  1. Also guilty, but my number may be a little higher by a lot…

  2. Ok so at the park today I noticed a Timberwolf sign with an arrow pointing to the new smoking section on the left. There was another sign there (larger) pointing to the left. My guess is the "clearing" they are doing is for Timberwolf only guests to go through a metal detector, go to the left through the large wooden gate and walk to the left side of Timberwolf. Seems like the smartest thing rather than installing new metal detectors and having an extra security crew.

  3. Hiring Barry Williams has nothing to do with using a copyrighted logo (that Paramount owns ironically) it does seem odd that they would’ve used the logo without it being fully approved. anyone know if the additional lasers are in use now?

  4. You do realize that the performers in the parade are in the Club show right? They need time to change and need a break after 45+ minutes walking/performing (especially in the heat as it has been). Plus if someone is watching shows continuously they aren't spending money in the park on food/drinks/games/merch/etc. After all they have added a 5th stop (at the front gate). As far as the concept art, it's exactly that. CONCEPT ART. No there is no basketball hoop man (like there is at CP 150th) and no spaghetti bowl (maybe couldn't get the license from Skyline or to have them pay for the costume in time?). Probably was a matter of employees and who could/would commit to a DAILY parade at 6:00 considering every other show has 1 day a week they are off. KI is doing a great job and I wish more people would be appreciative of what they have rather than what they could have. All in all I never expected this level this year. It reminds me of Winterfest. When they brought it back it exceeded my expectations and has stayed at the same high level since it came back. Carnivale, same thing. That's what gives me confidence that the summer entertainment is here to stay. It's much cheaper than a new ride and can be refreshed every couple of years (please keep Phantom around for 2 seasons :)).

  5. And the two rolling present units would’ve looked great flanking the stage. The cake would’ve added some height to the area and made that whole space into a “party zone”. Wonder why they spaced them out. I agree that was one of the strongest parts of carvivsld they way it just flowed from one event into the other as the evening approached.

Up 21% thru Memorial Day compared to pre-pandemic 2019 despite 14 fewer operating days in 22 compared to 2019...Season pass sales up 24% and season pass add-ons up 46% compared to same period in 2019 https://ir.cedarfair.com/news/news-details/2022/Cedar-Fair-Reports-Record-Revenues-Through-the-Memorial-Day-Weekend/default.aspx

  7. I watched the first show of Off The Rails. It is now my favorite show in the park. In my opinion, it tops Phantom Theater Encore hands down.

  8. Dream scenario- the area by potato works looses the out of context giant Sprite umbrellas and that entire area gets a permanent cover with ceiling fans and wooden picnic tables (as does the area by funnel cake) if sprite wants to pay to promote-they get vintage tin signs and crates of glass pop bottles with their logo. On one end a stack of crates and “stuff” can open up quickly to become a stage for Busker, something similar, or just country/bluegrass musician. Lighting and sound incorporated into the structure. Do the same with bier garden (not sure why they took down the more permanent structures they had there) and do brew beats or something different than busker (seemed like a lot of banging last year LOL) done would say I don’t appreciate what we get, but I totally do, I just love thinking outside the box for pluses.

  9. Last time I saw the show it was Brady Bunch. Maybe a copyright issue? Either one would be fine with me. Us who remember the Brady Bunch seem to be dying off and is not quite part of the popular lexicon as the word Groovy (it does kind of give an Austin Powers vibe with the flowers on the buildings. ) Lower to the left and behind the tower may save on battery or that the d in the name might be getting to the edge range of the radio for the drones? Not sure if they are controlled by radio to keep in time with the music or if they are internally programmed individually. Does anyone have any ideas? Best place to see the show is the front gate. The lights on the buildings, laser and lights on the tower and the lights and water in the fountain along with the fire really make it a perfect viewing spot. I always stand to see the fountain lights better rather than sitting, just make sure you're not standing too close to the fountain to give people a chance to sit if they want.

