  1. Agree. If all Timberwolf was going to be used for was a three-day Christian concert that was on its way out, I was find to get rid of it. But this year seems to show there's still life left there, and if they can use it as a regular venue throughout the season, I think that's great. I could take or leave Congo Falls. Kids like to ride it and get wet. In my opinion, I have more fun with White Water Canyon and Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown, and I'd rather see CF go before those. It's just, to me, a bit of an eyesore. But if it still serves a purpose, awesome. Same with Invertigo. I honestly forget it's there most the time. And I'd rather see the park focus on bringing non-coaster improvements instead of trying to cram in the latest thrill rides. Atmosphere matters so much more.

  2. Awesome video. This is like the final “definitive” version. The source audio was great in that you hear hi much detail really went into the theme music. Sone of that was lost in person. Awesome job everyone. I saw the show 5-6 times and sitting here on phone STILL get a bit choked up. They NAILED the emoji piece!

  4. This is the way the world is going. It's Security Theatre. Sporting events have been transitioning to this over time and now it's only a matter of time before this becomes the full time policy at KI, IMO. The no leaving policy has to do with the amount of drugs and alcohol people do in the parking lot prior to the event. I've never seen so many cheap plastic Vodka bottles in my life, as I had emptying the garbage in the parking lot during Haunt. There's a reason many of us called it the White Trash Bash.

  5. I didn't end up seeing this in person this year. They did such a good job with this.

  6. I think most of the thought process behind removing timberwolf was that it was a big, largely unused plot of land. At least that was my thinking, until it was used this season. While I didn't attend any of the concerts there, if they could semi-regularly fill timberwolf with acts that people would want to come see, then I'm all for keeping it and upgrading it. Congo falls, I love and my kids love. I'd be sad to see it go, but realize it is much closer to the end of its service life than the start. While I don't love Invertigo, I'd imagine the same could be said for that coaster as well. I'm not sure what the level of ridership is for those things, Congo falls never seems to have lines. When people start speculating where the next major investments in the park can/will be, there are 2 very logical spots, the first is the old Vortex plot of land, the 2nd is/was the Timberwolf/Congo Falls/Invertigo plot of land. And a park should never remove anything until it has a plan for its replacement. Unless the structure is a physical hazard to the safety of patrons and/or employees, you never know when all or parts of it can be reimagined to something new.

  7. If we want to get a little crazy and not disturb The Beast woods, I made a little concept where it interacts with the pathway basically making it a centerpiece in the middle of the park. I came up with this idea based on the Intamin blitz being built at Parque Warner Madrid where it goes over top pathways. It would also require the removal/relocation of the 3 point challenge as well as some of the area behind Jukebox diner, but if Parque Warner can squeeze in a blitz where they're putting it, I think they could do that here if the park really wanted to. The line for Backlot would have to be changed a little bit, but I made it so it could work. Introducing Tyrant! Rule the Island of Fort Coney!

  8. Whats wrong with two Drop Towers in a park? KI has two - Drop Tower and Kite Eating Tree LOL. This one would be a free fall instead of cable-driven and a lot taller. They have more than one coaster LOL and they had two sets of antique cars for example. I think it is an intriguing concept that was proposed and not one that many have considered - it seems everyone is gravitated towards it being LSM and still being a coaster, but this is a concept that could happen and would certainly be less expensive than new trains, adding some track and LSMs.

