  2. I don't know, I think I once saw it open before COVID, but I could've been dreaming.

  6. Why would they pull the plug on it when they literally are almost done with it? It would be one thing to cancel when construction hasn't even started, but cancel now when they have the lodge almost completely built, the cottages/cabins in place, the rv sites in place, etc makes zero sense.

  9. Just had the muffin tips at The French Corner. Chocolate, Banana Nut, and Blueberry. Quite tasty and a nice priced shareable snack for 5.99!

  10. Maybe after the past few weeks Mason just defaults to crime? It’s called machine learning, dude.

  11. Pretty much all queue lines have had their social distancing markers removed too.

  12. Here is a crude diagram I put together I think would be beneficial for KI and the area. Adding a Hotel Breakers style Hotel and enclose the wave pool to be used in the winter time by Hotel guests. Also add a Kings Island Convention Center that can hold regional events.

  13. Keep in mind this is owned by a private company and is not owned by Kings Island. However, the owners have entered into a contract with Cedar Fair to manage it.

  14. So far a really excellent day! Low crowds as of now.

  15. Could also potentially be a replacement for an existing ride that was contracted out to CSF.

  16. ^ Absolutely! It was nice to see them stay open Wednesday and Thursday when they could have threw in the towel. Let's hope moving forward that continues so that people can plan for that and maybe help spread attendance out. No doubt the Tuesday crowd was a combination of the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, along with CP being closed. Some on Tuesday may have pushed it off until Wednesday or Thursday if they could predict the park would stay open. It appeared the days were also used for training for new staff, which is much nicer for new employees to learn on than a Saturday attendance day!

  17. Giving credit where due today Thusrday June 3! The original forecast was for 60% to 90% chance of rain all day. I went to the park since I had the day off against my better judgement given the forecast. The forecast changed a couple times during the day. It stopped raining about 1 PM let’s start it again around 630. They close the rides at 630 and actually reopened them after 7 in the rain until closing. The park operated today as it has traditionally They even ran both sides of Racer until closing. The only closed rides were Viking Fiury and Dodgem which seem to have rain issues plus WW Canyon.

  18. Maybe not what happened here, but the bar seating is first come first serve, so oftentimes when you see someone walk in front of the line at brewhouse, that's where they're going. As long as you're 21, you don't have to wait in line to sit there. Same for the high top tables near the bar.

  19. Thought I would share our experience from the last two visits to KI.... We were there on 5/22 but thankfully left before dark and missed the major incidents. However, we were in long line at Miami River Brewhouse when two late teenagers approached the restaurant, saw the long line, and decided to walk inside. They walked to where there is a menu displayed near the split to the two places where you place your order and discussed the menu for at least 5 minutes. Then they walked to the cashier and ordered food and drinks probably saving themselves at least 30 minutes based on our wait. I didn't think much of it other than it was just them being teenagers until our visit on Memorial Day. While waiting in line for Orion a group of 3 early teens (one of which had written on his gym shoes "Zero F**** Given") cut across near the entrance to the building that sits at the base of the steps to the station and proceeded up the steps. Nothing was said to them. Shortly after that 6 late-teenagers walked through the Fast Lane line into the building at the base of the steps to the station. They looked around and when the opportunity arose they jumped across to the regular line. People just looked around like they couldn't believe it happened and no one said anything to them. Then as we were going up the steps to the station two adults came walking through the line and very politely said excuse me to everyone they passed and said they were "looking for their mom". They got about four people from the front of the line and mysteriously must not have found their mom and got on the ride. I am not laying all of the blame onto Kings Island. They are obviously extremely short on personnel and cannot babysit each and every one of the lines in the park. This is a societal issue where people think they can do whatever they like and never be held to account. Knowing what had happened the previous weekend I also do not blame anyone for not saying anything. We were all there to enjoy the one nice day of weather we had for Memorial Day weekend and who wants a potential physical altercation? However, with that being said, those same groups of people are going to jump in front of the wrong people this summer and there will be another fight. I have been a season pass holder for over 40 years now and I can honestly say I have never seen multiple incidents of line jumping in one day like I did on Monday. Not sure what KI can do other than try to hire more "babysitters". Hope things improve going forward but my hopes aren't high.