  11. Anyone else notice @VortexBFForever on the Tv’s in the queue’s? I did. And I stopped to watch the whole dang segment. Awesome job Carolyn! (I think I spelled it right?). Thank you for giving us a behind the scenes look.

  12. Also a 28% increase in in-park per capita spending. Very good news. Hopefully the rest of the season is good for the chain as well.

  15. I do not recall seeing as many people at CP wearing their anniversary gear as here. I can hear it now "Our 50th anniversary clothing sold so well, let's do 51st anniversary next year"

  17. I agree. It looks great. I admit I rolled my eyes a bit a few months ago when the lineup was announced and we got.., “a scooter stunt show??? Really? For the 50th we get stunt show?” But this is WAY more with history, a “plot” and so much going on you definitely have to catch it more than once. I think this is one they definitely “undersold” but I’m so looking forward to catching it live next week.

  18. This show is off the hook, off the chain and out of this world! It is simply the best thing they have ever done in that space. As far as shows this year (being a theatre guy who started a community theatre) I'd still have to give it to Phantom over this. But it is close . FFF is my favorite with Phantom second, Rails third. Although to be sure all of the offerings this year have exceeded my expectations! Kudos to everyone who had something to do with pulling of a very good 1st performance. I look forward to seeing it many more times this year.

  23. I agree, being at the foot of the fountain you get the “full” show…I also agree that it is best to be standing to see the fountains…but 95% of the crowd just wants to chill and watch the show sitting down, which I totally understand…it’s a nice way to end the day. So, for the people who do want to stand…I recommend standing back by the International Restaurant, that way you are not blocking anyone’s view and you also get to see everything.

  25. When you enter initially and walk down the first steps after entering the queue it is to the left near the lift hill, I think that is where I saw it.

  26. You don’t need to be condescending when people express opinions and ideas. I’m fully aware that most parade performers have either just wrapped their shows, or are about to start a run of shows. That’s how Carnivale worked, and it flowed into the evening bandstand entertainment. Also, if you read my post-you’ll see I’m also fully aware of what concept art is. There’s no reason to BOLD the word to clear it up for me. I think if you carefully read most comments, they are super appreciative, and people are very happy with what we’ve gotten. I’ve spoken directly with Mike Koontz and told him as such, but people can still “comment”. I don’t think many here are complaining to the park (I know I’m not) but just throwing out blue sky ideas.

  27. As you see- I LIKED busker jam. I thought it was a perfect, thematically appropriate show (in a bad location-traffic wise) and as I mentioned, I’d like to see more of those “mini pop-up shows” around the park on peak days. I wish shows like buskers and brew bears didn’t even have a “stage” just an area with propping that suddenly came alive with performers. I love that during a COVID “pull out” year they added live shows with those. My point was I don’t think we should ONLY have that level of shows.(poor Carrowinds only has a couple of singer/band duos and only one “stage show” that’s a lift from Knotts) I wish this year had both the big, AND the little we had last year. That would be a perfect storm. Even if they brought in small, local acts for the evenings in BierGarden and BrewHouse, I think it would be great. Sorry I insulted the buskers (not sorry I insulted the dogs)

  28. Busker jam was original and entertaining. There's a reason Stomp still runs on broadway. My point is back to the Paramount days of very little in the way of entertainment/shows. It seems like Cedar Fair as a hole has been upping entertainment at all it's properties. The Red Garter Halloween Rock show has consistently been one of my favorite shows for the past 10+ years. I don't see the quality going anywhere anytime soon. They have hit their stride and will continue for years to come.

  29. Hey...I really liked Busker Jam! More on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing this show as well as the street party next time I'm at the park. EDIT: Also, the "all the things happening all at once" part referenced above reminds me of Cedar Point's Vertical Impact. I liked it, but talk about sensory overload...

  30. That’s my worry-I know a lot of this was budgeted for the 50th, but man, it’s gonna be hard to go back to dog shows and 4 guys banging on car parts next year (nothing against the guys with the car parts-we should have those mini shows as well-great to tie into theme) I hope they are getting serious praise and call outs (I know I have) at guest services about the entertainment this year.

