  1. I went up to Kings Island tonight expecting rain to quell the crowds. Alas, that didn't occur until later and the rain only served to close the park slightly early. Got a full round of rides on the big coasters sans Backlot and grabbed a few rides on Drop Tower and Delirium to boot. I seriously need to ride Delirium more. Its such a great flat, especially at night seeing all the colors of the park fly by at various angles. Rain did help in the wooden coaster department. Got my first taste of Racer in the rain with the re-tracking, and oh boy is it so, so, so goooooood. For Beast, I knocked off a bucket list item in getting to ride it during a thunderstorm. 2 cells had just enough space to allow the last 2 trains of the night to dispatch, I got LROTN, and it is something out of the RL Stine novel. Completely insane and awesome. One of my favorite night rides I've ever had. Planned on 1-1, but decided on 4-2 instead, which, not only protected me from the rain a bit, but I also got to see the train silhouetted against the 2nd tunnel via lightning, which is the most epic Beast moment ever. I also got my first night rides on Orion, and it delivered pretty well. Good lighting package, and the first drop feels like it takes forever and feels like you're dropping into a big black void. Also helps that it, Banshee and Bat were hauling a** tonight. Bat in particular had an extra dose of intensity to it. Also, also, I miss Vortex.

  2. I really hope they do more focus on flat rides here over the next few years or so honestly. Feel like the park has been lacking in that area for decades. The fact that they are cheaper might make a good way for them to add new rides each year without spending much. Especially if they added 3 one year, be a bit to market then. Could add 2 or 3 as an expansion to Area 72 in the empty space by Flight of Fear.

  3. My daughter enjoys the jack-in-the-box and green ogre. In 2019 they were both along the Coney Mall. I saw a green ogre at CP and assumed KI's had been relocated. Last weekend, I heard the ogre's voice in the distance, between DB and BSC, but didn't investigate. Based on your sighting, I'm glad to hear he is still with us.

  5. Any one else think that Kings Island could use some more thrill rides? With Drop Tower and Delirium being the main ones, they could definently use a ride that sends people upside down. Especially since their two newest coasters don't invert.

  6. It is down a lot and there are reason but be assured it it is safe and they are working on making it more reliable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I would like to ride Delirium more too but am usually with someone who isn't a big fan of spinning flat rides. Plus even if there's a short line, you're still stuck waiting on the next cycle. A good lighthearted Haunt attraction would be nice to see. Like something more on the level of Phantom Theatre but in maze form. Certain mazes definitely focus too much on gore. I'm pretty desensitized, so maybe I just find it boring but adding more fake blood and guts doesn't make anything scarier, imo.

  8. @purdude86 You've got that right. I think it's even worse when you consider the lack of traditional sized flats. What was the last "non- giant" flat that was added that still exists... maybe Viking Fury around 1981? Woodstock Gliders was added several years back if you want to count rides in the kids area. I'd love to see something they used to have come back and several new ones. Put them in Oktoberfest, Rivertown, or Action Zone because Coney Mall has almost all the flats. My picks: Spinning Barrels (Keggers)/ Tea Cups (Culdrons), Huss Swing Around/ Larson Mega Bounce Zamperla Super Air Race/ Air Race Zamperla Endeavor Larson Tilt-a-Whirl/Mega Whirl Gerstlauer Sky Roller

  9. I then vote for Mondial Top Scan (the type of ride Carowinds' Electro-Spin is) in Area 72. That would look amazing against the backdrop of Orion's lighting package at night. Anyone still make Top Spins out there?

  10. A Screamin' Swing would be a good fit for the unused land behind Showplace, it wouldn't interfere with the I-Street view because of the terrain drop behind the tower, and would give Rivertown a flat ride again.

  11. Racer and AE were both just walk on. So is The Bat.

  12. A Mondial Top Scan would be great... And a Huss Jump^2 would be nothing but a constant maintenance nightmare... It's a fun ride, but the existing one is down for maintenance more than it's working, and to try to reduce problems, some of the gondolas don't spin anymore and the ride cycle has been repeatedly nerfed... I think a Gerstlauer Sky Fly would be fun...

  13. I would love both. A Screamin' Swing is my big wish for a flat ride. Think it would go in great where Crypt's building is too. Could theme it to a barn or oil rig and keep the cave and retheme it as a mine to have a covered queue for it.

  14. Getting back to the topic, I feel like any park in the chain's "big four" could receive one. I'd even throw in Kings Dominion. Ironically, Kings Island is the one park I would think would be the least likely of the five parks I just listed to get one. We're missing that traditional looper and I feel like spinners aren't for everyone. Kings Dominion needs a stand out coaster which an extreme spinner definitely is. Carowinds is always in talks of getting something big but with them getting Copperhead Strike it would be unlikely that they would get something else from Mack so soon. Canada's Wonderland needs more support coasters and more launched coasters so I feel like one would fit there well. Cedar Point is always adding new, exciting, coasters so a record breaking spinner would certainly turn heads but I don't think they would be ready for one any time soon. In my opinion: Kings Dominion Canada's Wonderland Cedar Point Kings Island Carowinds If Cedar Fair decided to get an extreme spinner I think it should go to Kings Dominion. It could be a first for the east coast and could give people more of a reason to go to the park after they've removed so many attractions.

  15. This is the Cuddle Up from Kings Island. I am currently restoring footage from 1972. I also have footage of Halley's Comet and Indians running around. Lol. Hopefully I can reveal the whole video in a story on my site. Still waiting to hear back from the owner of the video. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
