  1. It’s been a great year if you ask my kid!

  2. As promised... Representation of old rides and new!!! The classic logo, with an added 40th anniversary banner... And I really like this... Keychain collectors should be happy, a lot of new chains this year, branded to individual rides... As a shotglass collector, the only shotglass for sale in the park is the new 40th anniversary one... Lots of ride t-shirts(and some sweatshirts for the B&M coasters) and coffee mugs in the Name-Year-Wonderland line, each ride a different colour... They have Minebuster, but not Wild Beast, read into that what you will...

  3. While yes breakthrough cases can happen. No vaccine is 100% effective. At least 90% of hospitalizations in pretty much every state are from the unvaccinated. Source: UNM Health Sciences

  4. Yes but children’s hospitals shouldn’t be full of patients with this virus. This could have all been over if those eligible would have gotten vaccinated. It’s a bigger mess now because hardly anyone is wearing masks, thanks to the CDC removing mask and distancing guidance too early.

  5. As was stated in the corporate press release, more details will be revealed in the weeks and months ahead. I would expect we will not hear much before the end of the regular season (end of October).

  6. They're trying to get the parking lot to get that "old wooden coaster" feel...

  7. We are buying Kings Island passes this year instead of Coney passes. More value for us and more stuff to do at a cheaper price. We went ahead and got Platinum passes so that we can make a few long weekend trips up to Cedar Point! One question, do I have to print out the passes for the first time to take to park, or can I bring up the qr code on my phone from the receipt they sent me to get in the park?

  8. If I were to guess, I think we would see a new indoor dining facility in Planet Snoopy when they decide to add a new attraction there or renovate the entire area. I could see Kings Island adding another new restaurant somewhere else, though, for next year. Weren’t there supposedly markers by the KillMart building last year? Maybe a new restaurant could go there. I think Kings Island could also try to bring back food items from the past for its 50th anniversary.

  10. Congo Falls is an intamin shoot the shoots ride that opened as Amazon Falls in 1988. However, ever since parks have started taking away these types of attractions, KI fans have speculated when the attraction would bite the dust. It also sits on a nice plot of land right near two other aging attractions that aren't popular (Invertigo and Timberwolf Theater) that could open up a nice plot of land right next to the front gate. How long do you think KI will keep Congo Falls and when do you think it will give it's last splash? What would you like to see replace it? Will Invertigo and Timberwolf leave along with it? Let's discuss here!

  12. Arguably the most Paramount ride to still remain at the park, BLSC sits on prime real-estate. Will KI ever remove this ride or is it too popular with the families?

  15. Even if you have a breakthrough infection, chances are it will be a very mild case of COVID-19. About 97% of the people in hospitals for COVID-19 are people that are unvaccinated. Obviously, children under the age of 12 are not eligible to be vaccinated at this time, but there are still many eligible people out there that aren’t vaccinated. There is a reason why states with lower vaccination rates are seeing spikes larger than states with higher vaccination rates. In June, it seemed like we were finally coming out of the pandemic, but since vaccination rates weren’t high enough to reach herd immunity, mutated strains like the Delta Variant have been allowed to move through the population. Now it feels like the United States is moving backwards from our earlier progress. At this time, vaccination is the best way to get back on track. https://www.npr.org/2021/07/16/1017012853/97-of-people-entering-hospitals-for-covid-19-are-unvaccinated

  16. QR code on the phone will work. Lots of people add their pass to their phone in the app and scan that qr every time they are here

  17. I would assume COVID protocals that were in place at the beginning of the season kept them from using that stage for shows.

  18. I will def be posting... I enjoy merch, I personally collect shotglasses, my wife collects keychains, and we don't exactly collect coffee mugs, but we've got way, way more mugs than any 2 person household needs... It was enough that the mugs from our travels together were used for the coffee service at our wedding... I've been fairly critical of Wonderland's merch selection for a long time, but have noticed a big improvement over the last few years... For as much as the term "per-capita spending" get's thrown about, for far, far too long the souvenir selection was very, very poor in comparison to most parks...

  20. I believe Six Flags is moving away from joint-announcements. Cedar Fair really only competes with a handful of Six Flags parks so I don't think there's much radar blipping like a lot of people believe there is. Cedar Fair and Six Flags compete in the sense of they both have the largest collections of parks in North America.

