  1. Awesome thread KIghostguy........although we may be a few months early. Kudos! Post it wherever you want.
  2. Experienced? You can't just leave us hanging
  3. There is just as creepy story as tower Johnny that supposedly occurred back at one of the WWC towers. This is from a girl that worked at KI. She kept hearing stones bounce off the side of her tower after closing time. I can only imagine how dark it is way back there. I guess after she finally got the courage to look out and see if somebody was messing with her, she actually saw a large rock lift off the ground and slam against the tower. This was told by the worker herself. She was posting on a forum. Anybody heard about that one? I also remember reading about maintenance workers who sometiimes had to walk to the front of the park by themselves(if they didn't catch a ride) after dark and totally got a case of the heebie jeebies. I did research about all these ghost stories a couple years ago, but I don't remember all the sites I was on. I found most of the same stories and photos as the original poster.
  4. Excuse me for being naive as it's been a long time since I've visited KI, but I just noticed that the Timberwolf theater is still there. Two questions: 1. Do they actually still use that thing very much? 2. If they tore it down, does that create enough room in that corner of the park to put a giga coaster there? It would be a great spot for a giga as it would be extremely visible coming into the park.
  5. I go to Carowinds a lot. Intimidator is good but not as forceful as Diamondback. I love Fury 325. Fury is #2 steel coaster in my list. MF is #17. One of the biggest issue at Carowinds is the service there. I actually find them somewhat poor unlike KI or CP. I actually complained to CF last year due to some of the employees being rude. MF #17? lol.....don't think I've ever seen it that low on somebody's list. I think the first hill and the water scenery alone puts it ahead of most coasters.
  6. I have a story to tell someday about the sky ride at SFSTL when I was a kid. Bad, bad story. I hope you wasn't there. The skyride accident there is often listed among the top 5 or 10 worst theme park accidents.
  7. Can they get a skyride off of somebody? Six Flags, Busch Gardens, Cedar Point all have them. KI needs them back. EDIT: After doing a quick google search, I wonder what made skyrides so dangerous back in the late 70's? There were at least 3 separate incidents in which people fell to their death after the cars dropped off the line. 5 total deaths. Obviously, the concern is not there today. I always found the skyrides even scarier than the big coasters and such. You are riding probably 100 feet up on a little cable and a small wheel assembly or something. If something malfunctions, there are no anti rollback devices:)
  8. Too bad they can't get Madonna on the ticket. haha She is probably the greatest gay/lesbian community icon and the park would be packed. Trust me, I went to one of her shows in Chicago. Anyhoo, this event is a great idea and I hope it is a complete success. Kudos KI!
  9. (I woke up on the wrong side of the bed), so I wish KI would just go ahead and (spill the beans) because( I'm no spring chicken). I want to know about this before I (kick the bucket). Don't continue to (rub me the wrong way). Announce this thing and I'll be (pleased as punch). As (a rule of thumb), most parks( go the whole nine yards) to keep their patrons informed. What's the matter KI.....(cat got your tongue?). KI already has more great coasters than you can (shake a stick at). Another great woody would be (icing on the cake). Announce it already and (put this thing to bed).
  10. At the end of the day....... you're preachin to the choir......
  11. You don't understand "icing on the cake"? Cake is really good by itself, but with icing it becomes great. This can apply to anything where a person is happy with what they have or their circumstances, but a small addition or change could push it to another level. Something good on top of something else that is good....
  12. ^^^^^ I thought they were just referring to the green train in the picture. That and the fact that it's not easy being "green" with all the trees they are cutting down. You know.....trees are green:)
  13. Upstop's report of falling trees seems to tie into this layout maybe being correct. The coaster track would go right over top of WWC near the train house.(where upstop said trees were falling) If the image in that picture was kept in the same configuration and dragged up until the turn around was directly behind the WWC turn around, I think we have the plan/park layout. The station would then be in the former funnel cake location and the first drop would be in the major clearing. Btw, couldn't get a good picture from the train or tower but you can see the clearing of trees down to the lake to where it will be assumed to cross. Also I tried to take a picture of the pilings/ wall from across the pond. The base that you see from the train appears to be pretty close to level with the train track. From across the pond you can see that is 4 to 5 feet lower than the train track. If it is a retaining wall, which I believe it is, and it's leveled with dirt to be even with the train track, only about 3 feet of the tops of the pilings will be visible, imo. I agree with your station placement, but the thing is none of us know the scale of these blueprints. Meaning we don't know Exactly how far back into the woods this will go by the train house. This is good news and the first I've heard anybody say there is clearing beside the lake.(not talking about beside the train tracks) You are talking about the middle section of the lake correct?
  14. No this was over by the Scooby Doo/ Beastie roller coaster in the kids section. Concrete circle? Not sure. Maybe the 180 degree theater that used to be there. Haven't been to the park in a long time so I'm guessing.
  15. I disagree. It is missing something. A coaster that intimidates people just from sheer height. Call it a giga if you want. Diamondback is thrilling, but not all out scary like a lot of the new coasters out there. That extra hundred and something feet makes a huge difference. Diamondback is probably intimidating to a lot of people. 230' might not be nerve-wracking to you, but to someone else, even 148' could be frightening.I think a giga would push Kings Island's lineup over-the-top in terms of quality, but I still stand by my comment. The park has one of the most well-rounded coaster collections in the country. We'll agree to agree. A giga would be icing on the cake, but KI coaster collection is awesome.

  17. If they were going to do a sleigh coaster, I think it would be much more effective as an indoor coaster. You could have all kinds of winter scenes throughout the ride and probably even lighting effects that could look like snow coming down. Has anybody done this yet? If not, I am really surprised.
  18. I think it is just talking about the KI Cancer Coasterthon. Chicken Runs At Midnight is a song inspired by a cancer stricken girl and KI's fundraising for cancer ends August 8 at midnight.
  19. If I had a season pass, I wouldn't mind watching movies at KI. If I am a once a year person, no way am I spending a couple hours on movies I can see at home. Time is precious.
  20. "Sometimes, dead is better." -Me, quoting a different film where things that died were also brought back. Pet Sematary? Love that movie.

  22. A wood coaster going over the water(and through the woods) and interacting with the train, WWC, and even Diamondback to an extent. Sounds like a heck of a plan. Is this a good thing for WWC? Does it disturb the peacefulness of a wooded canyon raft or will it add to the excitement of that ride?
  23. Somebody told me somewhere around 360 ft or so. I won't believe anything unless KI management confirms it.
