  1. A $30 million coaster can’t really be considered a budget coaster imo. The reason I believe it is smaller than, say, Fury is because the GP. CF obviously wants a ride that appeals massively to the GP. Fury does this well, but it still seems like too much for the average person imo. It is almost always less than a 10 minute wait. It is incredibly smooth and overall a very comfortable ride, but I will say the lats are pretty strong, and I could definitely see the GP thinking they’re too much. It makes sense for CF to try to scale it back to appeal more to the GP. I’m not saying Fury isn’t a popular ride, part of why the line is so short is that it absolutely tears through crowds. I’m just saying it seems like CF is trying to get the best balance between a high thrill ride that draws in people from all over and one that locals will love and keep coming back for for years to come. As has been said too many times to count on here, CF and KI are a business. They aren’t really looking to cater to enthusiasts. They want money. Kiga will most likely deliver on getting people in the first year or two after it is built. What they want is it to keep bringing back people in the long run. With KIs focus on being more of a family park than, say, CP, a less intense giga seems like the most logical choice from a business standpoint. Who knows, it might be more intense than Fury. This is just why I believe it is what it is. If CF was really looking to cut costs or wanted a “cheap” coaster, KI wouldn’t even be getting a giga. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. ^Some drones, some aliens, some Area 51 raiding plans, some fighting, and a whole lot of nothing on the giga front. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. ^No. I think he’s showing support for the troops marching on Area 51. He’s emphasizing how although we may seem like just a shadow at the moment, if enough group together, we could form the full man, the full team, behind the camera and come out victorious. Let’s march on Area 51 and find the second half of our giga! Who’s with me!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I was also here to... bring up controversial opinions and... ummm... be the guy to get stoned to death by everyone else... yeah. Also can’t forget Duffy’s Designs for the *most accurate depiction of the KI giga to not follow the blueprints exactly for creative reasons. *Note: Most accurate apparently means most accurate scenery. It wasn’t mentioned anywhere but you should OBVIOUSLY know that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. While these songs all fit well, I’d much prefer an original track much in the same way MT got one. IMAScore makes some amazing coaster music. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. ^Based on fury’s and what the blueprint shows, I’d agree it’ll be more of an airtime filled turn than a high g turn. However, I wouldn’t put it past B&M to cram both into it (zero g entrance, high g turn, zero g exit) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I understand, but what’s the point of US getting all worked up about a teaser campaign when WE know what it is. Like I said, yes it’s fun, but there’s no reason to keep checking for teasers every 10 minutes. Whether they show up today, tomorrow, a month from now, or on the day of the announcement, the GP won’t care how long time the teasers go on for. In other cases, I feel like it was more of a necessity, especially with MT as it was more hidden and if you didn’t know what was going on, you might not think anything is happening, especially for the first few month. This coaster clearing is big, and can be seen easily from the Eiffel Tower. Many of my GP friends talk to me about it (not knowing what it is of course, but knowing something big is coming). Imo a teasing campaign isn’t necessary to get the word spread that a coaster is coming. Many know that at least something knew will be coming next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’m not really sure what people want out of a teaser campaign. Firstly, in relation to this particular coaster, we already seem to know pretty much everything. Teasers are fun, yes, but they won’t really add anything at this point. Secondly, I’m not sure why people say KI teasers are lacking and CPs aren’t. I’d much prefer Banshee and MT style teasing than what they did with Valravn. Plus, SV already had track in place before they even mentioned it. KI teasers are great imo. If you want to talk about fantastic teasers tho, look at what Holiday World did with Thunderbird. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I’ll just repeat what I said before. Yes they use stock footage for KI. They have had a commercial going around using Fury, Hydra, Behemoth, and MT. Also a few years back (before Banshee I believe) they had a haunt commercial using an invert (I believe talon but I’m not sure). Stock footage is used frequently in KI commercials. Some feature exclusively KI rides, yes, but many feature rides from other parks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. ^Yeah they consistently have commercials with rides from other parks. I’ve seen Fury, Hydra, Behemoth, and MT all in the same commercial for KI lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. ^Considering nearly every major attraction takes years in conceptualizing, planning, design, and construction, I’d say it’s very unlikely that they have left such a major component of the ride unfinished until the final few months before it’s actually finished. Is it completely impossible tho? No. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. ^Yet again I’m reminded how amazing a giant green B&M would look in the skyline. Please KI, that’s all I want in the next coaster. I’ll even take a dive if it can be a giant green B&M ;-; Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I’m somewhat torn on whether or not I should keep following this thread. I love all the leaks and new info we get, but I don’t want to learn TOO much. I love that we know the layout and colors, but specifics, such as banking on turns, may ruin the announcement for me as I like learning about these there. (Ruin is a bit of a strong word, but it would almost definitely make it less fun) I feel like my sentiment is shared by many, but that does not mean everyone in here should stop posting stuff! This is a decoding thread after all! I just feel like this might be why the small quarrels have been happening. I’ll probably just stick around because it gives me something to read. Plus I’m an engineer so I really love scouring over all the blueprints lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. ^I’m sure someone will... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. ^I May be completely wrong, but I believe the rattle is due more to the ground the footers are poured in than anything B&M themselves do. I believe all Ohio B&Ms, new and old, have a rattle. Meanwhile none of Carowinds’ or Dollywood’s collective B&Ms have a rattle. If anyone knows for certain why the rattle happens, and if I’m wrong, please let me know. It’s always something that I’ve been curious about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. https://wwjnewsradio.radio.com/articles/valravn-roller-coaster-trains-collide-cedar-point Since this has come up a few times, yes there was a collision. I’m not sure if it is verified but I’ve heard that it did some damage to the metal retractable floors, as they were apparently up when the collision happened. As for how this applies to this thread... hopefully our coaster doesn’t do this. Edit: http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm - more info from screamscape Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. ^Guys stop taunting me with the beautiful lime green B&M ;-; Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. This is how I see the whole “numbers” thing: Millennium Force: No number and no need for a number. It was the first giga coaster and numbers were not really a thing yet. Millennium Force itself is a great name. Plus it implies a number (2000) because it’s the turn of the millennium to the year 2000 (obviously). Intimidator 305: I don’t think it would have a number if intimidator at Carowinds did not have the same name. They needed a way to differentiate the two, and Intimidator 305 is more intimidating (no pun intended) than Intimidator 232. This number was necessary and kinda started numbering conventions. Leviathan: A number would be kinda odd as this coaster is not taller than Millennium Force. It would be weird to attach a number for a coaster smaller than a current giga. Plus, unlike intimidator, Leviathan is a unique coaster name to Cedar Fair, and so a number was not needed. Fury 325: Record breaker, worlds tallest giga, marketability. “325” really fits as it rolls off the tongue and gives more depth than the name “Fury” which is a bit of a short name for a mammoth coaster. Though to be fair, I really would love the name Fury even if that was it, but 325 fits well (btw it’s pronounced three-two-five, not Three Twenty Five. If you don’t believe me, listen to the audio on the lift) KI giga: about the same as Leviathan. Unique name and not a record breaker. No need to put a number, even though it could fit. Plus, CF filed trademarks for both “Fury” and “Fury 325” and neither Orion or Polaris were trademarked with a number. They may file the trademark later with the number attacked so as to not spoil to height though, so take whatever you want out of that. Personally I don’t think there will be a number tho. Edit: Kinda beat to it lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Happy 7000th post of the thread everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Only problem is Leviathan opened after I305 and doesn’t have a number Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. 2) Polaris 3) If neither, just comment it below! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Just to get back on topic, what do you guys think the name should be (bear with me because I’m going to double post so everyone can see the results easily). Just like whichever name you think coaster will be: 1) Orion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Or there could be multiple rides (giga and flat) which is unlikely. I think the most likely possibility is that they are the names for our giga and another ride at a separate park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. All I can say to that is Viva la RMC! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. To whoever said Carowinds is currently better than Kings Island, I am going to strongly disagree. Carowinds has Fury, Copperhead Strike, Afterburn, and I232. After that, there’s practically nothing else worthwhile. Fury is outstanding. I’ve yet to ride CHS but I’ve heard it’s fun. Afterburn is fun but not as good as Banshee imo. Same with I232, except it’s bad days make it horrible. On top of KIs top 4 (Diamondback, Banshee, Beast, and Mystic Timbers) there are numerous unique coasters that help back them up, such as AE, Bat, Vortex, Flight of Fear, Invertigo, and Racer, to name a few. While Fury outclasses anything at KI, KI has a much more solid lineup imo. Plus, I’m not sure if it was just me, but Carowinds employees have been incredibly rude nearly every time I’ve gone. The number of times I’ve had an employee get mad and yell at me for something crazy, such as a walking fast (no I was not running, I just walk fast and walked faster to get to Fury) was insane. For Gods sake they made me walk through the metal detector like 5 times because my watch, held over my head, made the metal detector go off. Again, I understand safety is a concern, but I have my watch held over my head, just like at KI and CP, but for some reason they didn’t notice. I finally ripped my watch off and threw it in the bowl (idk what to call it lol) and walked through without making it go off this time (shocker). These things, among others, left a really bad taste in my mouth. For me, Carowinds is a bottom tier park, brought up only by Fury. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
