in a place that has been a part of my life for most of my entire life. I knew going up today it would be a gamble with the crowds and the crowds won. But, I was able to get Blue Ice Cream and a drink at Paradise Island in less than 10 minutes. Later, a meal and a Blue Ice Cream Beer at the bar in the Brewhouse with no wait. A no wait meal at Coney BBQ late in the day. Rode all the coasters I wanted to, and did a little shopping (posters). Hung out with a friend. And did all of that in about 7 hours. In an atmosphere that was near "normal." Remember, this tme last year, the park was CLOSED. The thing we collectively enjoy was off limits. How many times did I say: "I don't care if I ride anything, I just want to be in the park!"? My point being, if you don't like increased crowds...don't go or find a way to accept the increased crowds. Enjoy what you have right now because circumstances can remove you from it. COVID should teach us that.

  7. Either way, we are not going to hash out markers that might mean nothing at this point. If something more shows up then we can discuss, but we are not going to jump to a coaster being built because we notice the grass being cut and trees getting trimmed.

  8. Well the park was pretty empty all day today, and they stayed open up until the very end.

  9. Disappointed. Went today, rain and all, specially for the chefs plate. I knew about it from their advertisements on Facebook, specially from chef majors Facebook page. Apparently they put a notice out on Twitter that it was canceled, but I only checked Facebook so I didn’t see that. Wish they would have made more of an effort to let people know it was canceled (or at least an equal effort to what they did to promote that it was going to start today) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Kings Island did not take anything from Great America. Cedar Fair’s corporate office made a decision about Great America that affected Kings Island, but Kings Island as a park did not make any decisions about Great America. I would suggest reading the new book Kings Island: A Ride Through Time. It will certainly clear some things up for you!

  11. It sucks you had to deal with that @Rallyomalley Hopefully you didn't see them the rest of the day. It really is a shame that so many in society now when pointed out that they made a mistake or broke a rule, instead of apologizing they get all defensive and willing to start a fight. All the years I have stood in a line and someone lit up a cigarette and I nicely inform them that it is not allowed in line, only once did someone apologize and be like "my bad I didn't know" and put it out immediately. Most of the time it is an F you... Once I was sitting eating and someone lit up a cigarette at the table next to me and I nicely informed the lady and she got all fussy and she said "There is a security guard, I am going to get him over here and tell him you are harassing me." I encouraged her to please wave him over and she did with the cigarette in her hand and he told her smoking was prohibited. She got belligerent with security and hastily put it out, and not once apologized to me or security. Entitled society we are becoming.

  13. I think Soak City will be closed, but Kings Island will probably at least open. How long Kings Island stays open depends on how many people are there. I also think Chef’s Plate will be a no go again.

  14. You hit the nail on the head. I stayed around town instead because I did not want to risk it. I have only been once so far but i have a trip planned to hit a couple Six parks and BGW and I will hit Dominion on the same trip. I am more excited for the non FUN parks based upon what I have seen and heard this year thus far.

  15. I had the Pub Burger and Blue Ice Cream Beer yesterday. I'm not a beer drinker, but I did enjoy BICB. The beer aftertaste was annoying, but then again, it's beer....soooooo.... The Pub Burger was really good! It reminded me of an "old diner" burger. The other burgers I have had at CF parks were what a friend referred to as "worm burgers." There was no effort to hide the extrusion process. Visually unappealing and tasting bland, I decided no more CF burgers. The Pub Burger did not look like worms; the patties were thin and pan fried, with a crust. Condiments were tasty. Tots were cold, and I ordered my burger without tomato. Burger was hot, so I surmised that the food is not made to order but is plated up and put on a shelf to be picked up. I did eat barside, so it was great to not have to wait for an hour to be seated.

  16. It would be interesting if the front of the park was redeveloped into a special event/entertainment zone and marketplace. Similar to what is in the master plan for California's Great America.

  20. The" maybe it is this, "I think it could be"," think about this idea" discussions are welcome. The "It is this", I know it will be", "what's coming is" without citing a credible source to back them up are against the TOS. That was my full intent with creating this thread. I wanted to make sure it was presented as a rumor and speculatory only before it somehow got presented as a confirmed coaster for that location. Wording is very important, and wanted to get the intent to readers that this was just a rumor thread only, and nothing credible.

  25. Would Wicked Twister from the sister park count Checks off an Intamin coaster in the park LOL. Intamin fanboys would still complain though. Might as well put it where Timberwolf is since the Twister sister rose from the site of a former stadium

  26. I wouldn’t mind it! LOL! At this point, I don’t think it is going to Kings Island, but I really have no clue as to where it’s going. I am not really sure it will be going to Cedar Point. The chance it’s going to Kings Island is low, but I don’t really know any other park that has a higher chance of getting it at this point. Time will tell. I agree with this. I feel like Kings Island could bring back something like Phantom Theater or Der Spinning Keggars. Both Cedar Point and Knott’s Berry Farm returned new versions of old rides for their most recent anniversaries.

  27. I wouldn't be shocked if a new ride is involved. But I expect it to be more like what they did in 2019 when they brought back the antique cars than adding a brand new ride. I think it'll be more of a throwback year than about the future.

  30. After seeing this live, it is absolutely excellent. The vocalists, dancers and band are all top tier talent. It’s great to see so many familiar performers in all 3 of those categories The dancers are very tightly choreographed during the entire show as well as the vocalists being choreographed. As I said before, that is what was missing from the recent bandstand shows. Also worth noting that there are both male and female dedicated dancers which I only recall before in Hot Rhythm Nights. It’s a great balance. It’s a strong playlist of fresh music for KI shows. This show is very re-watchable as there is a lot going on the whole time with no downtime.

  31. I would just estimate if you think you go on The Beast a little more, a little less, or about the same as Banshee. Based on that adjust your 116 figure up or down a little, then multiply that number by 3 to adjust from 7 years to 21 years. For example, you think you go on Beast 90% as often as Banshee, 116 x 90% = 104. Then 104 x 3 = 312 for your estimate.

  32. The demand is so high, I really think it could look like this through the end of daily operations. KI being the only major CF park not capping dry park attendance could make the park the busiest in the chain this year.

  33. I think Kings Island needs to install new ride wait times signs throughout the park the same way as what Cedar Point does so I am hopeful it will be a good start for Kings Island to do that.

  38. Cedar Fair used to operate as advertised. They had a good reputation. But now they are becoming like C class Six Flags parks and Kennywood. If these parks keep operating like this they will have to depend 100% on locals. Nobody is going to waste their money traveling to a place that they don’t know will be open.

  39. I have overheard guests numerous times over the past couple years asking each other what the old arcade building is for or what is in it. It certainly seems like there could be a better use of that real estate. It is highly visible and right on the midway.

  41. Well, it appears the markers were not planted by the county, as the waterline was not given the go ahead. I guess it’s time to go back to square 1.
