  1. This is VERY reminiscent of the tragedy that occurred on Raven at Holiday World just prior to the start of “ Stark Raven Mad” in 2003. Tamar Fellner was a part of that enthusiast event and fell out of the train just prior to the start of the evening ERT. From all indications, the female that passed away was an enthusiast attending their “Hollywood Nights” event (which was essentially the re-named SRM event after the park took a few years off after the Raven tragedy.) Apparently she was found unresponsive just prior to the start of the ERT. My heart goes out to everyone involved. I was the newly appointed ACE Regional Rep when the SRM accident happened. I was at the event when the death occurred. To say it is an awful situation is a complete understatement. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wthr.com/amp/article/news/local/indiana/ohio-woman-unresponsive-holiday-world-roller-coaster-dies/531-c59df18d-1df2-4fe6-be9a-371047a85219

  2. Unfortunately no place is immune from that type of behavior. And for a second I thought it said a video of a fight you were in LOL.

  4. Along with the the passing of the lady last evening. A Holiwood night attendance shared a Snapchat with me of a fight happening in the water park today. So very sad to see some of our favorite parks dealing with these issues at a time everyone should be celebrating getting back to a somewhat normal summer.

  5. We checked out Soak City today. I enjoy it with reservations. Less people. More slides. I was expecting the water to be frigid. But it wasn’t too bad. Kind of refreshing on a hot day after the initial shock.

  6. Went on Wednesday during all the rain, and ate at the Brewhouse. The Pub burger and tots were hot and fantastic. Ended up staying all day in the drizzle then ate at Hank's. Best chicken bowl I've had in quite awhile. Went over yesterday, and the family wanted the Brewhouse again tried the BBLT. Not my favorite as the bacon was too chewy. Must be crisp for a sandwich. However in all my trips, and meals yesterday was the only bad experience with a meal. I will stick with the cod sandwich and burger at Brewhouse.

  8. There is a lot of lumber pieces piled up and some missing pieces that can be seen from the train if you know where to look, so it may be down for a little longer!

  9. Could also potentially be a replacement for an existing ride that was contracted out to CSF.

  10. I rode Snake River Expedition both today and yesterday! Very fun and clever ride; something really different than anything else at Cedar Point. Great theming all throughout too, complete with an IMAScore soundtrack! I’m really surprised I haven’t seen more people talking about this ride on the interwebs.

  11. I had the Pub Burger for my first meal and it was fantastic. It may be the best theme park burger you'll eat. I had the Sirloin Roast for the second meal. It was better the two previous times I had experienced it, today it was a little dried out. It was good to see Coney BBQ have both sides open today though.

  12. I think operations have been much more efficient, but a lot of food locations were still closed. From what I saw, The French Corner, Cinnabon, Graeter’s, Subway, Auntie Anne’s in Rivertown, and Rivertown Funnel Cakes were all closed.

  13. Went to the park today from 11:15-6:30 ish and had a blast! I got to see and do a lot more than I did Opening Day. I started with Invertigo, which was more intense than I remember. After that, I headed to Drop Zone, which was great. Also rode Bat twice (2nd ride better than the first), Beast (rough and bumpy, but in the best way; also, I love that wooden coaster wood/grease smell!), Antique Autos, both sides of The Racer (the re-tracked parts were amazingly smooth!!!) and Mystic Timbers (which was very fun!). Also saw the 5:00 Busker Jam and thought it was a great and creative show. It reminded me of Stomp! (the people who drummed on trash cans from the 90's) mixed with Blood Drums and also bluegrass. I also want to note that while waiting in line for Beast, it was so weird seeing the field where Vortex once was. The weirdness is not from missing Vortex, but that the field is just... there. While riding and after the ride, I realized that the field has some interesting terrain to work with. I'm not sure what could or would go there; we'll just wait and see.... Finally, while it was crowded, lines were not terrible today. The Bat's line was long the first time I rode (also, the Juke Box line was long but at least it was shorter than the line it had on Opening Day), but wait times I experinced were not bad as lines kept moving.

  14. Kings Island feels really crowded today, and the parking lot backs that up. However, lines for the major rides and and food really are kind of short for a Saturday. It is very interesting.

  17. I will allow that it might have been unrelated to a coaster. Again, I was at the intersection of Western Row and Kings Island Drive and was headed east. So, I really didn't have the time to really look at it. For all I know, it was a piece to a wireless tower.

  18. Not sure but it looked like steel coaster support on a flatbed over by the employee entrance today. It was a medium gray and approximately 20 feet long. This was at 4:15 PM. Could not take a picture as I was driving.

  20. As mean as it sounds, with an incident like this, the whole group should be ejected. That would prevent the abuse you took in line that could have ended much worse. Or they follow and harass you around the park.

