Has anybody from here ever been? Says it's geared more towards families than Fort Rapids was. I have passed it many times but never stopped by.

It really is too bad, and a waste of a good name and theme for a water park. From the outside you can't really tell what a mess it apparently is and was inside.

I can vouch for what Malem said. I got a nice PM saying I had a post removed and an explanation why yesterday. After re-reading my post I realized how it sounded nothing like what I intended it to. Always good to double check your words before hitting that post button, as words in text don't always come out how they sound in your head. Thanks for all your hard work mods, your work is definitely appreciated in keeping this a well run, friendly community. Keep up the good work!

After MT I could see track work being done on The Racer. The perception will be that it is rougher than before even though the ride experience will be the same. The common rider will be comparing it to MT. Plus, thinking back The Racer is about the only ride that has not had some sort of major work done to it (visually) since CF took over. Even some of the flat rides in CM have gotten painted and LED packages.

I was happy to get to the park, even if It was just for 2 visits. it was definitely still memorable because I got to see the joy on the faces of my kids as they rode and experienced the park for their first visits. A few years ago if you had told me that the only coasters I would ride all year were Great Pumpkin a few times and Banshee one time, I would have thought it was not a good year. But my gosh are those kids' smiles amazing. My year was memorable because my kids' year was memorable.

After getting babysitting coverage for the two younger children they were dropped off at Grandma's on Saturday evening so electricsun, my son Korbin, and myself could get one last visit for the season at KI. The season can not start or end without breakfast at Frisch's with some other KIC members.

We arrived at Frisch's at 9AM and meet up with 7 other KIC'ers. After an awesome breakfast we headed towards the park at 10 AM where the gate was already backed up. We got in and were waiting to get in the park for one last time this season.

electricsun, Korbin, and myself in front of the Mystic Timbers tree.

Here is a look at your two new moderators.. Malem and IndyGuy4KI.

Several KIc'ers still had not used their FastPass for renewal, including us. So we got our FastPasses and were off towards Banshee ERT. We then hit Delirium. After that the park was open to the GP, so we dropped by Drop Tower. After that we decided to hit up Flight of Fear before it got busy. Had a great ride on it.

Several KIC'ers were together and we decided to ride Dodgems. We had a fun ride on that as well. After a flat ride we were ready for a big ride, so where did we head? Diamondback of course! We meet up with Beatie1980 and her mom. Here is Beastie1980.

Then it was off to The Beast! Fastlane was getting busy at this point. A little bit of a wait. We had fun enjoying each other's company in line though!

We then decided to grab a bite to eat at Potato Works! Malem decided to ride the train with Staushua123 and check out Mystic Timbers. The new coaster is the other direction Josh!

After we finished we (electricsun, Korbin, and myself) took a train ride to do the same. Here are my photo updates.

Afterwards we had the KIC Meetup in front of the Mystic Timbers fence.

We then had a large group for a Bat train takeover.

We then decided to do the same thing at The Racer, but we lost some of our group.

We then rode Adventure Express and the Carousel! We put our name in at Reds for a KIC dinner, but there was a wait so we hit up BBOBH for a ride. We then meet several KIC'ers at Reds for dinner. Luckily the rain hit while we ate. When we were done we decided to hit up DB for one more ride.

Got a great shot of the tower lit up in the queue for DB.

After the DB ride is was cool and getting to be about 6:15. We needed to get back to Indy for Korbin had school and the other two kids needed picked up as well.

All in all we had a great closing day for 2016! Can't wait for Mystic Timbers in 2017!

You hit the nail on the head!

There's too much unpredictability but Boo Blasters has a lot rallying against it. I'd bet money that the ride will re-open next season in exactly as bad a shape as it's in at the end of this season. There's been no noticeable attempt since its opening to repair the broken guns, unresponsive targets, faltering music, or key special effects. The upkeep (or lack thereof!) tells me a lot about its priority in the park's lineup.