  12. another LONNNG post, but all my ideas distilled here - some new intros, some vintage returns, MAINLY aesthetic improvements that add to the overall experience of the area and opportunities for in-park spending on enhanced food and beverage: New entry archways off of International Street by the KI Theatre, Festhaus, Bier Garden Redress backside of Festhaus to continue front architectural detailing - Add waterfall feature into the landscaping and enlarge the outdoor seating on the backside of Festhaus New fountain at entrance to Festhaus - “Village Style” Festhaus becomes “International Food Hall” with better dining options and clearer separate stands for different types of food - Hanks concept moves in here along with Italian, Chinese, Rotating other international options. “American” (chicken, burger) Banners inside return for more color and “festival” atmosphere Rework queue of Viking fury to open up path behind IS block again - Vine tunnel here to hide back of buildings - entrance to Viking Fury come off of this new path with signage for it at both ends of the vine tunnel. Exit to Viking Fury is by funnel cake building. Seating area by viking fury is better laid out with paving change to delineate seating/bar area. Bar opened as a seasonal beverage location - possible “Beers of the World” to tie into “international Food Hall” retime of FestHaus Der Spinning Keggers returns to original layout and design with banners - Airbrush shop removed - possible relocate product to area in former ActionZone? Move “coaster Connection” ride specific product to Banshee Shop - Airbrush goes into Coaster Connection as part of an overall apparel shop “FestBest” Adventure Express - no major changes. Lighting in first tunnel and refurbish snakes - add projection mapping or fire effect lights in “lava” tunnel, refresh temple tunnel. In queue - add framed photos of German explorers to justify a jungle trick in Oktoberfest. Tell the story of Humbolts Latin American expedition - add additional travel props etc to the station. Overall refresh on a budget. Hanks food concept has moved into FestHaus or Food Factory - this area is returns to full BierGarden with German cuisine and beer options Bridge is re-established to connect more directly to FestHaus area. Larger Flat ride is added to area where SlingShot was - themed to spirits, ghosts, cemetery etc to tie into Banshee right behind it. Possible Zamperla Gryphon - Can be programed for different ride sequences for re-ridability. Beer Stein Topiary moves to former ActionZone round seating area - becomes "SteinPlatz" All flats/coasters of ActionZone are incorporated into Oktoberfest. Possible name tweaking to bring German influence (DropTower -> Falltrum, Chicken Shack -> Hähnchen Haus, CongoFalls -> Rheinfalls, IceCream -> das Eis, Invertigo -> Achterbahn Pole mounted banners and pennants are reintroduced throughout the entire area to bring additional life and color. Possibly even incorporate lighting for evening excitement (see EPCOT lighting banner pole) Small stages added in BierGarden and SteinPlatzor mini performances to add to the festival atmosphere Possibly add 2-3 additional flats with lower (36-48 max) heights to give younger rider options throughout the park. Possible by KI theatre or in former Action Zone Redo all paving to introduce different materials and colors to better define seating areas, traffic flow and provide visual breakup. Bring more mid-level landscaping to former ActionZone, but most of she comes from overhead banners and sunshades to Bring more color to the area. Midways are lined with “streamer ceilings”.

  13. good youtube video from theme park predictions on the fact Cedar Fair has zero water coasters well except for the water park they purchased (Schlitterbahn) which already had two water coaster

  14. I actually like the idea behind this. I had been playing around with an idea similar where backlot is removed and a major new coaster takes the back half of that plot. The way you have it on both sides of the pathway frees up more land to do something bigger. I’d love to see it pretty symmetrical to frame the tower, move the floral clock to actually align with the path coming to it and possibly reshape the circle path to be better balanced. Add 2 flat to left and right of the clock and possibly on the other side as well where saltwater was. The flats would be part of “Carousel park” an extension of IS. The coaster would technically be Coney, but would read well in both areas. Make a clean-elegant design-maybe even like CA SCREAMIN’ that is steel “disguised” to look wooden. Maybe even with a large 360 vertical loop that centers behind the tower.

  15. A second GCI would be interesting; and with WoF it could be possible for a second GCI to appear right down the path from Mystic :haha: Let GCI push their new Infinity Flyers to their limits and see what happens. oops double posted; sorry

  16. I would love for it to interact with other parts of the park. A lot of Kings Islands coasters are setup in a way that most of the ride is in the back area or around the edge of the park. Kings Island still, in my opinion, lacks a great thrillseeker ride. Not expecting an RMC or some intense Intamin; just something that really easily stands out on top of the lineup. Really hope KI goes above and beyond with this area of land; there's so much potential with that plot and really should pay homage to the strides Vortex made when it first opened.

  17. If Congo moves it should go to Rivertown. It's nice to have all the water rides in one spot. That's what they do at Cedar Point.

  18. Long live Congo. Add a Oktoberfest theme. Maybe sponsered by Wolfsteiner Falls or locally like sam Adams oktober fest falls. I love this ride n if you want soaked stand on the bridge. Could they add some props jazz it up etc.

