Aug 2nd is National Beer day.  Has a coaster ever been themed to beer (maybe they pull a switcheroo and we're actually getting the brown track)

Although not exactly beer, a Martini sponsored roller coaster would look BEAUTIFUL!

  2. Just caught up. Things I've noticed:

    1. Some people saying that detractors of the layout "shouldn't judge early" only to say the layout looks great themselves. (Therefore judging it and being a hypocrite)

    2. A few pages ago some people mentioned a boycott from said detractors, but I haven't noticed even the most emotional of detractors calling for a boycott of KI.

Now as much as I don't like some of the people complaining about the new layout, I also can't get behind the "Shut up and be grateful" argument for obvious reasons that have already been stated. I also can't get behind the "Don't ride it so there's less people in line" argument, because I actually want people too ride this ride so they can see maybe it isn't all bad.

Just my observations and thoughts on what went down a few pages back. I don't have anything against anyone.

  3. Wait a minute...

Son of Beast was built in 2000

Michael Schumacher won his third championship in 2000

    Miichael Schumacher raced for Ferrari

    Ferrari is based in Italy

    Italy is south of Switzerland

    Switzerland is home of Intamin

    Intamin built Millennium Force

Millennium Force's records were beat by Steel Dragon 2000

Steel Dragon 2000 is located in Japan

    Dragon Ball originated in Japan

Dragon Ball aired in the U.S. on Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network originally showed old Hannah Barbara cartoons

Between 1972 and 2005 Kings Island used Hannah Barbara characters

Outpost 5 was at Kings Island

    Son of Beast revival confirmed.

  4. The Beast isn't that rough. Sure it's not perfect, but it's not as bad as Blue Racer. Blue Racer has gotten rough in the last five years. Personally I wouldn't mind if GCI retracked the whole coaster, and gave it Millennium Flyers. (Though they'd have to be REALLY long Millennium Flyers.)

  5. It was AWESOME although the shed was a bit lackluster. I'd give it a 9/10. I loved how smooth and how intense it was. It was a really fun ride.

I think the ending would be better if right when The Bat/snake/tree monster showed up the room turned yellow, "Roundabout" by Yes started playing in the background and "To be continued" was displayed on the screen.

  6. When I rode Mystic Timbers on Passholder Preview Day, my friend noticed in the shed the radio played "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Taylor. I later saw Coaster Studios Mystic Timbers rider cam POV with Alec Reynolds and OhioColts and the people in the comments section pointed out that "Maneater" by Hall and Oates played. Links to songs below.

I'd like to ask does anyone else know the other songs that play on the shed radio.

I understand why they chose these songs as they're from the early 80's (which is strange because the truck out front is from the early 60's) when the Miami Valley Lumber Company was abandoned, but I question there use since it doesn't fit in well with the sheds dark and menacing atmosphere. Don't get me wrong I love Mystic Timbers, but I question the music they chose at the end. Below is a song from 1979 that in my opinion at least would have fit the overall atmosphere better.

Do you agree with me? Do you disagree with me? Do you think there is an even more menacing song from the late 70's early 80's that you think is better.

  7. California's Great America: Demon

    Canada's Wonderland: Vortex

    Carowinds: Fury 325

Cedar Point: Maverick, Rougarou, Wicked Twister

    Dorney Park: Hydra the Revenge

Kings Dominion: Volcano the Blast Coaster, Rebel Yell

Kings Island: Diamondback, The Beast, Banshee

Knott's Berry Farm: Ghost Rider, Montezooma's Revenge, Xcelerator

    Michigan's Adventure: Zach's Zoomer

    Valleyfair: Excalibur

    Worlds of Fun: Prowler

  8. Even if Mystic Timbers is better than The Beast, what won't change is how important The Beast was to wooden roller. The Beast was a very avant-garde roller coaster in it's time and still is. If it weren't for The Beast a lot of modern wooden roller coasters we love to ride. However historical significance doesn't make a ride great. We won't find out how good it is until opening day.

  9. I don't think KI really got the short stick compared to KD. I hear Dominator has a terrible rattle in its last half and is one of the weaker Floorless Coasters from B&M. On the flip side, Firehawk is a Flying Dutchman by Vekoma which is considered one of Vekoma's better models, and both have rather mixed reviews from Coaster Enthuists, but then again the GP may like Dominator better than Firehawk.

  10. I thought this would be comparing KI and KD

I've never been to KD, but I have seen videos and heard different peoples opinions so I could get an idea of what it was like

KI overall has better roller coasters (Outside I305, Volcano, and Rebel Yell, KD doesn't have too much to offer outside its top 3 other than Grizzly, and Flight of Fear. KI on the other hand outside of their top 3 still has The Bat, Firehawk, The Racer, and Flight of Fear)

KD has better flat rides outside Planet Snoopy (Or at least KD has more flat rides so there's more choice when it comes to KD)

Though KD has more rides in their Planet Snoopy it seems KI might have more quality over quantity as KI's Planet Snoopy always wins the Golden Ticket Award for Best Kids Area (Honestly I think it could go either way as I'm not really an expert on what makes a kids area great. They both seem pretty good)

Water Parks are about the same when it comes to quality (Haven't seen too much footage of KD's water park so I can't say for sure)

KD is better looking than KI (Especially after KD's 40th Anniversary Birthday they've really done well to make it look absolutley gorgeaus while KI has the look of a typical Cedar Fair park. Which isn't bad, but KD is just above average compared to the looks of other Cedar Fair parks)

I've been leaning towards Backlot's departure recently.  I think it's capacity will start to drag more and more on the park as it can attain more capacity with added rides.  I think eventually they'll start to wane on keeping up on the special effects, at least if we use Boo Blasters as a current example.  That's a ride that can't afford to lose any sort of charm it has on the public.  There's so much you could put in that spot as well, like a flat package with a wild mouse coaster on top.  I think Backlot holds that area back. I can see it being a very vibrant part of the park given some TLC, especially with how centered that area is on the park map.

If they got rid of Backlot and brought back the antique car ride I wouldn't be complaining. I've missed the antique cars ever since they closed in 2004.