  21. I debated on posting this experience, but after more than an hour spent with Leslie (dir. Safety and security) and Carl (area manager, security) I feel like it needs to see the light of day. I used the this line to report some line jumpers this morning. Sent pictures (their system can't receive pictures) and descriptions in addition to location information. AAAANNNDDD...nearly got assaulted for my troubles. As the single security guard that responded (he did everything he could in this situation) tried to remove them from the line, one of the offenders charged at me aggressively, swinging his phone around at me and yelling. I should note here that I had zero interaction with these guests. Didn't talk, speak, anything to them. He got to within a few inches before the security guard was able to yank him back. Security only removed half the group, so I was then subjected to verbal harassment and threats from the remaining group members. Needless to say I was and still am really ticked off. I went immediately to guest services and sat with Leslie and Carl to discuss the events. To her credit (and she is the first person in dir. level position to do so) she acknowledged KI failed in this instance and apologized for it, personally. While I appreciate the sincerity and honesty from her, I am left unsatisfied with the resolution. That "zero tolerance" policy... isn't really that. It's more "they'll get a stern talking to." Furthermore there are so many holes in their security and safety policies that it might as well be a sieve. Make of this what you will, but I think I may be done after this.

  24. Now just a few lights in tunnel 1. They are playing the snake sound effect, but you’d never know there are snakes in there.

  25. Yes I certainly did! (JoshuaEric is me, I didn't realize I had another account using my main email). I never even knew those existed. It was awesome to see everything working and I was in awe seeing all the guys arms working in the final tunnel with proper lighting. I can' tell you the last time I saw every one of them working, if ever.

  29. A couple weeks after a park opens (and especially opening weekend) are always difficult. Rides/ attractions/ food service sitting idle for months do take more time than you can imagine to get going full-speed- even after being tested before opening day. Combine that with seasonal parks not running at full capacity for 18 months, new employees, lack of employees, and guest expectations to Everest levels need to be considered. I will say that CF has not made it easy on guests and employees with all the differences for: seasonal passes, entry fees, Fast Lane, and entry times etc. We here can keep up with it due to talking about such things to a crazy enthusiast level, but for most guests and employees, there is no way they will have all the nuances down pat this early in the season. The typical guest did pay good money for their experience, and deserve the same experience opening weekend as you will have in August. CF needs to get back to the basics. Keep the lines open till the park closing time (and I'm sure that decision to close the lines early was made due to shortage of staffing). Get rid of Fast Lane as it creates too much animosity amongst guests. If the park cannot keep a majority of the rides operating, either discount the entry fee for the first few weeks or give out a discount coupon for later in the year or test full speed weeks before opening day. Get rid of the multiple seasonal passes as the perks for each one constantly get confused for many paying customers. Many of these opinions will likely not go over well, but it needs to be understood that parks like CP and KI operated & survived without perks for decades. During that same time, guest experience was put at the top of the list and was included with your park entrance fee. The parks today require additional money for a top-notch experience and when the parks fail to meet the expectations, the complaints are numerous- and some are justified.

  30. Who all is going to be at the park tomorrow? I'm thinking of leaving Indy around 8:30 tomorrow morning to get there for rope drop. It looks like it will be me, myself, and I going tomorrow, so if anyone wants to wander around with another human let me know!!

  31. The lighting is pretty much just upgraded throughout the entire ride, especially in the final tunnel, and all the animatronics are working perfectly. I don’t necessarily think brand new effects were added, but Kings Island did a great job of repairing the old ones that hadn’t worked properly in a while. One noticeable change is that the tunnel right before the first lift hill now had blue LED’s that give it a completely different look than it had before.

  32. Congratulations to her! Things like this are why KI is so ingrained into my psyche...childhood memories and the escape it offers. I am sure she will cherish these photos in the years to come!

  33. I think it will be several seasons before we get a new coaster because of COVID and also because of the chain in general. Since we just got a coaster this year, one would think that the other parks will get another coaster before we will. I could see Cedar Point and Carowinds both getting a new coaster in 2022 or 2023, KD is highly rumored to be putting in in their S&S Wing which if it is successful I could see them putting it at some of the smaller parks in the chain like MA and VF. I think over the next 4-5 years the park can focus on improving the Oktoberfest and Action Zone areas with more thrilling flats and more family flats and then eventually adding a big coaster to either The Vortex plot or somewhere in the Action Zone area.

  34. Holiday World released the following statement on their Facebook page last night: Earlier this evening, a female Guest returned to the station of The Voyage roller coaster unresponsive. Holiday World EMTs arrived three minutes later and immediately began to render first aid. The Guest was transported via ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Indiana. At this point, the Guest’s name has not been released. A full inspection of the roller coaster has been performed, and it was determined that the ride operated as it was intended to. The ride remained closed for the evening out of respect for the family. Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari officials ask for your thoughts and prayers for the Guest and her family, as well as for Team Members who were onsite.
