  1. Lightning Rod and Wildfire had issues with the restraints as well. That is potentially a serious issue.
  2. I'm sure they have tested it, if they make that claim. You don't need to build a full-scale ride to test a theory.
  3. Time slows down as we approach the speed of light. I know this, because the clock in my Mustang is slower than the clock in my Fusion. Smh Things Mustang owners say.. Contrary to popular belief memes, Mustangs did not cause the extinction of the dinosaurs.

  5. My trig might be rusty, but that put the incline at about 21° on those rides. I also don't know how much faith I have in the google maps measurement tool when it comes to image overlays. Edit: I should also point out that I was using "at most" as a benchmark to indicate "no larger than" for this ride.
  6. Actually the plans include an exploded view of a section which was labeled area of work. This section has exact measurements. Based on this it was possible to get a scale for the layout from a top down perspective. From there you could estimate track length based on other rides. Unless this ride has steep sections of track which is unlikely based on the drawings we have a pretty good idea of a reasonable range for the length. What was your guess for height? Some others speculated really tall based on track layout and typical lift hill angle... I'm pretty sure we had very similar results when scaling the ride based on those drawings. Here were the numbers I ended up with:
  7. According to the scale given on the drawings for the Area of Work, extrapolated out for the entire length (3250ft), the straight section is at most, 280ft long. From that, our height would be between 140-160ft based on the incline angle. If they push the incline to 35° that would get them to 196ft. You also have to take in account a length of track for the slope up to the incline and the top of the lift to transition from lift to drop. Correct, which is where the "at most" part came from.

  9. I like that speculation! Yeah it would be faster than that if we are talking a 198ft drop. The rest looks great! Also, We are calm! 74 mph is more realistic. 74 would give them the record.
  10. Cedar Fair removed the entire park from my park... But that's a story for another time... Since I missed the numbers game, here's my entry: 3250ft / 165ft Maverick44, define "popular" because Magnum, Gemini, Raptor, and Gatekeeper are huge people movers every season. Maverick and Dragster barely fit in the top 10 in ridership. And no, CF is not purchasing the lumber locally. Yes, they will be adding to the area, more than just the new ride. What else did I miss? Are you kidding. Maverick is top 6 in ridership. Show me your facts sir. Maverick may have the longest lines of any ride at that park. First, let's look at the top 10 coasters: 1 Gatekeeper 1,898,204 2 Millennium Force 1,721,918 3 Raptor 1,414,447 4 Magnum XL-200 1,355,861 5 Gemini 1,298,304 6 Maverick 1,153,896 7 Iron Dragon 1,092,242 8 Top Thrill Dragster 1,077,885 9 Mantis 925,667 10 Wicked Twister 794,264 That is from Cedar Point itself. I am aware of the numbers, which is where my statement came from. Maverick has one of the slowest lines in the park, that doesn't equate to more popularity. Millennium Force is probably the most "reliable" ride Intamin has made, and that thing snapped the lift cable in less than 2 seasons. If it didn't run 36 people per train, that line would be barely faster than Maverick's. The B&M rides are, undoubtedly, more popular when it comes to ridership. They just make quick work of crowds so the lines don't ever get as long.

  12. While names are being mentioned, Laelaps was a wolf (or dog) that caught everything it chased. If we're sticking to the wolf theme here...
  13. This is definitely [at least] two images stacked on one another. It looks like branches on front layer, rocks covered with vines on middle layer, and the forest on the bottom layer.
  14. The plans reference an abutment. An abutment is the end of a bridge. So that part may be steel, but the footer plans and GCI's past work suggest the rest will be wood. It could still use steel structure. Or even mixed structure, using steel in the areas unseen by guests. The footer detail on the plans disagrees with you. As far as we know, those foundations may only be for the north abutment section. It's unlikely, but possible.

  16. Hearing Splintercat just makes me think of how cool it would be if they used Bearcat.
  17. There's a different between sustained speed and acceleration. See: NHRA vs NASCAR.
  18. I'm 270 miles away... Of course I work 5pm-1am that day...
  19. Millennium Force does exactly what I want it to do. Go fast.
  20. Size doesn't dictate popularity. Magic Kingdom is half the size of CP.
  21. 60m is a pretty good round number to start a new class, just like 200 was a round number for the US. Also, which is a "hyper coaster" between: Magnum 204 tall, 194 drop Phantom 160 tall, 230 drop In Europe, saying something is 60m tall is just as special as saying 200ft here. It's really just imaginary lines that we say are special because of the nice round number.
