  1. There's been a crane up at AE all day. Earlier it was extended all the way out over the lift.

  2. The fact that they built the VIP Lounge implies to me that they’re pretty committed to it. And I’m sure that they are exploring other things to do. Personally, as it stands now, I’m not happy with it but I’m not angry. So long as things like VIP, Preferred Parking, and line skips work as advertised then I’m not angry. I would have been elated with the program the way that it stood when I bought the pass last year. If it were renewal time now, it would be a tough decision. If they added maybe private events for Prestige or really anything to add value then it would probably tilt the scales in favor.

  4. Sounds about right as I feel if I remember correctly the firework show in 2021 had a loose theme around the theming of Orion. Mainly not terribly long before the show started it had a "countdown to launch" kind of thing in a space style theme. Again very loose. Also tie that in with the Area 72 launch party thing they did that year.

  5. I had the same thought. My guess is that this will be vaguely Adventure Port themed. Question then: what if the fireworks open before AP does? I suppose it could kind of act as a hype video for a little while.

  6. It will be interesting to see if they decide to make any positive changes this year. It is still the beginning of the season and I try really hard to give some grace for new things, but seeing as they had a bit of a trial run with it near the middle end of last season and all off season to smooth out some of the bumps, its just a bit jarring and it appears to be an incredibly anemic offering for those that paid the extra bucks for what they felt were initially great benefits. As I've said before, I really feel bad for folks who got these passes in hopes of getting a great experience out of them but instead are being treated to things they could get literally anywhere else. And like most of you have said, if they do not make any concrete, realistic and money-worthy changes, I do not see most people wanting to renew this level of pass. And that's even if CF brings it back.

  7. I thought you guys would enjoy this video I made about an S+S 4d Coaster coming to KI. Let me know what you think.

  8. Despite what the map says, I think they might have dropped it from being part of Adventure Port. No repaint, and no new concrete to or around it. It doesn't really fit in either AP or I-Street, honestly it would probably fit best in Coney. There are better things that building could be used for.

  9. Also for Prestige Passholders, why don't they demolish the current ticket buildings and build new buildings and open up the pathway behind the ticket buildings and make that the Prestige Pass entrance? I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that was the season pass entrance during the Paramount days.

  10. unless they made a dedicated "exit" at the far RIGHT when looking at this - switch the exit turnstiles to the side by guest services which might make sense anyway as a main exit side. At full close all of these lanes could swap to exit only. The long median leading to the "main" security point could use a "cut" in it about halfway down to allow access to both check in sides easier. Or maybe the lane in the center could be dedicated exit. I think this set-up could work, and I like that it opens up the entry plaza - could maybe even make the entry plaza a little nicer since the crowd would be pushed a I bit further out. I would maybe push these checkpoints right to the end of the path before you get to the plaza to use the full length of the walkway leading up as a queue line

  11. I like that they are also using this to tie into (at least in name) to adventure port. Wonder if it will tie in visually in any way or just be general “adventure” in the park.

  13. I know I've been preaching this and we're all excited about Orion so just hear me out on this. What if KI got a record breaking floorless coaster by B&M to replace Vortex? I'm not talking about a dive but a traditional, ground up, 6+ inverting, floorless coaster. One hasn't been built ground up in years so the park could really make something special. With Vortex and Firehawk gone, the park's lost 11 inversions so adding a B&M floorless could help bring that number back up. Not to mention the elements they can do and the amount of land they can work with. Much like how Banshee broke invert records, KI could easily break some floorless records. All it would have to do would be at least 170ft high (or have a drop greater than 170ft), be 4,300 ft or longer, or reach a top speed over 70mph and it'd break records. I'm not saying it has to break all three I listed, but I feel like they could easily take all three records, if not two out of the three. I know enthusiasts are tired of B&Ms, (some more than others), but they're safe, reliable, and are a good ROI: all things Cedar Fair values in the coasters they install. Thoughts? Before you answer, think about it from a business perspective. We've seen it with Orion that as long as the GP is happy, the park's happy so I'm arguing that they could market a "record breaking floorless coaster" it would be a hit.