  19. How much physical space would this take up? Could something similar be done with the Big Brown building? If not in full, then in parts where the coaster zooms in/out of the building or added buildings around it? Seems like the existing building would be way to small, but have it zip in and out while using the surrounding trees in the back and you could have one heck of a solid family style ride and make use of the awesome que area.

  20. so let me get this straight, they had a beloved dark ride that they got arid of to only 5 years later bring it back as a coaster??? just from the video, its giving me the italian job stunt track/Backlot Stunt Coaster vibes.

  22. Let us agree to disagree. It's certainly no Flight of Fear, but the cemetery certainly adds to the appeal the ride has.

  23. My best advice: Just do it! They’ll likely have you do a scream (Go for long and loud), and improvise any sort of character. When I did mine 7 years ago I did a zombie, and they put me in KillMart.

  25. I'm contemplating becoming a scare actor this year. Can someone who's worked haunt give me a bit of an idea how it is? Like do you get any say in what maze you will be in? What should I expect with going into the audition? Ive scareacted at multiple haunts since 2014 (minus 2020 for obvious reasons) and have always wanted to take a shot at KI but super anxious to take the leap.

  26. I feel like the coaster is getting a new name, a new theme, new trains, a new launch, a new control system, and the crazy part maybe even an expanded layout after the top hat. Makes me wonder who is doing the work. Cedar Fair seems reluctant to work with Intamin which makes me think we will be seeing someone else. The two big LSM providers are InTraSys and Indrivetec. Intamin uses Indrivetec, the fins are physically larger and I believe more powerful, they are what was used on rides like Velocicoaster or more importantly here, Red Force. Intrasys is used by most of the rest of the industry, B&M used them on Thunderbird, Premier on Ice Breaker, and Mack on Copperhead Strike, typically you will see two rows of stators, so if you see two rows it was likely Intrasys. Other possibilities exist, like an Air Launch system from S&S but frankly I doubt it. I suspect we will not see an announcement on what exactly is being done until late next year. Because I believe we are looking at a 2024 project. Daily operations have ended making it easier to do work, and we might see construction walls soon.

  27. Yeah, that wording is very telling that TTD will still be there in some iteration, and my guess is the change will likely not alter too much of the ride experience. Years back, CP announced Mantis was closing and then a few months later announced the changes coming and its new name Rougarou (god, I hate that name). They did something similar with Mean Streak; announced the ride closing and even had a funeral for it. A year later, they announced the Steel Vengeance remake. I think if there were major alterations that would make it a completely different ride, you'd see them announce that TTD was going away and then an announcement about the "new" ride shortly after. This seems to say that "TTD will be back," but it will be different, and I wouldn't hold my breath about it coming back in time for the 2023 season.

  28. Correct. Quite telling. I think this story is far from over. Some YouTubers and whatnot are reporting that they said it was being replaced. I don’t see it that way.

  29. You know what, if I could give you a gold star award I would gladly give you one. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of money currently but please accept this quickly acquired jpg of a gold star as a token of my appreciation and honest respect to a fellow foodie. I 100% agree, there are plenty of options that we could get. I would LOVE to see it come one day but until then we just have to wait and salivate.

  30. This is more or less a "reasonable wish list with some extra spice" Finally finishing off the repaving of the parking lot, we got midway, now we just need to finish it off. Would absolutely love to see some new food options come in 23. I know Chef Major has done alot of work on our food options at the park, (He's honestly my favorite "big name" in the park, I'm sorry Don we still love you) but I would love to see some touch ups at some of the locations to see if there are new options that could come to the park. I E steak option like at Farmhouse in CP at Coney BBQ, maybe some form of rotating wings menu at the Chicken Shack, etc. I would love to see some new paint on a few attractions, most notably Diamondback. Rounding everything off I wanted to highlight one key thing I think Kings Island really needs: Restroom TLC. If not even every restroom in the park, at least some modifications and upgrades to make them more modern. With that being said, I don't need all of this, or really any of this to be happy. I'm honestly impressed with all of the work KI has done over the past year and wouldn't blame them for taking a year off of park modifications at this point.

