  1. Each side had a Blue and Red train from The Racer's opening in 1972 through the 2007 season. I made the suggestion to have one side Blue and the other side Red prior to 2008. Depending on how long it took to dispatch a train, there were multiple times every day the ride operated from 1972-2007 when it was Blue versus Blue, Red versus Red.

  4. I really enjoy the Rivertown covers. The International Street covers of pop music, though...not a fan. But it is much better than the actual pop music that played on IS. I loved KD's polka, french/spanish/italian mix intertwined with classical and movie songs. (I have submitted a message to KI about the music).

  5. The cars were labelled N or S (North, South) depending on the side they operated on.

  6. I haven’t really payed attention to the soundtrack in Mystic Timbers’ entrance plaza recently, but I know for certain it was working in the beginning of the season along with the “do not enter” and “mandatory lockdown” voiceovers. I hope it still works or Kings Island fixes it if it is not working.

  7. In 1972, The Racer had four cars per train. A fifth car was added in 1973.

  8. I believe the radio in Mystic Timbers’ shed hasn’t been working for about a week now, but the screens seem to be working fine. I hope the radio can get fixed soon because that is probably my favorite part of the shed.

  9. Since those songs are not country... (cross-threading)

  10. The music throughout the park is absolutely horrible. They must be trying to save ASCAP fees or something. The only place that has a great track is Area72. The Kids Bop in Snoopyland - like mentioned above. some lyrics are appropriate. Pop music/country style in Rivertown - HORRID The same 10 song pop country loop playing throughout Coney, Oktoberfest and Action Zone is absolutely ridiculous. It is out of theme, and the music is AWFUL Pop music/instrumental in International Street - right type of music (instrumental) but wrong songs (pop)! This is at least tolerable. Plus the AWFUL songs in before & after the Royal Finale this year. Did I mention how much i hate the pop country in HALF the park?! I would rather have silence than most of this garbage.

  13. Okay, well that answers it. I thought for some reason they were red v blue for the first year.

  14. Sorry about responding to your post twice King Ding Dong. Not used to editing on here. For everyone else, the country playing I’m referring to would be after you’ve left the Festhaus and walked to Coney Mall area. But the covers in Rivertown are quite silly imo and I could so do without hearing those as well.

  15. I may be mistaken, but I believe both sides had a red and a blue train from the ride's opening in 1972 through 2007. It wasn't until 2008, when the backwards Racer was retired, that they finally made each side only one color.

  16. Gonna squeeze in a TR for another park before my main trip. Likely going to the Hartland next Monday. Sounds like a bad idea on paper (considering its the day after the 4th), but I'm okay with a shorter visit. Plus the Runs and Storm Runner are worth the venture.

  17. He was involved in operations at Six Flags. I find that interesting, and I'm curious to see how that plays out at the SeaWorld parks. Six Flags operations can be a mixed bag, in my experience over the last decade. The Texas parks have been on par with present-day Kings Island. Six Flags New England had the most maddening ride operations of any park I've ever been to, but their food service operations were fine. Six Flags America was bad at everything. In my head, inconsistency like that comes from not enough oversight at the corporate level. Other chains have been more consistent in my experience. What I don't understand, though, is whether the good operations were the standard and the other parks were falling flat, or if the bad operations were the standard and the other parks were exceeding expectations. And that begs the question of whether or not Tom Iven plans to tweak operations at SEAS at all, or if he's focusing on other things. I'm curious what his strategy will be going forward. It'll be interesting to watch SEAS over the next few years, assuming they don't fire him in a year, too.

  18. The soundtrack hasn’t been playing in the plaza the past couple times I’ve been there. I asked the Greeter yesterday if it was broken or if someone forgot to flip a switch, and she said that there never was a soundtrack in the plaza! So in other words, don’t expect that to come back anytime soon. On the bright side, if anyone wants to listen and/or record the truck audio, now is the perfect time.

  21. The last time I rode (June 20th), everything seemed to work, however, the front projector was obscured. The only reason I knew we got the tree was due to the sound effects.

  24. This weekend, I rode Mystic Timbers 4 times. All the times I rode it, the music in the shed didn't play. What happened? I liked hearing Maneater, Total Eclipse, etc when entering the shed.

  25. Well update...came to waterpark today at 5. Turns out music had changed! No more country! Instead it was non vocal upbeat horn playing music. Now on other side of park country still played

  28. I stand corrected, I did not read that portion of your post until you pointed it out. I did not pay that close attention when I was at the park yesterday (I like to enjoy the here and now). You have been or did. But until things develop further (or not), I do think that it could be remnants of destruction or construction of Orion. I think that is prime real estate for future development, but they have bigger fish to fry currently: Action Zone, Snoopy, Soak City and a big plot of land where Vortex once stood. Plus, a 50th anniversary celebration for next year. Not to mention having to deal with the after effects of a pandemic locally and chain wide. It would make more sense to let the new Area 72 mature before adding to it. But I am not an amusement park designer or planner. And I am a little confused about the last picture--are you saying this was a construction picture? There is a train on the track with people in it, and it is not a clear picture. If those spots that look like core drills are remnants that were covered, it would make sense that they appear now. If they were covered with a few inches to a foot of soil, it can wash away and whatever seed mixture was sown usually dies off quickly with thin soil and sunlight. Regardless, I do hope your theory ends up being correct and we do eventually have an expanded Area 72.

  29. MT wasn't running when I was there last Friday morning. Luckily, as I came out from lunch at MRB, it was testing, so I got in line. They called with the OK, so I got a ride on the 1st train of the day. Great ride, as always, but no effects. Definitely not quite as good. I might be the only one, but I think the shed is genius. I think it's one of the cleverest things ever put in at Kings Island. So many thoughtful details. I love the radio...I think it's the exact one that I still have from when I was a kid!
