My hope is this show is a smash.. and gets held over into next season (as shows used to do waaaaaay back in the day,,, Celebration etc.) But more importantly, I hope its a smash and sends a message about how, to this very day, the attraction remains immensely popular... (I plan on seeing the show tomorrow... VERY excited!)4 points

There’s a HUGE flaw with that new poster. The horse is facing the wrong way. Carousels always turn counter-clockwise. Somebody should have caught that. Tsk tsk tsk. Out of all the wonderful posters they’ve produced, this is my least favorite. Such a shame because the KI Grand Carousel is, by far, the most beautiful thing in the park. Here’s how the image should look: ( minus the obvious backwards wording of course)3 points

My guess/hope is the PLC contractor is still under contract and the station programming is a punch-list item to be addressed soon.3 points

It seems to be Cedar Fair policy to only race racing coasters between noon and 8.3 points

I would say yes, but because the ones who were coming to the concert are pass holders. I am guessing they are hoping non pass holders will buy a ticket for the day or day after while there. Triple the money get get from that person at the concert.3 points

As a certain member (who hasn't been active here in several years) would say, yes, someone has seen it (those who have been here a while will get the reference )3 points

Fantastic show, fantastic lobby preview! 10 out of 10! The original scrim and original animatronic head plus sculpture was a very welcome addition. I also learned they removed the moving bust from Boo Blasters just for this event. It’s apparent that they have put lots of love into this show. Highly recommend! They had more stuff these are just a few of the photos.2 points

Past history has indicated it is a very strong likelihood that a preview show will happen. Edit so as to not double post: About 350 saw the first show. Who saw and what was your favorite part? Anyone like what they saw in lobby (or are you too young to appreciate lol)?2 points

Yes the JDRF One Walk is tomorrow (Saturday). Likely setting up for that as it takes place early in the morning.2 points

I wonder if theses concerts will draw lots of people from the park during the concert.2 points

Alice: "stop the park, I wanna get off" lol EDIT: Drayton Manor in the UK is opening a nebulaz themed to vikings. Looking at this ride and how the color scheme is, I think a similar color scheme themed around beer brewing would be great in Slingshot's plot of land! loved the lobby-gave it context. love that there was actual concept art/ model and pieces from the ride. Enjoy it pokes fun at past management and it’s own history. Wish there was more “dancing” that added energy to the show-it dragged a bit with the headliners. Umm, why no close with “you’ll be baaaaack”???1 point

Absolutely, Paul did an awesome job with the lobby! I took pics, but will wait until tomorrow to post them.1 point

I just got my 13 year old daughter's input on the show. She really enjoyed it. Her review: The jokes and storyline were good. I would like to have seen a little more of the acrobatics along with more of the backup dancers incorporated into the show.1 point

The show has a lot going on. The action is reasonably timed to the music. This show doesn’t utilize the fountains as much as previous years since it has all the other effects. It’s a good long show. I like that the fireworks are not constant and seem to be timed to the music better than they ever have been. They recorded a custom song for the show, which is the best music in the show. The rest of the music is stop and go, corny and fairly incohesive, but related to park history. In the version I saw, the drones appeared at the start of the show then left a couple of songs before the end. Is that tge normal timing? If that’s the case it makes it a little anti climatic since they are pretty fantastic.1 point

Honestly I get what they are trying to do here but it seems unfair to those of you that scheduled around trying to be the first to see the show on Saturday.1 point

I agree! On my last trip, I was amazed how much airtime I got on the drop (in the back) - especially with those buzz bars!1 point

NebulaZ looks like fun but Zamperla's website says the theoretical hourly capacity is 360, so I doubt KI would go for something like that. Slingshot's capacity was terrible as well but at least it was an upcharge so the lines weren't that crazy. For unique flat rides, maybe a Chance Aviator would work.1 point

Carne Asada fries at potato works. (Without nacho cheese) Great option. Great, thick fries. Fresh Guacamole, pico, and steak. Wouldn’t have said no to more steak and pico… but I’d get it again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

One thing I hope they look into with Timberwolf now is inviting some area community bands to play. There are a TON that play over the summer and they're all pretty decent.1 point

With Mike Koontz saying at Coasterstock that these concerts are a test. Maybe if they are successful, KI could look into doing something similar to what Busch Gardens Williamsburg is doing where they do a full on summer celebration event from June to August where they have big concerts each Saturday during that time as well as have AGT acts as well. https://buschgardens.com/williamsburg/events/summer-celebration/1 point

Glad they finally decided to put that area to good use again. I wonder what they'll do with it during Haunt since they usually have CornStalkers back there (and a family-friendly area during the day).1 point

The ride carriage was repainted. I think there was every intention of it operating this year.1 point

Does anyone know if Sling Shot was listed in the list of rides they were painting for the 50th this year?1 point

This is the first thing I did when I got to the park today and I really enjoyed it. The engravings turned out nice and it was cool to go through Kings Island's history, one stone at a time (and also the billboards). And the Eiffel Towers representing the coasters were really cool; I think my favorite was the Adventure Express one.1 point

True. It’s odd that this wasn’t talked about. I bet it’s a blog post soon. AND a missed opportunity to make it more “interactive” by NOT putting the ride names by the towers. Wish there was a board when you entered with the logos or names listed and a QR to scan to check the answers. If you really wanted to take it next level and “gifts for the 50”, correct guesses entered BEFORE checking the QR code enters you in a drawing for a set of mini ride theme towers.1 point

All thats probably melted down now, so all thats left of it are the track slices that are sold. Plus the 2 or 3 other people that own big pieces of it. (Sally Boyer, Carolyn, and someone else) which makes me curious exactly, how many of those pieces were produced? Ive heard 200 from several sources. Which also makes me question something: may my thread on here have actually contributed to the park even selling them at all? I think it might have, which is actually pretty cool!!1 point

I would also like to see the Banshee lighting package updated. Banshee's light package from like 2014-2018 had a lot of LED lights and a little fog, but it seems like lately the lighting package has been disappearing and not as good as it used to. The LED movers that were in the queue were I think removed after 2018 which is a shame. The maintenance lights on the lift also seem to be burnt out. I'd like to see the lighting package updated maybe for its 10th anniversary in 2024 along with a repaint. I'd also like to see a purple LED strip added to the lift like on Orion. I'd also love to see that. Maybe build a wood queue house over the queue line. Also please repaint Diamondback.1 point