No one would be happier than me to see Kings Island have a really good dark ride. Boo Blasters – even if it were radically repaired to optimal conditions this winter – would not be a really good dark ride.

Given the new push for 21st century dark rides at the parks, Boo Blasters is liable to get left behind. A thoughtful, gun-free transformation into a Peanuts dark ride through the seasons would be the simplest scenario. It's what I'm rooting for, too!

From what I understand of where the shed will be, they haven't started on the footings there yet.

This is along the beginning of the train route looking back toward the turntable. I noticed you can actually see clear through at this point. That's the building beside the turntable you can see in the middle of the shot. This view is a little before that temporary gravel road they made across WWC's trough.

They've done even more clearing of the hill that runs alongside the KI&MVRR train shed

Including what I believe is the rough path where Mr. T will switch back

More new concrete has been poured in the main work area, linking up with the ones I showed last week leading up to the reservoir
Unless that is around where the shed will be, now I think of it? So, yes, individuals rather than a slab, it looks like.

Wanderer reacted to SonofBaconator in Why Walt Disney World didn't go for Crown Metal
For those of you who don't know, the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World has 4 live steam locomotives that were all built by the Baldwin Locomotives works based out of Pennsylvania.

When planning the Magic Kingdom Imangineer Roger Broggie discovered 5 narrow gauge steam locomotives down in Mexico ready to be scrapped. The company bought all five and took them to Tampa for restoration, (it should be noted that one of the locomotives was beyond repair and was thus not restored.)

That being said, the other 4 locomotives were finished in time for the grand opening of the Magic Kingdom in 1971. I have seen endless videos and read tons of articles saying that Roger Broggie and fellow imagineers searched the whole continent for steam locomotives and were unsuccessful, for the most part, in doing so. Now after 45 years I thought of something I've never thought of before- why didn't Disney hire Crown Metal Products locomotive company to design their railroad? Though larger in length and size, the WDWRR's steam locomotives run on a narrow gauge line just like Kings Island.

All I know for sure is that Roger Broggie wanted to have the locomotives designed to his specification so he hired a steam ship manager, go figure! He said, "If I hire a railroad worker they'll make them how they want to make them, I want them made my way." But still, I feel like Crown would have been very flexible in working with Disney Imagineers.

My only solid theory is that Disney wanted to find original steam locomotives that were already existing.

    What do you think?

Though I'm a coaster critic, I also know a great deal about steam locomotives as well.

Bring the boats back and give the theming to Peanuts. It would be perfect to the current theming. Get rid of the clown maze. You could do the different seasonal Peanuts specials. Would be awesome. Or just do a Great Pumpkin dark ride. I'd be beside myself.
I couldn't imagine a bigger treat than Vince Guaraldi's Great Pumpkin soundtrack while riding through a Great Pumpkin dark ride. I'd die. I love them both so much.

Something else I forgot to mention. It looked like something was going on in the old funnel cake area, from Diamondback. That is noteworthy, because there has been pretty much no alteration of the area that I've seen, ever since the park opened this season.
From the train I could see they had moved a piece of heavy equipment over there and were using the area to store a few small trees or large branches. Because they've finished pouring the footings that approach the tracks from the opposite side (they're "birthday cakes" on top of the covered over concreted trenches now - sorry I didn't get pics of the specific area, but if you've followed my and others' construction pics, you should recognize what I mean) I suspect next week will continue with trenching and concrete pouring in the old funnel cake stand footprint. Unless they decide to leave off there and head around nearer the WWC area.
There was also a new vertical concrete area in the middle of the main clearing behind the train station. It looks like walls and is located where a rectangular pad of concrete had been poured last week, within the path of the developing coaster. I couldn't get pics of the pad from the ground (could see it from DB) so I forgot to mention it. I have a crappy pic of the vertical area, I'll see if I can crop it to where it makes any sense, if not I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow from the train or train station.

That's it in the center of the pic, with cakes leading all up to it on the right. Taken from the train just before going over the trestle.