  20. This is something I've never understood. Social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) are like bulletin boards in different places. If you're gonna put your message out there, you use every bulletin board you can find to make sure it reaches people. Instead, so many companies will just post key updates in one place. Like, use every appropriate method you can to get the message out (an email blast for cancelling Chef's Plate might be a bit much).

  21. Disappointed. Went today, rain and all, specially for the chefs plate. I knew about it from their advertisements on Facebook, specially from chef majors Facebook page. Apparently they put a notice out on Twitter that it was canceled, but I only checked Facebook so I didn’t see that. Wish they would have made more of an effort to let people know it was canceled (or at least an equal effort to what they did to promote that it was going to start today) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. I think a year round smaller to moderate sized hotel with a name brand that the park has ownership of and offers perks with could be very successful. Pair it with the next major coaster debut season. (Similar to Carowinds Springhill Suites)

  26. Looks like the park opens at 11am on the weekends, but what time are they actually letting people in? Is ERT a thing right now? I think I saw somewhere on here that there is no ERT, but they were letting folks in the gates at 10:30---or at least prior to 11? I think we're going this weekend. Would like to be in as early as possible and out early as well. Thx.

  27. Call me crazy, but I like the rattle. I feel DB is running a bit more aggressively this season, in a good way.

  28. I'm not sure what was up with Diamondback yesterday but it rattled really bad during my two rides. Normally it's fairly smooth with maybe a hint of a rattle. Yesterday I could even feel the vibrations in my seat. Perhaps it had to do with the heat? The only other time I've felt something similar on a B&M Hyper was at Six Flags Over Georgia on Goliath last year.

  29. I have no inside information, but sodding the entire course of Orion would be cost prohibitive with more detriment than benefit. It would add quite a bit to the mowing bill too. It does need a covering, so maybe they will seed it with pasturegrass (KY 31 Tall Fescue) and sweet clover. That solves the erosion problem, it will look good, and they can just bush hog it monthly. Then again, they may seed it with turf-type fescue and mow it like they did with Diamondback. It will have vegetation eventually.

  30. That doesn’t mean Kings Island won’t invest in TLC. While I wish Kings Island did plant grass seed or put sod down when Orion opened, they still have repainted buildings and given The Racer some TLC.

  31. Nothing is getting painted if Orion didn’t even get sod

  32. Sorry for the double post, but it is funny how little of Orion you can see on Kings Island’s map. https://cdn-cloudfront.cfauthx.com/binaries/content/assets/ki-en-us/general-information/explore/directions/2021-ki-park-map-and-guide-digital.pdf

  33. ^But the roof of the station? That's where the buckets, tarps, cones and flags, and pulley were located. The wood in the dumpster appeared to be mostly poles and some of the plywood. More of the grey plywood was sitting next to the dumpster and a pile was also seen under Bat's brakerun. I would check the SOB station for missing Wolfpack bits though.

  34. I would actually be surprised if they repaint The Bat. I have no problem with it, but other rides need a repaint more in my opinion. Cough. Cough. Diamondback.

  36. A few notes from today- - LOVE the TLC they did to Adventure Express. The tunnels being brought back to life, especially the last one, is a great refreshing touch. Also love the Tomb Raider music in the station. Loved that music building up the ride back in the day. - Spotted signs of potential painting and other things going on at Bat, cones with flags on top of the station along with brown and white tarps along with buckets and even a pulley. Also a dumpster with wood and plywood panels around underneath the station and brake run, plywood was grey (from Wolfpack or Blackout maybe?) - Heat made all the steel coasters haul a** today -Impressed with the staff overall for being this early in the season, glad I didn't let last night deter me from going, had a good day

  39. What do people hate about the restraints? I find the Banshee ones so much better than head banging OTSR! I'll take a little tight on the chest and walking off without a headache than freedom in the chest and head banging LOL.