  32. Just cought the last half of the preview show. It was absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to see the full show tomorrow. Nice mix of story and tricks. Must have had 25 or so people involved. KI has definetly upped the show game this year!!!!!! Thought I would add a bit more now that I'm home on my keyboard Like I said I got there about halfway through the show and they had the dancers, drummers, BMX, Roller Baldes, Scooters, Trampolines and a slackliner all at the same time, Too much to take in completely in one sitting but very impressive. I would guess it would be one to re-watch over and over considering it looks like the slackliner was pretty much vamping as well as the other artists. The show also had 2 hosts/singers (one boy, one girl) and a child was the star of the show who was very talented and I can't wait to see him get more comfortable in his role. Very upbeat music, nice story, plenty of action. Can't wait to see the full show tomorrow. If I had to guess the showtimes I would say 1, 2, 3, 4:30 and 5:30. If they do 5 shows a day. Again, that is a guess, we will find out tomorrow! Great Job to the cast and crew shows are back and better than ever at KI this year. Here's to hoping they keep the bar high now that they've raised it!

  33. If we are to get a Ferris Wheel, let it be a small one like you mentioned. We do not need a giant wheel. As far as I am concerned all they are good for is the cool lighting package.

  34. Whaat? Dude, whoever is in charge of this, open it up to single rider folks. Wink, wink... come on - some real fireworks could happen amongst these people! Especially amongst folks who would rather mingle & mix at a civil place like KI instead of at a sleazy bar All kidding aside...us singletons are a real source of cash... seriously... Don't miss out on the money we have to spend. Those of us who are SINKS (single income, no kids) might surprise you with how much cash we have to drop - lol - And whoever is making these decisions needs to understand that a large portion of millennials are either delaying the choice to have kids, or they are not having kids at all... .and what does that have to do with this? It means that you need to keep this demographic of people in mind as you plan activities... adults without children are becoming a larger demographic that actually has the ability to pay for higher-priced things... if you include them... and don't put restrictions in place, like requiring them to bring a guest TXdrummer, have a great time whatever you're doing

  35. Glad that you enjoyed Dollywood. One of my favorite park in the US. Dollywood is one of the prettiest park that I have visited as well as having great food options. We visit Carowinds and Dollywood equally. I love Lightning Rod as wooden coaster but this coaster, unfortunately, has been modified to I Beam steel coaster. Still, Lightning Rod is by far the best RMC creation in my view. Thunderhead was retracked in places this year so much smoother. My suggestion for Dollywood is to visit after Thanksgiving. They have quite probably the best Christmas set up.

  37. So I would love to see a new flat ride in 2023. Especially in Octoberfest. There's so many great flat rides out there but here's my top picks - 3 retro and 3 new flats. Retro 1. Der Spinnen Keggers or Intamin Drunken Barrels (these looked like fun and would fit the beergarten theme nicely) 2. Bayne Kurve (I always thought these rides looked really cool and unfortunately they aren't very common anymore. I think CA Great America And Knoebels are the only parks that have one in the U.S.) 3. Ferris Wheel (I prefer the smaller Eli Wheel models as compared to the giant wheel like CP has. The big wheels are so slow and take forever to load that they are more of an observation tower than anything else) New 1. Gerstlauer Sky Roller (idk how this fits the theme? Maybe some WWII European flag markings on the planes? However this looks amazing and hey....pay homage to flight commander) 2. Zamperla Endeavor (pay homage to Skylab with this near version. I loved the enterprise ride design and these are still really fun.) 3. Huss Condor (nothing like this ride! One at Six Flags Great America is awesome on a hot day. I think Kansas City worlds of fun actually got one of these in 2017, maybe?)

  42. I would say most of that is Kings Island judging by all the 50th gear I’ve seen everyone wearing at the park. Heck, I’ve spent $200 on stuff this year so far. That’s more than I’ve spent in the last 15 years total. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
