  1. Speaking of theming older rides, look what Fiesta Texas did to Poltergeist

  2. I like Orion for the speed and I like Diamondback for the floater so I can't say I like one over the other.

  3. I have not heard anyone say that. I agree you can notice the drop difference, but the floater air on DB is hard to pass up for me.

  4. I don't understand why some people hate on Orion at times. I might be the only one who applauds Kings Island and B&M for creating something different with the GIGA design. I love the fact that in height, it's almost 300 feet, but then you make up for it with the 300 foot drop. I love that! Both air hills provide a different sensation of airtime with the speed hill and floater air time hill. Yes, it could be a little longer, but the park did spend $25 million or so on Orion. The price of steel is on the rise, so it's easy for us fanboys to envision spending the parks money. I might also be the only one that says this on here, but I like Orion slightly a little more than Diamondback.

  5. I would love to see the water feature come back to The Beast. I know there were issues with the pond/lake but maybe just enough to have to mill wheel run again. The sound of running water just makes things more interesting.

  6. I 100% agree! Diamondback is my 4th favorite in the park while Orion is my number one at the park! I rode Fury back in August and I will tell you I didn't notice as much of a difference in height while on it as I thought I would. It felt higher, but not as much as I thought. We definitely would not have noticed another 13 feet if it were 300 instead of 287. Drop is 300 feet and it feels the same as Fury's and every other giga drop so Orion is a giga.

  8. Back on topic I for one am proud of KI winning this award. Seems to me like a USA today poll is much more "diverse" of a voting pool than amusement park fan boys for the golden ticket awards. To be clear the USA today poll would also include people who do not necesarially have their finger on the amusement park pulse. Either way kudo's to the home team. It's a recognition well deserved!

  9. We opted out because with the 2020 tax filing the only thing that saved us from paying was the child tax credit for one kid. But I also worked double my normal hours due to lack of people, so it put us in a much higher tax bracket. I'd rather put off getting a refund than possibly need to come up with money to pay back.

  10. I had a dream last night that I was sent back to the Eiffel Tower and was assigned to go up the stairs and attach myself to a bungee and go up and do some checking on the tower and when I got down I realized I left both gates to the stairs open and there were a whole bunch of people who found their way up the stairs and onto the 50 foot deck and I had to get help from security to get people off and when the security guard came and asked me how it happened and I told her what happened, she told me that I would likely be getting multiple safeties (strikes that when something safety related happens that falls on a worker that could lead to termination) for it and then woke up and literally said "just a dream" lol.

  11. I don't feel like the ride serves much purpose other than for people to stand on the bridge to get soaked. I say ditch it and put a dark boat/flume ride somewhere else in the park (not likely to happen but I can dream).

  12. My thought would be they would relocate it next to white water canyon. Having all the water rides together is nice, like at CP. I have been thinking that they may remove/relocate congo falls, remove timberwolf and remove/relocate Invertigo to create a coaster to interact with the main gate. It just may take 2 - 6 years till it happens (which means it may already be in the planning phase).

  13. To the typical park guest, the Golden Tickets are legitimate. To an enthusiast, we can poke holes all day in the voting.

  14. My wife and I agree as well. Honestly, since riding Orion, we don't even ride Diamondback anymore.

  15. No, I also agree that Orion is better than Diamondback.

  16. The child payment is not considered taxable income. They only have to pay back if their tax filing status changes - like this year they made more than the previous and it bumped them to the next tax bracket, divorce, that sort of thing. From my observations, not many were deterred by long lines and made several visits. I believe we will hear at the end of year results call that the number of times a pass was used per person will be up this year over pre-pandemic numbers. The bigger question that plays into your concern is when the stimulus/child credit dries up, will these same families then purchase a pass or will they decide to spend their money elsewhere based on their experiences this year. Many of us have predicted that the short term gains CF tends to employ will come back to bite them long term. One of these days we will be right LOL.

  17. This is a new option in the French Corner. It’s a “don’t call it a Pop Tart” hand tart. It was very good and I think the price was only about $2.50. It’s about 30% bigger than a typical Pop Tart.

  18. I also hope the Son of Beast station finally comes down. It's interesting that one of the two purpose-built maze buildings isn't being used this year (Blackout, the other being Slaughterhouse). Also interesting that Action Zone has no haunted houses this year at all. If I remember correctly, there there was a time that there were three mazes in that area at the same time (Club Blood, Wolf Pack, original Slaughterhouse).

  19. I mean Planet Snoopy won Best Kids section for nearly 20 years. I believe they're focusing back on Planet Snoopy in the coming years. Orion is a completely different story. Read @KIghostguy's book and you'll understand. I don't understand the dated part. The park spent a ton of money renovating International Street, the Eiffel Tower is being repainted, they restored the glockenspiel at the Festhaus, brought back an antique car ride, I could go on. We did have a global wide pandemic that affected spending across the chain. The lack of shade part I can understand but the rest seems a bit exaggerated considering everything we've gotten under Cedar Fair.

  20. Planet Snoopy is run down. Hardly and trees. No quality dark ride. Poorly themed to the same handful of characters It doesn’t deserve an award. Orion was built for the 300 ft marketing but they only built 3/4 of a ride. Not deserving. Overall it’s not a very nice park. It feels dated, total lack of shade. Cedar Fair budget cuts are obvious this year. It’s sliding back into the Paramount days.

  24. I know many people that don't even rank Orion as a top 3 coaster within KI itself and most I talk to rank Diamondback above Orion, so this ranking isn't a shock to me...

  25. Orion finishing fifth is really disappointing. You shouldn’t have a $30 million investment and it’s only the fifth best installment. Who knows if it what have you even cracked the top five if the Busch Gardens parks had opened their new coasters.
