  1. So it may still get up and functional before the season is over. The questions i have is does anyone know what a "normal" time it would take for something like this to happen, being a sign falling then the amount of time to clear the area, blueprints, clear zoning, building, and being operational. I just remember it being said that the sign would be up in late to early june, then it would be ready by mid july, now seeing we are in the closing days of August what was held up to move it back a month? and will it actully get up and fully operational by seasons end? i mean its been 10 months since it fell if not a little more. -rctfreak-
  2. Well also in other Paramount rides with movie names, Drop Zone: great ride, but the movie? it was very mediocore and you dont really hear about it at all. Tomb Raider: I think that it will stick for quite a while even more if they come out with more movies/videogames and the such. Face/Off great ride, movei isnt mentioned much now. Thats the one downside of naming rides after Paramount movies at the Paramount parks is that 5,10,15 years down the road are people really going to remember the movie? Top Gun probally but alot i would say arnt going to be remembered.
  3. I'm not going out to say i am going to get a Six Flags pass next year, but i was hoping that it would be a B&M, which of course it isnt. I think with looking at Boomerang Bay,Nick Central, the parade, TR:TR, and now this that PKI is trying to do theaming like Universial, Islands of Adventure, and Disney. Personally i would much rather have a record breaker, or atleast a hyper with little to no theaming then well looking at Tomb Raider, its in ways a overly glorified HUSS Top Spin. I have seen/ridden other Top Spins out there and well personall the theaming doesnt to a ton to me. When looking at other rides out there, even with in the park. Vortex, no theaming, great ride. Then looking at rides at other parks. Holiday World uses just the natural surroundigs for Legend and Raven. Cedar Point other then Top Thrill Dragster they dont theme much of anything, Disaster Transports theaming is well a Disaster. Dont get me wrong I am looking foward to it next year, and finally a coaster! But overall the theaming isnt going to do much for me either way. -rctfreak-(who still wishes it would have been a b&m, oh well theres always 3 years from now)
  4. Being a ACE member myself since '99 it use to be they would check it and you could bring 1 non-ACE guest. Since then this year atleast they havent checked it at all. Also as you figured out the hard whay i think is that on the ACE website it does infact say 9:15 yet it isnt as you now know
  5. Well considering the previous "ride injurys" in the past month or so through out the park, the most recent being by someone who was riding Cedar Point's version of what KI calls the antique cars when he was bumped from behind by another car, and hurt his back. Now just me but those cars if you hurt your back it has to take some skill unless you have a pre existing back injury. Thats what i am thinking here, for 2 people to both get back injurys are rare, even more rare on a ride that has been there for 2-3 years now and nothing previous has happened untill now. Has it been anounced if they will try to sue the park, which seems to be a high thing to do in amusement parks now a days. -rctfreak-
  6. Figured this would be a nice random day to pick to write a TR. Anyway here we go. In park time:10:20am Got through a nice crowd through the metal detectors and turnstiles then headed twards The Beast (which is in my opinion the best coaster in the park) rode it 2 times being in the back seat, where I felt as if my internal organs and bones were being smashed into a bloody plup, after that "experence" you may say rode again in the 8th seat, being middle seat 3rd car. Complete change TONS smoother and enjoyable. After forgeting the seatbelt and trying to stand up, and making a fool of myself i was then off to Flight of Fear. Flight of Fear's line was 10 mintues if that, started right after the steps into the UFO, rode train 1 second to back seat. My only grip about that is the small raised section on the floor of the train so my feet wernt level with the foot restraints making my right foot really uncomfortable. Overall it was a great ride, minus my right foot. Being at this time around 11:30 I decided to eat at the Festhaus now and beat the lunch rush(which i did infact do) 2 slices of cheese pizza,a cup of oreo pudding, and ice water cost be $7 and some change, now i know that Kings Island may up the price on some things so they can get a profit but this is horrible, i can go to any pizza place in the area and get more food for $7 plus a drink, I now will only get ice water to lessen costs. After lunch I then went to Son of Beast Well it was my plan at least, arriving at Son of Beast I came to the visualization that the line did infact go through the ques before the ramps up, not wanting to wait for this my friend and I tried to think of a ride that would have no line, so what did he come up with.....the train. Relising that this was on the complete other side of the park and it would be stupid to walk all the way over there, i agreed and off we went to the train. I must say that the Kings Island's train is quite nice but i would like if they tried to either spice up the meager theaming they have and make it look nice, or just take it all out. In the state it is the walls are half rotten in places. I think that area would have great potential if they put some more theaming in there, mabye with mechinal moving parts of the theaming, or like what Cedar Point has with boneville. Anyway took the roundtrip, got a good view of Boomerang Bay, having never been in it myself i cant say that much, but it looks fantastic from the outside they did a great job with it. After getting back from our roundtrip we got in line for The Wild Thornberrys River Adventure. Its a nice ride for a flume ride but it seems in place like right after where the coconuts are and after where the snake is that it seems the log is more ridding on the bottom of the trough then floating in the water itself. The elephent was not working today, but i got quite damp anyway. I then went for a view up in Effeil Tower. When up there i spoted the 2 locations of King Cobra track as well as where the Coney Mall sign is. Does anyone know if it willbe put back u p after the parade is done in august? I had time for one more ride so i took a spin so to speak on Delerium. I absolutly love this ride, rode in seat 48. great ride then i had to head out which was a little adventure in of its self. When heading out to go to the location of my car i had to go basically due left once i exited, well in doing this my friend and I got in the workers parking lot which is fenced in so we got rather turned around and lost spending 5 mintues trying how to get out of the darn thing. Other then that I had a great time, crowds were rather high for a friday Time out of park:2:35pm -rctfreak-

  8. I agree, it will lessen lost people, both in groups and people lost on where to find rides. and $5 isnt bad at all. -rctfreak-
  9. I have a feeling you wont be seeing the last one either, now with knowing this something else makes more sence. I was at the park monday form 7pm-10pm and i noticed in Action Zone where the X-play stage was the signs that where around it saying the dates and what not were no longer there and it was just the scafolding there. Putting 2 and 2 together now it looks like Xtended Play is gone.
  10. You said when he fell he was on the 50ft platform, would that mean he jumped a gate then to get to the steps, or were the steps ever used by the public on day to day occasion? wouldnt a ride operator have seen him jump to get to the steps? -rctfreak-
  11. I was looking on this site and PKI UNLIMITED,and in the history section there are conflicting answers on when Enchanted Voyage was theamed to the Smurf's being either 1982 or 1984 depending on the site. Could some one clear this up for me to the exact year? thanks -rctfreak-
  12. I have heard about someone jumping/falling off the tower either he was depending on the story i heard intoxicated or missed footing or wanted to commit suicide, i wouldnt know 100% sure if thats the reasoning for the bars at the top, but it makes sence. Also for Drop Zone i rode it 2 monday,at night in the rain mind you, and both times no rotation what so ever, i remember earlier in the year it would rotate once. and for the "cable slacking" i know what your talking about, it seems like it takes a while for it to settle up there before the 7 seconds it sits before the drop. I did count by when there is the "cable slacking" untill the srop its self it takes 27 seconds, 7 is after it settles. -rctfreak-
  13. B&M, I can ride a B&M invert or floorless any day for ever, Arrrow coasters are just way to rough for me (as a collective group, Flight of Fear,Vortex arnt to bad) Intamin i like too with the coasters out there like Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and alot of the Supermans out there, for the best restraint system i like the Intamin's the best.
  14. Today when i was at KI, 7/19 it took me 30 mintues to get through the metel detectors, why you may ask? because there were 8 open out of the numerous they have, so my question is why do thay have that large of a number of the detectors when a small number of them are open? -rctfreak-
  15. 1.The Beast 2.Flight of Fear 3.Vortex 4.Face/Off 5.Son of Beast favoreate rides 1.The Beast 2.Flight of Fear 3.Delerium 4.Vortex 5.Drop Zone
  16. Your not the only one, i dont really like it either, why can it just be like the other sign, plan simple to the point,
  17. They have always been red...with the un-needed knob on the bottom of them, guys know what i mean here -rctfreak-
  18. I actully like the idea of a set closing time, so that way you will have people know the exact time the park will close. What i do want PKI to do is that i know at Cedar Point they close the lines at closing, for example the park closes at 10, you get in line for Millennium Force at 9:59 and the line is say 2 hours. They wont cut off the line even if it is midnight when you get on. I know the KI policy unless it changed is that they will close the lines so it clears by 10, is this still true? -rctfreak-
  19. I dont think this thread will be biased....... Here are my thoughts though, Kings Island needs to let The Beach take care of the waterpark in the area, and PKI needs to take cxare of the amusement park in the area, if they tried they could work real good together, i would much rather have the BB area developed with coasters and other thrill rides then a waterpark, and go to The beach for a waterpark -rctfreak-
  20. Personallly, this is not one of the things i think of when riding either drop zone or power town....which one would have the better shot of killing me. With Power Tower and all the other S&S Turbo Drops (launches down) or Space Shots (launches up) i am guessing that if there was a air pressure loss, there is a back up air pressure supply in another pipe that runs up the ride, i doubt its a air pressure fails, sucks to be you senerio. Both rides have not had a fatality by mechinal error to my knowlage. The Drop Zone death was because of worker error, correct me if i am wrong there. -rctfreak-
  21. With any games knocking things off, ie. the plate breaking game, the one when you hit the cats, and the tin can game, dont throw the ball hard, throw it accuratly and not very fast. It doesnt take much to knock it off. -rctfreak-
  22. One change, woulf actully in a round about way be about 2 or 3. My one change would be, not to theme everything up so gosh darn much, leave the theaming to Disney and Universal. There are so many parks out there, Ceadr Point, Holiday World, Busch Gardens (both williamsburg and Tampa) (which williamsburg uses the natural seanery in the area which is really cool, which i love, ie. The Beast through the woods. I would love to see Paramounts drop the "heavily theamed" rides and just go for the rides. Looking at the otehre Paramounts parks, i will take Volcano" The Blast Coaster, Hypersonic, Anaconda (for the tunnel in the water) over the "heavily theamed" rides we have now. just my 2 cents -rctfreak-
  23. Racer: Rebel Yell: length: 3415' Length: 3868'6' speed: 61mph Speed: 56 mph angle of decent: 45 degrees Angle of decent: 50 degrees But you are looking at 2 john allen PTC'S built within 4 years of each other. exact clone? no. but not being 100% techinal here, its been cloned, i mean look at the amount of twin racing out and back coasters. Also The Racer was not the first twin racing coaster. The Racer at Kennywood, which is actully a racing coaster with one continuous track was built in '27 -rctfreak-

    loops

my first loop i believe was on Vortex, but if i had to redo it actully i think i would aim outside of KI and on Raptor at Cedar Point.
  25. King Cobra, and for this reason only, the whole ride is still on park property! (in pieces in 3 differerent locations, but on park property none the less)
