  1. I would be happy if they planted trees throughout the park. Especially the barren Action Zone, Planet Snoopy, Area 72 and center of the park. Well the entire park except Oktoberfest lol

  2. I would really like to see Afterburn receive a repaint. With all the new re theming it will make Afterburn stand out. I hope they give it some love this off season.

  4. If you have yet to do Land of Illusion, do Land of Illusion. Definitely hit up the haunted trail, however I would say coming back is always hit or miss for return visits. Dent School House really kicks it into gear. Amazing theming, an amazing team, it's well worth your ticket and some. (Friendly reminder they are open on Thursday nights too) Brimstone has been hit or miss from what I have heard however I am planning on coming this season as it has been on my hit list for a few years now. I will also add if you want something that is unique, check out Sandyland Acres. Their hayride, while not really scare heavy, is really just fun and somewhat comical. The haunted barn actually wasn't that bad and was pretty nice a few years ago.

  5. I’m with you. Either do it right or don’t do it. If they want to take a shot at a bigger, better Phantom Theater then fine, but if it’s just going to be Boo Blasters but with No Legs Larry then I’d rather just have the memories.

  6. Come set it up and see what really has to happen then. You seem to enjoy talking about it and saying it’s doable, so why not join the team?

  7. Hope to also see some new pavers in and around the Eiffel Tower area, replacing the blacktop.

  10. My son and I visited SFoG on 8/28/2022. This is our "home" SF park and visit here about once a month. Unfortunately, Acrophobia is closed for the day. Twisted Cyclone always opens early before the park officially opens. This RMC is one of the better ones. These smaller RMC retrofit coasters are much more re-ridable than larger ones. Dare Devil dive coaster capacity is very low so that wait time is normally quite long. I always try to ride this early. Mindbender is my favorite Schwarzkopf coaster over Scorpion at BGT, Revolution at SFMM or Sooperdooperlooper at Hershey. This is much smoother since refurbishment in 2021. I love Goliath. This almost hyper B&M coaster has been growing on me. I love the double helix and triple airtime hills at the end. This coaster is getting somewhat rattly. Batman the Ride and Superman Ultimate Flight are clones of the rides at other SF parks. I do find this Batman to be more intense than others for some reason. Great American Scream Machine was retracted this year and much smoother. I wish they kepted 3 row PTC trains for this coaster. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable wooden coaster. This park needs some TLC and in need for a new coaster. Many rides need new paint job. One positive is that it was cleaner than my other visits to this park. This park certainly has potential. There are some unique coasters along with good flat rides. They do need to expand the kiddie section.

  11. In your own personal opinions, which decade offered the best ride lineup and overall experience at the park? We've seen many changes of management over the past 50 years, and have also gained and lost many precious attractions. This is completely subjective.

  12. Or how about prime rib like at KD's Outpost Cafe. Their prime rib look delicious and it is medium rare which is how I like it lol. Especially that mens restroom on I-street. One stall is unacceptable imo especially in the area with the most traffic.

  13. I have several friends who have worked at KI's Haunt, everyone comments how it's a whole team effort. To actually set up and put down takes a lot of time and effort to get it rolling; the park isn't on the WDW budget, it's a regional park budget. I can be very critical on the park at times only because I love it and I seriously just want the best for the park to grow. I had the opportunity to work it several times when I was employed at KI, never took it and I still regret it. (Can't do it now because I finally landed a career but would have loved to in the past)

  14. Exactly! That is what I was alluding to in my statement. Most have no idea how many hours are put in. Full-time work is considered 2,080 hours and part-time techs in the industry approach or exceed that. I have friends that have left the industry to take a full-time job and work less hours than they did part-time at KI.... Now one could argue that means the park needs to hire more (and valid but some of this is short term type work that is hard to hire for), but it also shows how much effort goes into getting the park ready for these events!

  15. I think people would be surprised how many hours a tech works in a year...

  16. Another vote for Dent Schoolhouse. It's probably one of the best produced houses you'll find outside of Halloween Horror Nights. The sets are ambitious and very complete (as in no blank walls) so you really feel like you're in each environment. But like others have said it is less of an evening since the experience (minus the wait) is about a half hour. Land of Illusion is a good bet for an evening of Halloween fun, even if it isn't quite to the quality level of Dent. The Haunted Trail is indeed impressive in scope.

  17. Wilmington Haunted Hollow Ride is really unique. You get on a bus which goes thru some haunted areas then 2 fire breating semi trucks chase you.

  18. My personal favorite haunts in Ohio are Factory of Terror (but it’s all of the way up in Canton), Dent, Land of Illusion, and Lewisburg Haunted Cave (all 3 of which are fairly close to KI, with the cave being the farthest of the 3.).

  19. Gladly! There’s open interviews for entertainment tech at the park on Sept. 11 from 12pm - 4pm.

  20. Depending on how far you are willing to go Lewisburg Haunted Cave, Dent and USS Nightmare are all good choices. Terror town is fun and sorta has roleplay events while you wait. Haunted Hoochie is awesome but north of Columbus. For a more old school style the charity haunt The Mt. healthy Haunted Hall is about all that's left. I am personally involved so I think it's great of course but we are often told we are better than Kings Island! Land of Illusion gets pricey for all the haunts and only the haunted trail is truly special. I tend to prefer the more focused haunts. To that end any of the side haunts at Dent or the Haunted Cave are completely forgettable. The Renaissance Fair has a haunted hayride as well but the nature of it makes it less scary with safety distance from the moving cart.

  21. Dent is very good. I kind of lean toward Land of Illusion, though, because it’s several haunted houses and you can make a night of it - while with Dent it’s a great haunted house but after the half hour or so, you have nothing to do for the night.

  22. And it isn't closed 7 days per week between now and Haunt lol. Private parties and one public day tossed in.

  24. Actually somewhat surprised that we don’t have a lot of theming up yet. A few stages but no major sets from what I’ve seen.

  25. I have been watching it most of the day. They were first late to test the ride, got two trains on the track, then it was stopped for hours until they sent a train around and plopped it into storage. (Around 1:15pm) The last train sat in the station until around 6:30pm when it was sent off but at an incredibly slow speed. Took 20-30m to climb the lift. I kid you not this was incredibly slow. Thought it wasn’t moving at all until I looked closed and saw it slowly moving up a pixel or two every so often. It hit the MCBR and was stopped there until 7:30pm-ish when it was sent off and then put back in storage. Possible lift motor issues? It did get its chain replaced in the offseason. Curious to know if it’ll be open tomorrow.

  29. Because a good number of folks on this site are hellbent on shoving a coaster into every single semi-available piece of land within the park. The mental gymnastics preformed to justify a new coaster installation is mind boggling to me. I’m also confused to why everyone wants to see Congo Falls removed. Same goes for Timberwolf. There’s plenty of available space for new additions without removing either of these. It’s also important to understand that not every new addition needs to be a coaster.

  30. Yes a waterpark. A goid investment. But Cedar Point needs a great themed long log flume. N 1 dark ride.

  31. I don't see why there would be any need to remove Congo Falls? People like to ride it and gets people wet like it's supposed to do. It's also been there since I was a kid; I'm 37 years old now. You guys are right though, it would have been moved already If they had plans to move it in the park. I wish that it was over in The Vortex plot of land now, but I'm guessing the park has a 5 year plan for that area.

  32. I was a bit limited on space and I really only wanted to put the big attractions in here. And as far as the Biden sticker goes, it was meant to be taken as a lighthearted joke for filler considering we haven't had much time to get anything beyond Orion this decade. I am not a politically minded person and I do not vote. Those stickers are just plastered on literally everything if you live in the Midwest like I do. My apologies that it was taken the wrong way.

  33. It appears that The Drums of the Dead set is being repurposed for Terror Rising. The Off the Rails set is also transitioning to NyteWalkers, including what might be the addition of a long trampoline run like the original NyteWalkers at CGA along the front of the stage area. Since this show likely won't feature live singing like Off the Rails this should provide even more space for the stunt performers.

  34. The Rick thing is news to me. If Mike were to retire (which I’m not rooting for, I like that guy) then the park would need: VP, GM Director of Operations Executive Chef Thats a lot of heavy hitters. It makes me weary because I feel like the park is pretty well-run now.

  35. thank you. i do miss the job, the staff, and the good clientele.

  36. Fully agreed. Leave it to those of us who are trained to do it as our jobs. Not only is it annoying to other guests, but you're putting yourself in danger by attempting to scare people. Some people react violently when you scare them, and if you're not trained on how to deal with that, it can end badly for you, and I've seen it happen many times. I'd even change it to "Don't try to scare anyone". Trying to scare the actors just makes you look foolish when it inevitably doesn't work, or you get security called on you. What really gets me is when people buy them and then either don't have them on, or hide them under their shirt, and then get all up in my face when I scare them because they/their kids didn't have the necklace visible.

  37. Its quite possible to be honest but I think you have to raise the pass prices quite a bit to make any noticeable difference. Disney's approach is probably more pricing out people who aren't willing to spend extra money inside the park, imo.

  38. Agreed along with many others. I can understand how the preferred parking would be very appealing to some folks, but personally I don't mind the extra walk. Besides, we could all use a little extra exercise!

  39. This new higher cost pass looks like it will be just more added confusion. Want to visit the park all year? Buy a gold pass! What's that... you wanna use it at every Cedar Fair park? Ok then get a platinum!!! But could I interest you in the prestige pass? It can get you even more perks, it also comes in a higher tier as well!

  40. I've really enjoyed the bobsled coasters I've been on. It'd be cool to see one come our way. I'm not sure where specifically in the park I'd put it... Depending on the theme, I suppose I could see it in Area 72. Or maybe even Rivertown as a spiritual successor of sorts to Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal, if you turn your head and squint. I have no idea if there's any validity to this, but in my head, Avalanche at Kings Dominion and Adventure Express were originally destined for each other's parks. Adventure Express makes more sense for Avalanche's spot thematically, and vice versa.