  31. I have several friends who have worked at KI's Haunt, everyone comments how it's a whole team effort. To actually set up and put down takes a lot of time and effort to get it rolling; the park isn't on the WDW budget, it's a regional park budget. I can be very critical on the park at times only because I love it and I seriously just want the best for the park to grow. I had the opportunity to work it several times when I was employed at KI, never took it and I still regret it. (Can't do it now because I finally landed a career but would have loved to in the past)

  32. Even with a 13 week break after last season, I’ve worked over 1600 hours since last October. And that’s on the lower end. I have friends in the industry that have worked 2800+ hours. It’s a fun job though! Wouldn’t do it if I didn’t like it!

  33. I think people would be surprised how many hours a tech works in a year...

  34. I argue you just need figures. There are a few of dark rides where the characters are static, maybe moving one or two body parts and a lot of it’s just lighting and projections. A lot of Disney’s smaller dark rides are actually quite simple when you think about it.
    1 point
  35. Exactly. Between large private events like pride night and P&G day, public operating days on the weekend, a small team, and a gargantuan amount of work to be done including tons of work for those private events, there’s much less time than you think. Seeing people come on here talking about how easily it could be done and how we don’t need time is quite annoying, really. There’s so many things that happen behind the scenes that the general public has no idea about. None of this is as easy as it seems.
    1 point
  36. I’m with you. Either do it right or don’t do it. If they want to take a shot at a bigger, better Phantom Theater then fine, but if it’s just going to be Boo Blasters but with No Legs Larry then I’d rather just have the memories.
    1 point
  37. Come set it up and see what really has to happen then. You seem to enjoy talking about it and saying it’s doable, so why not join the team?

  38. Because a good number of folks on this site are hellbent on shoving a coaster into every single semi-available piece of land within the park. The mental gymnastics preformed to justify a new coaster installation is mind boggling to me. I’m also confused to why everyone wants to see Congo Falls removed. Same goes for Timberwolf. There’s plenty of available space for new additions without removing either of these. It’s also important to understand that not every new addition needs to be a coaster.
    1 point
  39. I don't see why there would be any need to remove Congo Falls? People like to ride it and gets people wet like it's supposed to do. It's also been there since I was a kid; I'm 37 years old now. You guys are right though, it would have been moved already If they had plans to move it in the park. I wish that it was over in The Vortex plot of land now, but I'm guessing the park has a 5 year plan for that area.
    1 point
  40. One of the more complicated aspects of Congo Falls is the water. If they moved it they'd have to lay new supply lines. It'd be a bit of an undertaking for such a modest attraction.
    1 point
  41. I like the idea of German explorers tying into Adventure Express. It’s a shame the Skywarp model never really took off, you could’ve put one in the former Slingshot location and name it the Bavarian Pretzel.
    1 point
  42. I agree, if they were going to move it that would have been done a long time ago. Why take on the extra expense unless you need the space? Why look at an empty spot unless there are plans for it?
    1 point
  43. Despite how tricky it would be to escape from the bar, I'm still surprised Cedar Fair didn't add belts considering they're even using them with B&M clamshell lap bars now, which are basically idiot-proof by themselves.
    1 point
  44. no seat belt on Congo falls. I always ride next to my youngest kid so I can make sure they stay seated down thru the experience Yes I realize everything is perfectly safe, but it makes me feel better darn it
    1 point
  45. Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I was just wondering. It's been a few years since I last went to the park and my wife is a bit big (like around 350) especially her waist. Most rides are off the table but I forget if Congo has a seat belt or restraint of any kind. If she can slide in the row it might be one she can do. Can anyone confirm if it has any type of restraint?
    1 point
  46. True, but that's also a lot of real estate for such a ride. KI's was kind of an odd one out among antique car rides for using so much land. KMAA could have potentially crossed under Racer to add more track, but would have involved crossing the service area and then likely interfering with Orion. I'd like to see a wall of dense trees or other greenery to supplement the fence and "covered bridge" in the back, but in time the trees planted within the course will mature. It's still very new.
    1 point
  47. one word, SIZE. The immersion of Les Taxi and OOL took you away from everything. As the attraction got older the trees were bigger and it enhanced it.