  14. Well if it is a trouble executing what corporate wanted, then every park with Prestige is failing lol. None of them offer bottled drinks anymore and they did when Prestige was first offered. Carowinds used to have prepacked cookies and brownies and now just cooler water and chips. The International Restaurant could be used for a climate controlled location. It is rented out so infrequently (except for during WF), that the park could still provide it as VIP along with a list of published black out/not available days. Especially if they still had an outdoor one for the few days it isn't available. The big issue is, and why everyone is so vocal, is that take KI for example where they teased us all summer what the Lounge looked like as you come off of Adventure Express and you see the shaded seats with outdoor couches, fans, TVs, variety of snacks, and bottled beverages. So when they then offered the Prestige Pass, everyone remembers what benefits they saw with that, plus preferred parking for 2023, VIP Lounge in Soak City, one-time use FL, and bring 2 guests free and bought it. Then quickly, within days to a few weeks after people purchased it, bottled drinks got taken away. Now preferred parking says subject to availability. No outdoor couches in the new VIP. Soak City Lounge is now only being advertised as seating with no snacks or cooler water mentioned. Many called it the bait and switch. A wise former member here used to say "they have your money and things are subject to change". Many have sent in complaints to guest services. BeeastFarmer has spelled out a great way to bring back said benefits people were expecting so that it isn't abused. I am sure some will renew Prestige if they decide to offer it again, but everyone I know that has Prestige has been adamant that they are not renewing Prestige next year unless some pretty significant perks are added this year. The value just isn't there now for many people and their reason for initially purchasing the Prestige is gone.

  19. ^you don't consider a bag of chips worth three times the cost for the pass LOL. But yeah unless some really cool perks show up this year, I suspect most with Prestige will go back to gold or platinum next year.

  20. @Taylor.B03I like your concept, but the issue would be with exiting the park. This would restrict movement out of the park, especially at higher demand times.

  21. I do like the idea of moving the security checkpoints up. I think it would be better since it would allow security to cover more area as well as have a better view of the parking lot since currently it is too far up to see much. I made this little illustration of what I think this could look like. The Yellow is a security checkpoint, the red lines are fences (Some fences are already exist)

  22. It is a shame that changes in society has necessitated modifications that were not required when the park opened. This topic is a balancing act between aesthetics and security. Best solution would be 8-10 foot fencing with barbed wire on top (or heck why not double fence it with a moat and alligators LOL). But then it looks like you are entering a prison LOL. The low profile fence has minimal distraction from an aesthetic standpoint, but also increases the likelihood of being compromised. But then of course people compromised or attempted to compromise so additional fencing goes up. The blocked off areas by temp fencing give clear site lines that the peripheral vision of security should recognize if someone is within those zones. Further, someone jumping temp fencing is more likely to knock it over or make more noise in getting around it, thus bringing attention to themselves. I think for the casual guest (one or two visits per year or every couple of years), the temp fencing gives off the vibe that something broke down that path or it is uneven or puddles, so they temporary blocked it off and they don't think twice about it. Other options would be to move the entire security checkpoint forward closer to the parking lot and have the checkpoints be at the various walkway entrances into the plaza; move the metal detectors into the toll booth area AKA Kings Dominion style, or redo the plaza area with a defined funnel pathway towards security checkpoints. It is only the season pass holders that have to question every little detail LOL

  23. So vids from the HP faithful from this past weekend have me very optimistic. Track work should be done within a few days (maybe even tomorrow), they've done transfer track tests, I think the chain is on the lift, and now they basically just have to do clearance test and actual testing. I trust the HP fanbase a lot based on personal experience with some of them, and most of them are guessing Memorial Day or early June for an opening. If true, that gives it roughly a month for me for it to get as much of the kinks out of the way as possible before I go in mid-July.

  25. I would agree that area is saturated with restaurants. You can stand at that location and see three restaurants (Chicken Shack, Festhaus, and Hank's) and that doesn't count being a short stroll from IS or Coney Mall. That doesn't even count the ice cream stand by Banshee. That area could use a flat. Doing some quick measuring on Google Earth you could easily fit anything from a Top Scan to a Musik Express to a Teacups style ride. With the amount of Zamperla flats they are putting in the chain, this is the ride KI needs in that spot (https://www.zamperla.com/products/tea-cup/). Get rid of that pirate on the top and you can easily bring back a new version of Der Spinning Keggers. It 1. Fits the theme of the area, 2. give you a super high capacity flat ride (according to their site around 1,500 people an hour), and 3. gives you a ride that easily run during Winterfest. During Winterfest that area is quite dead and it would help the area tremendously.
