  1. I don’t disagree that DB changed the landscape, but I argue TR:TR had worst placement of any ride in that section: http://www.dafe.org/articles/darkrides/tombRaiderTheRide.html

  2. I voted Adventure Express as it would be a fun coaster that work well for families and is great for night rides. With the new additions this off-season they could add some lighting effects for at night that would be great. Racer would be a nice one too as it would look great along the Coney midway during the event.

  3. I like most of the layout and the inversion fly-by, but I feel like those last two inversions as is kill the pacing as the ride ends shortly after that. Perhaps have some more track (maybe a helix or something) between the two barrel rolls or just have the slow station fly by, a turn and maybe a dip and before the final brakes. The ride is pretty strong up until that point, imo. EDIT: Another idea is after that last inversion, have some low to the ground turns as a homage/reference to the original Bat.

  4. I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to bring this concept to life in Planet Coaster, and here it is! The ride entry plaza pays homage to Vortex, with the ride's station being themed to the fictional "Vortex Vehicles" auto shop. Not stopping at Vortex, the ride's paint scheme also pays homage to the park's original Demon coaster with an alternating yellow-orange-red color scheme, with all of the visible inversions being red. The queue borrows some inspiration from Lightning Rod at Dollywood, with guests walking through the bottom of the auto shop: The boarding station has some light theming, with license plates displaying the different states Cedar Fair properties are located in: I made a few modifications to the layout, so it is actually a 10-inversion coaster. This would give it the record for the most inversions of any coaster in North America in addition to the previously established launch coaster inversion record: Riders park in a launch tunnel while engine-revving sound effects play, with lighting effects at night: The ride launches into its first element, a 16-story sea-serpent roll: After exiting, the ride travels over a brief ejector speed hill before flying into a twisted reverse cobra roll: After exiting that maneuver, the ride flies into a zero-g stall near the entry plaza: The ride rounds a low-to-the-ground turn filled with positive g's, before ejecting riders sideways into a wave turn: The ride travels over another speed hill and into an underground batwing maneuver, paying homage to Vortex. The ride exits the batwing and coasts over an off-axis airtime hill before climbing into the midcourse brake run. The MCBR slows the trains enough for riders to enjoy a hangtime-filled station fly-by, exciting guests in line. The ride rounds one final turn and goes into an in-line roll above the ride's entrance. Here's an overhead view: This ride was designed with Vekoma in mind, but I think if Kings Island were to actually build something like this, I think Zamperla would be an interesting candidate. They're rumored to be working on Dragster a few hours north, as well as providing the two rides in Adventure Port next year. I'd be interested to see what they could do with their overhauled coaster division. What do y'all think? Comments, criticisms, concerns?

  5. With the announcement of Adventure Port, our beloved Adventure Express is set to open with “enhanced theming” in 2023. While no details have been released, I’m sure there are a number of different show elements that we’d love to see brought back up to snuff. This could include: - The return of the “Station Master/Outpost 5” audio that used to play in the queue and station - The return of various jungle sound effects that were included throughout the beginning ride - Updated show scene and lighting elements in all of the tunnels - A refresh of the final lift hill with functioning effects and upgraded audio What do you think? Is there anything in particular that you do/do not want to see?

  7. Valid points... I'm all for a helix or additional turns maybe like maverick does low to the ground. Still say that the Boomerang inversion is the highlight of this design though numerous other inversions look amazing as well. Regardless of what type of coaster replaces Vortex I think the design needs to include a boomerang with tunnel. Now I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't.

  8. So first of all this ride looks dynamite! Appears to have good speed, is a decently lengthy layout, unique inversions, and good airtime moments... I'm not sure if I'm totally sold on the car/hotrod theme seeing as we already have 2 car themed rides in that area. However, I love the idea of it paying homage to demon and Vortex (especially with the underground boomerang inversion). I would say I prefer this idea to anything else suggested on the forum so far.

  10. So, assuming that there aren’t widespread changes, this is what you get vs what had/what was advertised: VIP Lounge (Was) Open park hours (Now) Limited hours Bottled drinks (Was) a feature (Now) Not available Bottled water (Was) a feature (Now) Jugs with rotten fruit sitting in the top Other parks benefits (Was) available (Now) not competent to tell us for sure Preferred parking (Was) a feature (Now) possibly inaccessible many days Pass Perks (Was) some sort of joke (Now) offers “enhanced” prizes which are equal to the ones you paid for with your pass I implore you NOT to tow the company line. Remember you paid for these features. If other people were taking advantage of things like the bottled drinks then that is not your problem. You paid for it. That’s the park’s problem to figure out. Also, taking your payment and then changing the terms is not something you should accept. They offered a product and you accepted it. They can greatly reduce the value and you cannot opt half way through to downgrade your pass and get a refund. Remember, the people that bought this pass shelled out $300-$400. The things listed above are not like gold pass benefits. You paid extra for these features. You should demand to get what you paid for. If you think otherwise you are nothing more than a sycophant, and even if you think highly of the park this alone reflects how the park thinks about you.

  11. Then there is this situation (Cedar Fair is represented by Worthy Rent A Car in this scene).

  12. Good thoughts, but I would just as soon ship Backlot (coaster only) to Michigan's Adventure. On the site make a new Swan Lake. This would bring back some of the beauty we lost in 2008.

  13. Needs to be either in the station, the queue, or on the 2nd lift somewhere. EDIT- I also realize the irony in putting up a plaque stating 'thou shall not mess with Adventure Express' while they're about to mess with Adventure Express.
