  1. Here's a wonderful pair of photos showing the flume with the lights. Both photos were previously shared in the Kings Island History Facebook group by user Pete Leaf Peters.

  2. If I can be perfectly honest here, I would find it hard to believe that KI would annex this area for RT. It already is a pretty lopsided part of the park in terms of coasters and for them to add another filler/new thrill coaster to it would completely screw up the feel of the park in my opinion. I think in all honesty, they should keep the Coney Mall theming, focus on the classic feel that they want in that part of the park and work with it. There's no doubt in my mind that they could work on creating a new experience with a company like Vekoma to create a coaster at least similar in thrills to Vortex. They have the make up, they have the technology, build something better with modern technology. Which mind you, I would love to see The Vortex name or at least some form of weather phenomena used for the name as I think it worked really well with the park. I would not advocate for a B&M Dive however. In my opinion it's way too compact, which defeats the idea of a Dive.....unless you make it go under the walk way and finally get rid of the eye sore that is the 3 Point Shoot Out aka the headache that took out our treasured and priceless Flyers. That would be a beautiful view to see and would definitely put the park back on the map for having revolutionary concepts mixed with park theming. (And totally not due to the fact that I hate the basketball games and the pop music they play that gives me headaches)

  5. Sorry, I don't think I want LED DMX lighting like that in Rivertown. Rivertown is meant to be more rustic/western/country. I think LED DMX lighting would ruin that imo.

  6. Just wondering if anyone remembers the colored lights the flume used to have on the drop? I remember back in the 80's it was real neat to walk by at night and see the different colors glowing underneath the falling water of the hill. Anyone have any old pics of this? It would be cool if KI brought this back for the 50th.

  7. Too many clubs have treated the everyday guest like 2nd class citizens and have also treated parks like they need to bow down to the almighty club. When parks said "no" to certain demands the club(s) have retaliated against the person that said no to the point of jeopardizing their livelihood. Many in the the clubs have developed a gang-like mentality: if you are not with us, you are against us. It shouldn't be like that. Have fun with it. Enjoy the camaraderie with others and when a disagreement happens, do it respectfully.

  8. I don't see it as an entitlement. Sorry you feel that way.

  9. I see two sides to it: 1) There are a lot of people who aren’t coaster club members who may want to attend. Why should they have to give money to a third party just to buy a ticket? 2) Coaster club members are the most likely to want to go to this, so how many die hards won’t get to go because some tickets were purchased for a family of five where three of the five attendees don’t want to be there?

  10. I almost made a post earlier saying I did not know DMX visited KI and had rode RFRLCB.

  13. Yes, that would look very nice, I hope to see the lights return as well soon. The park was really ahead of its time, it's no wonder KI 'wowed' visitors when it first opened.

  14. I'd actually like to see Beast get a Baynum project to use the original stain once all the work is completed.

  15. WOW! That video has the lights displayed on the flume. It would be great for them to update to LED floods and do some neat effects with different colors using DMX. It just looked real neat back in the day.

  16. I still wish Diamondback was getting fixed up, it's a really glaringly bad fade-out, and Banshee faded surprisingly quickly, but what they ARE doing is probably the most paint in one year since the park was first built.

  17. I wish they would give Sling Shot and Skyflyer a lighting package. Skyflyer's was awesome in the 90s.

  18. I remember seeing the lights on the log flume in this video from 1980. At around 1:30 in the video, you can see the lights down the trough with a log going over them:
