  1. 5-1 means the front left seat of the fifth car in the train. x-2 is the front right, x-3 is back left and x-4 is back right.

Actually I believe it refers to the car and row number, not specific seats. 5-1 = 5th car, 1st row.

    Agreed.

And you guys are ridiculous. Of course it is sinking!

  2. Does anyone else remember several years ago when one of The Bat heads from the front of the train was for sale on ebay? I believe it ended up going for over $300.

Somewhere around here I have the pictures from that auction.

  3. My Dream Off- Season To-Do List For Kings Island:

    1. Redo Coney Mall

I hardly think the building of one crappy ride constitutes "rodeoing" an area.

    2. Paint The Racer

    ...back to it's original colors.

    3. Get the black gunk off the orange lap bars on The Beast at least, if not replace the orange covers!

As long as guests touch those lap bars, they will continue to turn black.

    4. Paint FD

    Agreed.

    5. Smooth Out Vortex

    Clearly it's just that simple.

    6. Fix The Crypt for whatever reason it was down all October, and bring back the theming.

What theming? Did the Crypt ever really have theming?

    7. Reduce FOF's down time (every time I came to the park this year it was down for at least 45 minutes each day, mid-day)

    Dont ride mid day laugh.gif

    8. Find a way to Increase FH's ride capacity

Got any ideas? Feel free to voice them.

    9. A New Action Theather Show

    How about Elvira's Superstition?

    10. Repave and Restripe the parking lot (Courtesy of markr)

    Would be nice.

    And Last But Not Least...

    11. Do something to SOB before SOB turns to POS!

    Too late.

  4. I believe it was supposed to be "The Beast". Did you ride Beast during Halloween Haunt? If you did, you HAD to see it, there were bright lights on a figure that looked like.... a "Beast".

Because the coaster tracks that the figure was right next to was "The Beast", I'm guessing it was supposed to be a... well maybe..... a BEAST!!!

Of course I'm just guessing though.

Could you be more specific as to what a beast looks like? It's a bit ambiguous.

  5. That's awesome! I wanna get drive trained at DB! Firehawk looks fun to drive too, but I think the funnest is FoF still, it's so fun to launch! If it's allowed, I could take a picture of our computer next April, and I do have a picture of the main control panel along with some other cool stuff, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it :/

Do it, I'm sure it will be fine... rolleyes.gif

  6. Don't let the haters get you down, it was a legitimate post. However, just be aware that the typical ride associate at that level isn't involved in any major capital expenditure decision making or given any real privileged information such as that.

Only the atypical associates are. I for example was involved in much of the park expansion in 2005-2007. Craig Ross used to call me from the ride directly to his office to discuss future plans.

  7. ^ No.

Actually yes. Kings Island and many other parks have minimum temperatures that certain coasters have to follow before they operate for the day. If the ride has been running all day it's typically not a problem, however if its below the temperature (depending on the coaster) minimum in the morning, the ride may not open until it warms up.

The poster asked about 50°, not a minimum temperature.

Thus the answer to his question(s) is still....

    No.

Actually yes... again... When I worked on Top Gun in 2004, we always had to wait until it was 50 degrees prior to opening. There are different rules for wooden coasters and steel coasters. That same year we only had to wait until it was 45 to open Son of Beast. I remember quite a few mornings, waiting in the Top Gun drive box to get a call saying it was officially 50 degrees while the SOB was already running.

I believe we had to do the same thing when I worked on Vortex in 03. I'm trying to remember if Italian Job was the same way. I moved to TRTR in the fall of 05 so I never got to spend cold mornings at IJ. Gordon do you recall the minimum opening temp for Back Lot?

  8. I feel I must chime in on this... For the last few months I've been working on a plan for Kings Island's future. This plan consists of very cost efficient changes to the park that I could virtually guarantee to very much increase attendance.

Even though The Antique Cars were fun, as is Backlot Stunt Coaster, this area is prime real estate, so to speak. A part of my plan includes removing Backlot Stunt Coaster in/ around 7 years, for a large amphitheater, and an expanse of garden space, along with a few intriguing pieces of modern art, some of the original living sculptures, and a large number of comfortable benches.

(Before you say anything about this not being in Kings Island's marketing base, it quite easily could be. This is the seventh year of my plan. Many changes precede this.)

    That will go over well...

I hardly think many people will see removing a steel coaster and replacing it with benches and art as an upgrade.

  9. In 2007 most of the remnants of the small fence that lined the pathway was there, one very unsafe bridge was there (though we crossed it from time to time), and a few other rails and guide markings were there. However as far as I understand, it is all now gone with the addition of Diamondback.

  10. Interesting. In florida, you can hover over the boneyard at Disney and scroll through the dates and see different ride vehicles and props. In one year you can see the giant canoes from the rivers of america. Another you can see the 20k leagues under the sea subs.
