  1. I think an extreme spinner would be a great addition. I wouldn't mind a Copperhead Strike though. I really enjoyed it when I went to Carowinds. One thing I will say about an Xtreme spinner is if KI adds one, don't get your hopes up that it would run like ride to happiness. I think knowing our CEO and GM, it would run with the magnet that Time Traveler does so it can appeal to more guests. Apparently, Ride To Happiness doesn't get that long of a line because of how crazy it is. I think it would make more business sense to run with the magnet on. Sucks for us enthusiasts though.

  2. I agree. I got the chance to ride Copperhead Strike last year and I thought it was really underrated. The ride experience would complement Kings Island very well.

  3. I would love a little bit bigger Copperhead Strike in the Vortex spot please. IndyGuy4KI approved.

  4. Ride to Happiness apparently has a capacity of 700-800 riders per hour, though that could be the result of it only running two trains. Though it isn't a spinner, Copperhead Strike at Carowinds runs at a theoretical capacity of about 1200 riders per hour, which is the same as Mystic Timbers and Beast, although I can't confirm how often Copperhead reaches that hourly capacity of 1200 rph. If they gave KI a spinner with three trains and an hourly capacity that compares with something like Copperhead Strike, it could be a good fit.

  5. With the news coming out of Dorney Park, it seems we are already looking at two new potential coasters coming from Cedar Fair in 2024 (if you count Dragster 2.0 as a new coaster). Not to mention that other notable parks like Carowinds and Knotts are also on the waiting list for a new coaster as well. It's still somewhat possible we could get a new coaster next year, but it's starting to look more likely that we'll have to wait an extra year or two. Not that I'm complaining, Dorney deserves a new coaster far more than Kings Island in my opinion and it is nice seeing Cedar Fair starting to invest in their smaller parks again.

  6. 2025 is a good guess. It will not interfere with the 2024 CP reimagined TTD project. Zamperla and CF seem to have formed a relationship. 2025 would give another year of design & testing for a multi launch coaster.

  7. Yes, I agree that Twelve days of Christmas on the train needs an update. I still loved what they did with the train in 2005 in terms of having live entertainment in the station and onboard the train. There were not as many lights on the route as there are now, but it was certainly more entertaining. I agree that I street and the ice skating could open earlier. I have not done the ice skating in this incarnation of Winterfest but it always seems so crowded.

  8. You may not like it, but this was the peak of souvenir cup design.

  9. Or this is the part of the season that historically has not had those types of issues so they are diverting those resources to other things. Time will tell if it comes back.

  10. In his lastest video, ElToroRyan reported that he heard rumors of Cedar Fair executives riding Velocicoaster and being extremely impressed with it. He even mentioned Cedar Fair might be planning Intamin LSM coasters. I don’t know how likely this is (because it’s Intamin), but something like Velicicoaster (unfortunately without the insane theming) would be perfect. It is not incredibly intense, so the general public loves it, and enthusiasts love it too.

  11. I went to Cedar Point during the last week of August and I was able to ride every coaster in the park, plus many flat rides, plus 7 re-rides on coasters. While not everyone may be able to do it, it's possible.

  12. I do think an extreme spinner would probably be a more marketable attraction compared to a standard multi-launch. As of 2023, There is only one Mack extreme spinner in the country and it's a considerable distance from Kings Island. The only nearby spinning coaster is going to be Wild Mouse at Cedar Point, and that's a family attraction that doesn't compare to the size and cost of an extreme spinner. Although I do believe that an extreme spinner would be the best realistic candidate for a new coaster, it is important to note that a large portion of the general public aren't as comfortable with spinning rides. It's not as much of a problem for flat rides and Wild Mouse since those rides are much smaller in both scale and cost, but when you put spinning into a potential $25-30 million attraction with inversions and launches, it could be seen as too much for the general public. I do think having a magnet like Time Traveler may tone down the spinning a bit to make the ride a bit more comfortable. From a business perspective, however, it may be a safer option to just go with a standard mack multi launch to appeal to as big of a crowd as possible. Although it wouldn't be as unique of an experience as an extreme spinner, a standard multi-launch that focuses on hangtime, inversions and ejector airtime would still complement the park well and would be different enough from a ride like Maverick to justify its placement in the same state.

  13. If they go with Mack Rides, I wouldn't mind seeing a different experience in the back car. DC Rivals has backwards facings seats on the last car. Steel Taipan and ICON having spinning seats on the last car.

  14. If you are going to do that, you might as well partner with them and get their licensing.

  15. I think that would be nice, and maybe rope off certain areas until it becomes night time. Has KI ever done live Reindeer? I think that would be a cool thing for guests to see and a lot of holiday events incorporate them in.

  17. Universal has discussed plans to open separate gate amusements such as year round Halloween Haunts, such as in Las Vegas, smaller children's themed parks such as recently announced in Texas, and a host of other opportunities both domestically and internationally. This represents a stolen opportunity which was open to operators such as Cedar Fair which has been quite reluctant to open or acquire second gates near parks and resorts they currently operate. An excellent example of FUN failing to extend the brand and operational know-how of attractions management is abundantly clear in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Cedar Fair has overlooked the opportunity of operating the NASCAR Museum in tandem with its Carowinds Park. Such a bolt-on exhibit opportunity would tie into NASCAR theming at Carowinds and extend marketing dollars by allowing for combination ticket sales at little to no additional expense. Ripley's Entertainment as well as Merlin Entertainment has grabbed the opportunity to operate second gates adjacent to popular destinations thus lowering marketing spends and capturing audience and revenues from competing operators both big and small. The move by Universal will capitalize on the markets FUN and others have created. This is, of course, a disappointment to investors who see the opportunity costs of failing to expand the brands to fully capture the revenues available adjacent to big draws such as theme parks. https://www.dailybulletin.com/2023/02/01/universal-studios-to-expand-regional-theme-park-concepts-in-u-s-and-worldwide/

  19. I know others have said this, but I think the best fit for Kings Island would be a MACK Rides Extreme Spinner would be the absolute best fit for Kings Island as it would be a modern launch coaster with inversions while also being different from Flight of Fear. Also, it would look stunning in The Vortex plot of land along the midway. I think Kings Island's next coaster will open in 2025 as Cedar Point’s reimagining of Top Thrill Dragster will probably prevent a new coaster for Kings Island in 2024. However, I suppose there is a chance for 2024. Since Dorney Park is currently filing foundation plans for the park‘s new rollercoaster, I’ll point out that Orion’s foundation plans were filed on April 18, 2019. I assume that not a ton of prep work will be done to The Vortex plot of land before foundations are dug, but if we see plans pop up around April or May, we will have a good idea of what is coming.

  21. I think this is a good move. I know a lot of guests get angry when they cannot use their Fast Lane passes on all the top attractions because they unknowingly bought the wrong pass.

  23. I hope they do sell them at the higher price, obviously to make more money for the park.
