  1. Well- I can honestly say; I'm not going to miss Firehawk. I remember reading up on the ride when it first came to KI; and reading about it being X-Flight at Six Flags. In the time that it has been at KI; I think I rode it a total of 5 times. The first 3 times that I rode it- I was physically hurting after I got off of the ride, mainly muscle and joint pain. The past 2 times earlier this summer were better- but I was very hesitant to ride this summer because of how I had felt, after riding it the previous times. It's pretty bad, when the parent company goes to paint the track and the track paint peels to reveal the previous track coloring... but it is what it is.... The ride has lived it's life... if it does go to KK.... good luck. I think KI made the right move. It would be bad press to remove Vortex after that ride just celebrated it's 30th anniversary last year.
  2. First time registered with this forum, semi- on/off reader. Just some general observations as our family bought Gold Season Passes for this year... We've been to the park multiple times already for the 2016 season. Was interesting to see the new entrance go up for WWC- as I had previously read some rumour reports that WWC may be taken out for the 2017? Season.. with the area being fenced off for the "Watch for falling trees signs"... Onwards to my post though- I was curious to know- especially since I am a bit new here on the forums (lived in CIncinnati for almost 30 years and have visited KI many times over the years... sorry if this is an old topic. Does anyone know what is going to happen with the old Tomb Raider/The Crypt? Obviously it is blocked off and the building is still visible from The Beast cue line... I am guessing it is being used for Storage? Also- has the 4-D Theater been resorted to Halloween Haunt storage and/or an area for an Indoor Halloween Haunted House? Just curious as we will probably be going to the Haunt related stuff later in the year. I already know the former SOB cue line is used for Halloween Haunt too (maybe?) Just a newbie here, so just curious if anyone had any insight into my questions?
  3. Hello everyone, I'm local to Cincinnati and this is my first time posting to an amusement park forum (specific to Kings Island). I've lived in Cincinnati for almost 30 years- and even before that; visited KI as a kid... Long time reader from time to time, but this is the first time I have decided to register. Especially since my wife decided that she wanted to buy Gold Season Passes. So- off to a Trip Report. We have already gone multiple times to the park for the 2016 season. We went yesterday (Memorial Day); which at first- I wasn't too thrilled about- but the day turned out to be a good day at the park. I've not been one to visit many public places on national holidays, but I was surprised that yesterday was not as crowded as I thought it would be. I think the most we waited was roughly 15-20 minutes. The family (Me, my wife, and our 9 year old son) were able to ride a good portion of coasters through the day, without any long wait times. We rode Banshee 2 times within the first 30 minutes were were in the park... Delirium, Invertigo, Racers, AE, Slingshot, The Beast, Vortex, Firehawk, BLSC, and WindSeeker (Yawn). Overall a good trip. We left when the park closed at 10PM. Just some general observations. While riding BLSC, I was going to hand our carry bag to the one of que line workers, to which he replied "Oh you can keep it with you..." ??? Okay... that was odd. But didn't have any issues. I also noticed that while in the park- Firehawk is starting to show it's age. I know it was relocated from Six Flags Ohio (formerly X-Flight)... and the paint job on it (Dark Brown) is chipping in some spots showing the former X-Flight Neon Green. Not to mention that it is LOUD, and this has been only the third time of riding it because the previous two times I rode it, I was physically in pain with muscle aches after riding it... yesterday was better, but still the whole "Lie to Fly" is extremely ROUGH on that coaster! When we rode WindSeeker, (first time for me)... it was a bit of a let down and not all that it was built up to be (sorry but seemed to be a $30 Million waste on Cedar Fair's part- honest opinion. I also didn't feel to comfortable only having a lap restraint being that high up in the air- I was expecting to have a shoulder restraint). Invertigo- while not one of my favorites- we rode it because we hadn't been on it in a long time. Sorry- but the coaster, in my opinion- needs to go... it's old and obviously from the looks of it, one set of seats has already been removed from the tail end of the train... It's a bit rough too. Makes me wonder how much life is left in it before it is removed for an almost 20 year old coaster. Just my thoughts and observations from my visit yesterday. -Bryan