  21. Rumors suggest there is no big SIX announcement this year. Fiesta and MM are getting coasters, Over Texas is getting the Mack splash that was planned for 2021.

  22. SIX could announce the world’s tallest coaster for every park and it wouldn’t be a blip on Cedar Fair’s radar. They don’t compete directly in most markets. Now, Cedar Fair would be held accountable if one of their peers greatly outperformed them but let’s be honest here, SIX is going to screw it up.

  23. I have a feeling SIX is about to drop an anvil on CF when they do their announcements.

  25. Probably the exact same thing CP did. A parade and show, virtual park history tours, some contests like the Ticket for a Lifetime and a VIP experience that is hugely popular and coveted. Look at the throngs of guests last night at CP at the cash bar and watching TV instead of riding coasters. There are 2 guys chatting under that tent. Never seen more than 6-7 people in a VIP area at CP all season. The concept sounds great but in reality, Backstage passes, Exclusive Access and VIP Experiences can be boring AF if not done right. I have couches, TVs, free water and a stocked liquor cabinet at home. What I don’t have is flats and coasters.

  26. I'm not a Worlds of Fun expert but it wasn't an original Paramount park so there might have not been as much of a demand for a winter event and thus maybe lower crowds.

  27. So what’s going on for the 50th? You think they could at least say something.

  28. I find it interesting that Worlds of Fun, which held Winterfest prior to the pandemic, is not listed as having Winterfest again in 2022. Interestingly, the five parks they mention having Winterfest at are all former Paramount Parks... So did Winterfest at Worlds of Fun not attract the crowds and revenue that it did at the other parks? Hopefully KI has some kind of parade. My kids really enjoyed Grand Carnivale`s parade.

  29. Finish retracking and repaint The Racer, ideally with the original scheme, but just repainting it white would be satisfactory. Redo boo blasters (I'm actually fine with the attraction concept, just needs revamped, refreshed and consistently working guns). I know many want a return to phantom theater, which would be great, but I have trouble envisioning that going thru. I'd actually prefer a boat ride like they had years ago, but don't see that as possible either. Kids love boo blasters, so here's my idea: most important, all the guns need to work and work well. Revamp all the rooms to a different background. Pay some homage to phantom theater and even previous incarnations like the smurf boat ride (if possible w/o infringing on trademark licenses) at various points. Load up on easter eggs that pay homage to the parks history, present and perhaps even future. Make several items in each room easily interchangeable so that each day the ride is slightly different than the last. Even better if it could be done automatically while the ride is operating, but that would seem troublesome with each room constantly in vision of one or more cars.

  30. I am surprised it doesn’t say that Grand Carnivale will return at Kings Island for next year. Maybe the park will see its own anniversary celebration like Cedar Point. Also, I wonder if we are going to get a new restaurant because it sounds like Cedar Fair is going to be opening many new restaurants. At this point, I am very excited for Kings Island to release the details on their 50th anniversary celebration.

  34. This was a marketing mistake. They used a shot from Cedar Fair's secret park, a sister park in North's Korea called Kims Island.

  36. I think eventually it and Invertigo will go and a new ride will take their place. The two together open up a large area.

  37. I haven't been on Congo Falls in years. I have noticed that there isn't much ridership as well. Even if you leave Timberwolf and Invertigo out of the equation, it opens up enough space for a nice flat ride to go in there.

  38. I rode Drop Tower several times today and I saw nothing either. However, I don't think there were signs around Firehawk and Vortex during the summers of 18/19 before their removals. I think timberwolf wouldn't take longer than a few months to tear down.

  39. I would not be surprised if it left but I have thought for the last twenty years that its time was short. I would be curious to know its ridership numbers, but it is also a very efficient ride system by design. I did ride Drop Tower today and there are no signs of construction around Timberwolf regardless of what others have been floating.

  40. “Ever” is a very long time. The ride is a hit with families, but I do agree with the original post - I think its days will be over if/when they find a more suitable use for that land right in the middle of the park.

  41. I'm an hour south. Our hospitals saw admissions for Covid double in a week. I've heard rumors of cases at the schools, but since Indiana only does updates to those on Mondays, I don't know the numbers behind it. We've been back 7 school days now. No masks required at any grade.

  43. The worst part is the new delta is infecting the younger kids who have not been able to get a vaccine yet. Previously, they fought it off easily or were asymptomatic. Our children's hospital in Indy is full.
