  1. Hmm. Interesting I have not noticed that the Octoberfest sign was gone. Yes, they remove the Coney Mall sign so that the floats can go through. Last year, you could see the sign back by the maintenance buildings at the front of the park (by The Beastie) when you were up in the Eiffel Tower.
  2. Ok. Details about this new game would be nice. Like is it the Eurobungee that they reinstalled this season or something else by the actual old laser tag building?
  3. Aren`t the times on IJST for a forty five minute time frame? I seem to recall that they were. I know the other walk on weekend attractions have an hour time frame, but I seem to recall the time for IJST was shorter by fifteen minutes. Yes, the last couple of times I have ridden IJST, I have had a speedlane ticket. I only waited about five to ten minutes, and bypassed a good hour to hour and a half line!
  4. Face it, Six Flags is an amusement park operator. They may not be the best, but they still operate parks, and are installing new rides for the general public to enjoy. People who live by the Six Flags Parks, are generally happy that they are there. It gives them a chance to visit an amusement park nearby their home. Some may think that their park is good. I have only visited one Six Flags park (when it was know as Six Flags) and that was Worlds of Adventure. I had a blast I was there. I was slightly mad that two of their less major coaster were closed because of maintenance, but I had a fun time, and would consider going back. The fact that lines were not long was a plus. The longest lines could have been alleviated if they had multiple trains on some of the coaster but I had fun. It is all relative. Some people may hate PKI or Paramount Parks and love Six Flags. It is all a matter of opinion. Yes, the management at Six Flags is somewhat lacking, and the chain is in massive debt, but they are still attracting people to their parks. Afterall, Six Flags offers competition to Paramount, which provides Paramount incentive to keep adding to their parks too!
  5. PKI has carved itslef a nice niche in the industry. They are bringing in families with kids, as well as the thrill seekers. The real reason why PKI has gone family friendly the past couple of years is that the families are the ones that will spend more money in the park. Afterall, PKI is a business that depends on people speniding money both to get in, and on merchandise, games and food. I agree that IJ is a great family coaster, with some nice theming. I wish they would have installed it in another area, because the center of the park is just not the same withouth all the trees there. I still find it wierd being able to see across the center of the park like that. As far as expansions, yes Son of Beast was one of the last true expansions to the main ride park. But don`t forget that last year, they removed one set of slides from the water park, replaced them with four new ones (Coolangatta Racers) and opened Tasmanian Typhoon, Jackeroo Landing, and Kookebura Bay. The main reason PKI expanded the water park is because the increasing popularity of water parks across the country. I do not necessarily believe that PKI needs to have a hyper coaster. I do agree that a quality, smooth steel coaster from B&M or Intamin could be very successul at PKI. But that is not the direction in which they are headed. Sure, PKI will continue to add more roller costers in the future. They will just be more similar to IJST instead of Millenium Force. PKi has to be doing something right to continually rank among the top for seasonal theme park attendance. As has been said, PKI does extensive research before they install new rides. Part of which they do throught their online surveys. The opinions that are expressed on this website as was mentioned demonstrates a very limited scope of PKI`s demographic. Just imagine if you had children and were given the option to go to PKI or Cedar Point. Which one would you choose? I would imagine that most families would choose PKI because the amount of rides they have available for children. That is enough from me for now.
  6. This year, they are only playing Spongebob Squarepants 3D. Last year they ran Days of Thunder on the other side for a very brief period, and apparantly the quality was pretty bad, so they pulled it ot too long after it reopened. During FearFest, they have used the non-3D side for either Elvira`s Superstition, or last year they had Dracula`s Castle. The coolest thing about last year`s FearFest, is they actually had some of the Phantom Theater animatronics working in the line for Dracula`s Haunted Castle. But that is far more than what you wanted to know.
  7. Well, as far as I know, it has always been painted. When it rist opened it was painted yellow. Then at some point they painted it light blue. Then when they redid Hanna Barbera Land in 1998, they repainted it to its current purple color.
  8. Again, this is nothing new. There was alos a 360 taken from over by The Beast`s Exit too, not sure if it is on that site or not.
  9. I would think that PKI and Paramount would want to add a Spongebob ride to their Nick Central area. Spongebob (along with the Rugrats) is one of the more popular Nick toons. They already have a themed ride to Rugrats, and the Thornberrys. Yes, they do have Spongebob 3D in the Action Theater, which is a good ride, but I think an actual ride themed to Spongebob would be quite popular with kids, much like Scooby Doo is popular with kids. Only time will tell what PKI decides to install for next season.
  10. No PKI, will probably ever install a hyper coaster, because it focuses more on the teenage and thrill seeker crowd. But stranger things have happened. I personally don`t think we will see any hypers either. I think IJST and rides of that genre are the way PKI is heading. Just look at the additions since 2003.
  11. I doubt they will expand rapidly. It will probably be more like a slow consistent growth that we have seen the last couple of seasons. Taking out a couple of rides and adding new ones with only a net gain of one or two more rides. Just a personal opinion PKIBoy, but in the future you might want to include a link/the name and date of the publication in which the article appeared.
  12. That article is a couple years old. I remember reading it a while ago. I think it was written in 2001 or 2000, if my memory serves me right. Jennifer Bowers does not predate Jeff Siebert. I know she was with the park in late 2000 because I remember seeing her on Channel 19 doing a story on the partially dismanteled Kings Mills Log Flume, which was in the process of being transformed to Wild Thornberrys River Adventure. I`m fairly certain she left around the end of the 2000 season. Not sure when though.
