  1. I would like them to add "trying to scare other guests" to that list. I saw it a couple times last year and was like "No one is impressed that you can startle someone when you're obviously just another guest" Also, I really wish they would stress to guests that places in line can't be saved for your group. Most of the line jumping I see is when multiple people walk through the line to meet up with someone that they sent ahead. Sometimes rather large groups of people.

With that said, respect is part of the TOS. If anyone feels a person's post is not being respectful please report it. Something for everyone to keep in mind. 3. One shouldn't go to a scary event if they don't want to be scared LOL...plus it ruins it for those around them that want to be scared.

  4. I don’t want to start anything, but this is an extremely rude response. With this response, it seems like YOU are trying to start something. If anything, @KIghostguy’s critique are just an example of how much he cares about Kings Island. He, like many of us, know that the park has the potential to be better than it is currently, and he was just giving constructive criticism. Kings Island has some theming among other things that they have let go in recent years. He was just calling the park out because he knows the park can do better and wants to see the park do better. I agree with him 100%. Also, people have different reasons to visit the park. Many go to ride rides, but a lot of people just go to walk around, take everything in, and watch a show. A lot of people only go to eat a meal. We don’t need to poke fun at people at reasons for visiting the park. Heck, @KIghostguy never said that he only went to Kings Island to look at theming. You just assumed that. Even if he did, so what?

  7. Had this man not had the vision and grit to do what he did, there would be no KI, KD, Canada's Wonderland and Carowinds would likely be industrial warehouses. Please show some respect for the man who brought all of this to life.

  8. He is still a big part of the history. I still wish the “kid” in off the rails had been named Gary. Would’ve been a subtle nod to a “dreamer who put his all into doing amazing things” without being too obvious.

  11. Fully agreed. Leave it to those of us who are trained to do it as our jobs. Not only is it annoying to other guests, but you're putting yourself in danger by attempting to scare people. Some people react violently when you scare them, and if you're not trained on how to deal with that, it can end badly for you, and I've seen it happen many times. I'd even change it to "Don't try to scare anyone". Trying to scare the actors just makes you look foolish when it inevitably doesn't work, or you get security called on you. What really gets me is when people buy them and then either don't have them on, or hide them under their shirt, and then get all up in my face when I scare them because they/their kids didn't have the necklace visible.

  14. Could we see Skyline/GCI look into similar, long lasting, track styles like Gravity Groups engineered pre-cut track, besides the Titan Track? Or is it something you’d incorporate by default into your normal wooden track?

  15. Alien X sounds pretty cool. I always like it when they tie a Scare Zone or Maze into the land that it’s in. Nice that we’re getting a replacement for Urgent Scare, too!

  16. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/haunt It appears the lineup has been posted. Hotel St. Michelle is listed along with the new Area 72 zone, Alien X. We're also getting two new shows Nytewalkers (presumably like the All Wheel Sports show at California's Great America) and Terror Rising.

  20. As a former Supervisor from another department: Generally we would take volunteers first. Then send home minors (less strict break times). Then send home your lower rated workers. If your son is a minor, that's probably what's going against him, unfortunately.

  22. It's quite jarring. I usually work evening shift and don't get in until around 2:30 and work until late at night. When the park is closed, I work a normal 9 - 5 type shift. It's hard to get used to. It's a weird feeling being so used to all of the rides and guest noise and getting used to the silence again. I've seen a few people show up, but I don't think it happens too often.

  23. @Allison, thanks for the idea. We don't have a specific forum for associates. Here is a new thread for your question and discussion. For past and present associates, is there a desire for a specific forum? Post your thoughts.

  24. There is nothing in this that isn't already in place or was in place for the past several years... I have heard a few ride ops call out guests for profanity and said they would call security if they didn't stop. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/code-of-conduct

  25. Although it is disappointing that the season is winding down, it is a reminder for us to look forward for the next season to come. Imagine if the park was open every day, all year round? We would have nothing to look forward to, and nothing to hope for.

  37. This is the state fair where anyone can get in for just $10. That doesn't include rides though (that's another $35 according to the fair's website). I can't say I'm surprised.

  38. We lost like three weeks of 10:00 closings last year because of “unruly teens.” They said it was a staffing thing but… come on. The schedule was changed the next day. All of us here pay good money for the products we receive (as in, Kings Island). The fact that it has already had to be truncated once because of some bad apples is more justification enough for me. I know there are a lot of good kids out there, but if the parks can narrow in on the trouble causers as much as possible instead of having to “punish” all of the guests then good for them.

  41. I think that’s great. The last two times the organ was restored, it was so quiet you could barely hear it. You had to be standing right up against it. I think it’s a beautiful sound and it deserves to be heard throughout the park.

  42. Revisiting this topic which has been dead for awhile... https://www.interlink-lg.com/used-rides/bobsleigh/ There's a used Mack Bobsled for Sale...Based on my research I think it formerly operated at a now defunct park in Japan. It actually looks pretty fun.

  43. It is simply your opinion is it is unjust.... case law and precedence says otherwise... can the laws change at some point - yes absolutely. But until then, it is a generally accepted legal policy a company can implement. They are a private business and can implement whatever policy they want as long as it is legal. As an example, smoking is allowed outdoors. The parks are outside (except obviously for their indoor parts) and legally they can say no smoking or vaping within the park and that is their legal right and within their right to kick a person out for violating their legal policy. You as a consumer can decide if you disagree with a particular policy and then decide whether or not to patronize the business. If the company sees a decline as a result of said policy, then they will change said policy. Companies are in business to make money. Any legal policy they implement takes into consideration the pros and cons of said policy. If they believe that the overall benefit outweighs the negative, then they will do so. With the current industry trends leaning towards family-friendly parks, that is where the money is, not unruly teens that are causing trouble and aren't spending money in the park. If those same guests turn the magical age of 18 and decide as you say "Screw you, Charlie Brown", well that is probably still an overall benefit for the park because like you said, the age of 18 is just a number, so they would probably continue their poor behavior once turning legal. They want the well-behaved and properly parented children visiting the park and those positive experiences will encourage these said children to visit the park when they are over 18. The unruly teens causing trouble and making a family decide that for their families safety, they will skip the park is not what the park wants. And let's face it, since the parks are now cashless, it is easy for a park to determine if the guests they kicked out spent any money in the park....

  44. @MisterSG1Understand that your (clearly) strong views on the rights of minors are not what everyone believes. You may disagree, but to most people it is just and fair that adulthood has privileges and rights that come with it. Adults are expected to be responsible by way of their life experience and more fully developed brains. Parents/Guardians are expected to take care of minors and to teach them responsibility. Parents/guardians are responsible for much of their teenagers actions until they turn 18. Of course adulthood doesn't look the same for all and there are plenty of adults who still act irresponsibly, but there needs to be an age cutoff somewhere. Right now, legislatures have decided that's 18. This is how society has always functioned. If you don't like it and want to change it, you are in for a much bigger fight than an amusement park chaperone policy. The reason for the policy is this: There are teenagers who have been causing trouble/a bad image for the park. Cedar Fair can legally restrict teenagers from entering without a chaperone. Cedar Fair believes that to most the positives of such a policy outweigh the negatives. Therefore revenues will not decline as they fear it would if such a policy were not put in place.
