  1. I joked about it on the other thread but it does take time to onboard and train associates and the success of KI’s efforts were not mentioned.

  2. Last time I checked everyone was butthurt over the lack of a twitter announcement. Now they made the tweet, and everyone is butthurt over that. Orion isn't a Giga. It's not big enough, it's not open long enough. I can't get my dinner! After 22 years of marriage I've heard it all. And this thread is starting to sound the same.

  3. I had the chance to visit Six Flags Great America in 2019 and agree that Goliath is an incredible coaster. It packs an insane amount of thrills in a relatively compact footprint, and even though it's on the short end in terms of duration, it was probably my favorite coaster at that park. However, I'm personally glad Kings Island got Mystic Timbers and would choose it over Goliath. I really enjoyed the park, though it definitely had its flaws. I think visiting some other parks in the country has really made me appreciate having Kings Island so accessible growing up... it really is a top tier park.

  4. I got stuck on Banshee for a while today after a completely drenched ride on Delerium. It started absolutely pouring right as I was about to board. All and all I had a really fun day though. Got all the big rides in with no lines and made it in and out in about 4.5 hrs. Day's like today are why i brave the elements.

  5. And do not forget to check out Barnstormer! It is a fun ride, that is easy to miss as it is kind of in a tucked away corner of the park. Obviously Blazing Fury is a can`t miss classic as well. As others said, take in the shows. They are top notch. Outside of Kings Island, Dollywood is one of my favorite go to parks. It is the only other park besides Kings Island where I have had a season pass in the past!

  7. Why would they pull the plug on it when they literally are almost done with it? It would be one thing to cancel when construction hasn't even started, but cancel now when they have the lodge almost completely built, the cottages/cabins in place, the rv sites in place, etc makes zero sense.

  8. Maybe after the past few weeks Mason just defaults to crime? It’s called machine learning, dude.

  9. Hello! It's been a minute since I've posted here. Hope everyone is doing well! I'm going to Dollywood this Friday for the first time since I was a kid (as in mid-90's?). To put it in perspective; Thunder Express was still there then. I'm caught up on what I want to ride the most (Lightning Rod and Thunderhead) but wondered if anyone has suggestions on which coasters to hit first? We'll be getting there at park opening and I'd like to do any coasters that typically have longer waits first so we can do them all in one day and possibly do the best ones a couple times. Thanks in advance for the suggestions! Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  10. Okay, I misread what you posted. I thought you meant you thought there were more opportunities up there, thus driving up the cost.

  11. There are also far more job opportunities in this area than there are in Sandusky and surrounding small towns - especially warehouse positions (similar pay, year round work and benefits)

  12. Are the issues with Lightning Rod`s reliability still occurring this season after they did the refurb work to it in the off season?

  13. If you get to the park at opening then I would probably start first thing with Lightning Rod because it suffers from low capacity and downtime. From there you can either do one of two things you can either go reverse clockwise around the park and hit the rides that way or go back to the front of the park and hit them clockwise. If you don't get there at opening I would suggest going clockwise.

  14. I just don`t get them saying that they are closing two hours early for labor issues. The employees are already there. Its not like they are cutting out an entire shift. Seems to me more like a way to save on labor costs to improve the bottom line then a shortage of workers. Guests can`t spend money in a closed park... And keep in mind that they already cut one hour off the beginning of the day this year (and last year). Closing at 8pm sure makes it hard for people that work until 5pm to enjoy the park after work.

  15. hit up dragon flier, mystery mine, and firechaser up first in those order......

  16. Well that isn't very FUN news. So far Cedar Fair is laying a giant egg on what whould be an extremely profitable season. I really don't get it.

  17. Special shout out to the park for saving me money this season. Probably won’t be making it after work like I had planned when I bought my pass. Weak.

  19. I haven't been since the early 2010s, but I feel this still applies. I do feel Dollywood is the kind of park where you don't really need a day plan to get the most out of your day. If you want to save your legs, I'd head to Thunderhead first and curve around that way since that incline is easier than going up the hill at Craftsman's Valley. Its a hilly park regardless. BTW, my first trip was when Thunder Express was still there, too, but I've been a couple times since. Also, see at least one show, ride Dollywood Express, and get the cinnamon bread.

  20. Lines were low all day. longest wait was for MT and BBOBH which were each about 30 mins by mid afternoon. DB was only running 2 trains all day. There were a couple of pop up showers about 130 and 3 that each lasted 10-15 mins. the first one shut the outdoor rides down while the second only caused about half the ones I walked by to close.

  22. I think a concept idea for KI on KIC would have a better chance of being built first.

  24. I mean the only reason I Stay at Breakers or Universal premier hotels is due to logistics. It takes no effort to get into KI IMO.

  27. On Kings Island’s new website, there no longer a star next to the early ride time pass holder benefit indicating that it is not currently available. Is Kings Island bringing it back this year? It also says on the website to check back for early ride time attractions for this year. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/season-passes https://www.visitkingsisland.com/season-passes/early-ride-times

  28. It is a lot easier to be conservative with operating hours, then expand as needed as the summer progresses. I am hoping this to be the case.

  29. But sometimes you have to spend some money (and be open) to make some money. Maybe they are wanting to conserve money now and wait to see what happens in the next few months. Anyone know how well attended the Winterfest event was at Worlds of Fun compared to KI?

  30. You are right. They see a new coaster and say, "Hey Kings Island (or any park) has a new coaster, lets go try it out." They don't care what type it is or which manufacturer it came from. They get off of the Coaster and say, "I loved that my feet dangle there, it was so scary." They got the adrenaline rush the coaster provided and they want to ride another. All the little details are really not on the GP's mind, nor do they care.

  31. Complaints against floorless coasters come from enthusiasts who have the luxury of traveling to multiple parks. The same can be said for hypers, inverts and dives. Not many GP go to other parks.

  32. https://www.wlwt.com/article/kings-island-cuts-nighttime-park-hours-again/36666217 So if Cedar Point upped their pay for all positions to $20 an hour and it’s considered a wide success according to them then why is KI only paying $18/hr for a few positions and continuing to cut hours?

  33. Camp Cedar looks like an absolutely wonderful addition. Having said that, it would not surprise me in the least if the plug on this project was completely pulled before it ever opens. I thought that before reading that reservations have been cancelled, and also before the "incident" at the park. I'm actually kind of shocked that it was ever planned in the first place.