  13. The Tornado is also a reproduction built by Ralph Stricker. The Teddy Bear is a replica of the one that used to reside at Cincinnati`s Coney Island. The Schwabinchen, as I understand it, will not be ready until 2006, becuase they are refurbishing it before they install it in the park. I used to go to Stricker`s every year, because my Dad`s plant picnic was there. After P&G outsourced most of Ivorydale a couple years ago, I no longer made it out there. This year, though, his union is having a picnic at Coney Island, which is another great park. Stricker`s is a wonderful small park, buried amongt the corn fields in northwestern Hamilton County. The Tornado has some of the most wicked air time on a wooden coaster, that I have ever felt! That is one ride where I was thankful I had a seatbelt on!
  14. That is an interesting opinion. After I read the article, I took it to mean that they would focus less on the superlatives, and more on fun exctiing rides, such as what IJST has turned out to be. IJST apparantly cost more than $10 million. But, that is still less than the $17 million they approximately spent on Son of Beast, but look how that ride turned out. I think that PKI will expand some in years to come, because new rides do bring in more people. But there will also be more removing of older less popular ride and replacement with new rides, which will help keep people coming back. The one thing the article didn`t mention which you did Captain Picard, is the Speedlane tickets. While they have started spreadin them out, so people stay longer, it also allows the passholders to spend less time in line for the rides. In turn, they can spend more time in the shops and the restaurants.
  15. Well, I think that some sort of Nick oriented car ride is on its way. Why else would PKI still be holding onto the Antique Cars? They are currently parked over next to Delirium, on the old queue line pad for King Cobra.
  16. Most of the recent additions at PKI are not wastes of space. IJST is a very fun family coaster, and has theming that is uncommon for seasonal theme parks. While the theming is no where near Disney or Universal, it is nice to see a ride with this amount of theming. IMO, all the rides the park has added since 2003 have been winners, and seem to be really popular with the GP.
  17. It wouldn`t cost that much to make a racing Face Off? Unless I am missing something to make Face Off a racing coaster, they would have had to buy another coaster, effectively doubling the cost. And Face Off cost about $10 million (Drop Zone also cost around that much if I remember correctly.) Personally, I would much rather they bought Drop Zone (like they did) then invest it in another Face Off just for the sake of capacity.
  18. I have to go with The Beast with the ACE walkback. Nothing like grabbing an early ride on The Beast. I have a gold pass, so I can grab an IJST Speed lane ticket before the ACE walkback, and normally walk on with the ticket before 10:45.
  19. LOL, that was pretty good ZosoBeast! It will open when it is ready to be opened. I`m sure the park is ready to have it opened, to increase the overall park capacity, and to allow people to ride one of the more popular flats in the park. I`m sure that they are doing everything possible to open it as quickly as they can.
  20. There really is not a lot of room behind Atom Ant Airways. Right on the other side of the fence is the path that goes in front of Reptar. Now there is a lot of space over by the Slime Maze and Nick Theater that could be used for future ride(s). I think whatever happens next year, that there will be more than one area that will receive some attention, and I am not refering to just HB and NC.
  21. Shman, did you read my above post? That was one of the main points of my post. Several of those ride names could fit quite well with existing HBL attractions. Albeit, they will need more names than just those llisted to cover all the existing HBL attractions sans Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle.

    Slingshot

I know that PKI`s Skyflyer has been running deals for most of this year, and I believe last year, for flights at $10 a person. Also, Slingshot has been having specials, on some days, for Flights of $15 or $20, which is still a lot, but better than $25 a person.
  23. I noticed one strange thing over on Screamscape with regards to those names for Nick Central rides. From Scream Scape: "Tommy’s Take Off, Dora’s Railway, Backyardigans Swing-A-Long, Hey Arnold Taxi Chase, Lazytown Sporticopters, NickToons TV Road Trip" Tommy`s Take Off, could very well be the new name for Dick Dastardly`s BiPlanes or Atom Ant Airways or even Yogi`s Sky Tours. Dora`s Railway could be the new name for Quick Draw`s Railway or Baba Looey`s Buggies. Backyardigans Swing-A-Long would be the new logical name for Pixie and Dixie`s Swing set. Hey Arnold Taxi Chase would be the new name for Top Cat`s Taxi Jam. Lazytown Sporticopters could be the new name for Jetson`s Jet Orbiters. The last name, NickToon`s TV Road Trip could be the new name for Fender Bender 500, or Huck`s Hot Rods. Or it could be the name of the new, relocated Antique Cars. Clearly, some of those names would fit nicely with some of the current HB rides. Hopefully, too many rides in HB are not sacrificed. It would be ashame for PKI to rip out rides from this area, espcially if they are hoping to retain their golden Ticket award. I can see them removing the Nick Theater as it has been used less and less over the past couple of years, and the Crystal Slime Mine Maze just doesn`t seem like a very popular attraction for the dry side of the park. It would be better suited in BB. That could be a nice area for future rides, and would help bridge the gap between the newer Nick Central area of Reptar with the older section of HBL.
  24. Yes, the Round Up at Coney is one of those stand up rides. It "seats" 42 people at a time, and is a real capacity eater. The new Round Up ride that Holiday World installed this year, is smaller than Coney`s, seating only 33 people I believe. I have never ridden the one at Coney, but plan on doing so in July when I return to Coney as a guest at my dad`s company picnic there. It will be strange being there as a guest and not an employee. Off topic, but Coney opened their new Sream Machine on Saturday. Back on topic, I was at PKI on Sunday, and it did not appear as if they were working on anything on Delirium, when I rode Drop Zone shortly after 12. In fact, everything looked unhanged from my visit on Saturday.
  25. And I know for a fact that on the fine print on the back of the Gold Pass, it states something along the lines of: Holder assumes all risk of personal injury.
