  1. Okay can we take a second and talk about the brisket they have in the Coney BBQ now? It is honestly the best thing I have ever had there and I am REALLY impressed (coming from a grill master that's pretty good). I am really excited to see what offerings they have at Winterfest this year because if this summer has been a testament to their dedication to food quality, I can't wait for this winter!

  4. I have been sitting on KI drive for the last 35 minutes- crawling along. The park is about as slammed as it gets. They are parking cars in the grass next to the road. Diamondback: 150 min Orion: 180 min Banshee: 90 min Mystic: 90 min Beast: 150 min Flight of Fear: 150 min

  5. And you have to do more than Chef plate offerings, and tasting events to get that as well. Why does Dollywood and Knoebels get this award - they do not have chain places providing food around every corner. When KI gets more offerings like the French Quarter and Brewhouse and Coney and Smokehouse BBQ and moves away from the Skyline and LaRosa's type offerings and more of the meals are the quality of the Chef Plate and tasting events and Brewhouse and French Quarter and BBQ, then we will see KI make a serious run at that category.

  8. The snack concept should become a thing for Cedar Fair. So far, I think it's just Dorney that has piloted it.

  9. I noticed in chefs Twitter he makes reference to looking for a golden ticket for food. While I LOVE the chef plate, it doesn’t have a mass appeal for most guests. I really think if they allowed you to use a meal on a snack instead (ice cream, funnel cake, etc) that would be the kind of improvement that the masses would respond to. 11. I doubt they have ever officially said "it will never run backwards again". Perhaps something to the effect that there are no plans to run it backwards again, but it wouldn't be good PR to paint yourself into such a corner with the words "never" on such a subject. It may not have been designed to run backwards and PTC instructions may instruct them to only run it forward (though I've always felt this was a dubious claim, instructions were likely how to mount it with no mention or thought to ever reversing the seats on the train. The ride had a rather lengthy history of running one side backwards with few to no incidents that I'm aware of. I doubt it would be that hard to have an engineer or design professional form an approval letter for running it backwards again if that is all it takes. Its always been my belief that PR's claim that they turned the far side around was primarily because that is the way it was intended and originally ran to bull. I believe the main reason they turned it around was so that both ride experiences were essentially the same and on slow days or at park opening, they could keep one side running, and the other side down and not take anything away from their guests. I don't recall if ridership (at least when I was there) was significantly less on the backwards side or not, but that could potentially play a role as well if the general public just didn't like the backwards experience near as much. Personally, I always loved the backwards experience and it always gave me a reason to ride it twice on each visit.

  12. These types of projects rarely get built. The problem is typically financing. Designing and building is the easy part. Finding the money is difficult. I took a look at the website. The developers do not appear to be putting any money into the project. The design was even paid for by $250k from Middletown. They plan to pay for the project with $1.1 billion in bonds. I am on the fence about this projects chances. This group has successfully built projects in the past. But nothing on a scale even close to the size and expense of this proposal. I suspect they will have a difficult time issuing the bonds.

  13. Yeah, and the Columbus area was going to get a $2 billion "sports and entertainment" resort a few years ago. Chances of this getting built are extremely slim.

  14. I think people around here just associate September with the buyouts at the park with how long they've done it.
