  1. I think the park has never looked better in all the adult years I have been going as it does now. I love the miniature sunflowers they have put in. The new trees planted on the train route. The 50th flower logo by the carousel. The big potted plants. The grassy area in front of Adventure Express (as much as I hate the loss of the trees, it does look so much better now than before). I went on passholder preview day and was not fond of the "elevator music" on IS, but now it has grown on me. I saw people of varying ages moving to the music, subconsciously. Kudos to a job well done, KI!

  3. I agree that Kings Island looks way better than it has in years. However, I noticed that the Orion soundtrack is not blasting around Area 72 like it once did. It seems like some of the speakers are out because it is hard to hear anything. Also, the Orion soundtrack no longer plays in the station for Orion which is disappointing. Hopefully the park notices, so these things can get fixed soon. Also, I noticed that The Racer’s turnarounds were not completely repainted. Sure the track has been repainted, but the actual structure looks pretty bad. Only parts of the structure visible in the park were repainted. I hope that Kings Island is holding back because they are planning track work for next year, but it is noticeable that the whole ride was not repainted when riding. Lastly, the Fun TV’s around the park and even some of the TV’s with theming in Mystic Timbers’ queue are not working. I personally think it looks bad that so many TV’s are out in addition to the interactive display boards around the park. It gives the effect that Kings Island is negligent with upkeep. These criticisms are not merely digs at the park. Kings Island has been doing a great job with making the park look great recently, and I want the park to look the best it possibly can.

  4. Guess they don’t want to build another rollercoaster that sinks into the ground /s like Hawaiian said there was a bulldozer or something that cleared out some trees near the service road entrance I believe. In addition I also saw a lot of activity near Banshees pretzel roll and the woods by AE.

  5. The mower might mean more than you think. I don’t believe the grass on The Vortex plot of land has ever been cut, but I noticed a section of it was mowed earlier today. I think it is plausible that the equipment could be used for taking soil samples in preparation for the planning of a new attraction. I think soil samples are taken 2-3 years before a new attraction opens, so it would make sense if Kings Island was planning to open a Vortex replacement in 2022 or 2023.

  6. According to Mike Koontz at Coasterstock the drones will be on the right side of the tower so it isn't them.

  7. I disagree with your first point about how Cedar Fair will never be able to pull off an adventure themed area accordingly. The new jungle xpedition area at Kings dominion looks absolutely incredible. I don’t think guests really care if a jungle isn’t regionally authentic to Virginia. I do however agree that the park needs a significant visual improvement. Action Zone is a mega eye sore, the center of the park is just grass and shipping containers and of course the massive empty plot of grass in coney mall. I hope management continues to work toward better thematic Elements of the park. Rides like Orion have decent theming but it seems like they only had the budget to the meme 1/5th of the queue.

  8. Something is going on, I can feel it. There has been a lot of activity going on at certain spots that only one can wonder if they have anything up their sleeves this next few years.

  9. Being at the park today I looked and feel that if something big goes here. It needs to clearly be part of Coney and enter from the back area by WindSeeker. Rivertown is already visually and operationally busy enough at that entrance area, and the back of Coney is beyond dead. That whole end needs a refresh and reorganization with something meaningful going in The Racer turn around so you can really appreciate that (wish wind seeker went there years ago instead of where it is clogging the paths into that area ) and open up that whole plaza with an entrance to a new signature ride like “TheBigRedMachine”.

  10. At 8:31 of this video. With him saying International Street I take that as ET. For what it's worth I'd be very surprised if we got our next coaster before CP, Wonderland, and Carowinds but with the chain being desperate to sell passes anything is possible.

  11. How can we set our expectations for anything, though? We know nothing and nothing has been teased, but I guess @Shaggy heard something. @disco2000, is Kings Island just using Vortex’s plot of land to launch the drones?

  12. How to set people up for disappointment 101. Considering people were disappointed over Orion, a 31 million dollar giga coaster I think it’s better to set reasonable expectations here.

  14. A little update from today: so nothing too much, but I did notice a bunch of trucks going in and out of there as well as people going in and out of the gray trailers. Obviously it could just be maintenance, but I don't know. Also, I noticed in the area where the station was, there was a small section of dirt moved around a little making like a large square shape. Idk if that means anything. Also, the station area is the only area they mowed.

  15. It's quite possible that the sounds are protected by copyright that Cedar Fair doesn't have the rights to.

  16. They slowed it down at the MCBR since the water is not there to participate in the braking system. My four rides today had a little different experience as it hit the MCBR: Complete stop on the MCBR for a brief moment. A crawl thru the MCBR. A crawl thru the MCBR and then held it momentarily with only the back car on the brake system. Fairly normal speed at the end of the night on a train not full.

  17. Can we even consider the track anymore with all the different types of engineered woods they are using these days?

  18. Are there red/ blue/ yellow/ orange/ green spray paint markings on the ground outside of the fence? That is typically a dead-giveaway that something is happening in the area. Each color signifies something underground: utilities/ sewer etc. These markings are needed before any digging is done.

  22. Love it. My “concept” would be there are essentially 5 theme areas. International Street (with a “cross street” at the top that connects Adventure Express and Hanks as “Fiesta Plaza” over to (former-now Panda Express) Chick Fil a as Asia Courtyard with new landscaping) Oktoberfest goes from existing all the way to The Bat, Coney Midway that now includes the walkway to RiverTown with some new kid-friendly flats , and RiverTown Junction that flows into CampSnoopy. Each of these areas would tie back into Cinci History or typography. Get rid of ActionZone and unify the whole of Oktoberfest with new landscaping and banners (like we’re there years before). The new section could be more modern to reduce costs and be accomplished mainly through surface treatments and decor.

  24. Likely means nothing and I don't have pics bc I can't have my phone while working, but I have been noticing a little bit of activity in The Vortex plot lately from the tower. A couple weeks ago, some gray trailers popped up. Obviously those could mean nothing, but its not wrong to speculate. Earlier today, I noticed a few pieces of equipment near the trailers. I believe I saw a digger and a mower (which obviously you need to mow the grass so the mower likely doesn't mean anything). I also saw people down in there as well. The equipment was there for like an hour and then they left the site. I believe one of the trees was also cut down. Kinda interesting, but likely doesn't mean anything so trying not to get my hopes up for anything major yet.

  26. Finally! After a few seasons of the control boxes for the trees in coney just laying in the mulch they have covered them all with fake rocks. Now if there was just something planted around them.

  28. Is there actually national attention on FunTime? Does the public ever really care about the manufacturer of a ride where someone died? Shouldn't that mean [insert manufacturer] would have gone out of business by now?

  29. https://www.wsaz.com/video/2022/05/19/wsaz-investigates-kings-island-removes-slingshot-ride/ The reporter finally got a response from the Kings Island spokesperson after having to reach out to corporate. Corporate referring the reporter back to Kings Island, then a spokesperson bothered to respond. Allegedly it has been removed for future expansion. …But if this is true, why was the Kings Island spokesperson dodging the media?

  30. To whoever the gentleman in the glasses with the Cedar Point straps is that was waiting in line for The Beast, you're my hero. Early in the day I had kids sprinting past me in line and I was angry at myself for not reacting quick enough to call out the line jumpers. You, however, were ready. 4 men tried to cut all the way to the front of The Beast and you confronted them. They told you to F off and you guaranteed them you would make sure they did not get on the ride. Sure enough, as they were boarding the ride security came and pulled them out. You did us park goers proud and so did security. I stopped into guest services to let them know how swift and professional security was.
