1. I still remember my first time meeting Don, I think. It would have been back in 2008. I was so interested in the Royal Fountains and I had so many questions about them. I remember my dad going into guest services to see if there was anyone who I could talk to. I’m pretty sure it was Don who came out and talked to me and answered all my questions. I think they may have even wrote out a fact sheet for me, which ended up getting lost, wish I still had it.

After that, I would usually see him walking out and about in the park every time I visited. I started attending Coasterstock in 2017, and have attended every one since then. He always did a phenomenal job with planning and organizing such a great event! He’s truly an icon to Kings Island and the amusement park industry. I know he will be truly missed, and hope for the best for him in whatever he decides to do.

2. I went this year and let me say, there were easily well over 1,000 attendees. Both shelters in their picnic grove were completely full of enthusiasts. Its not really ERT when you have to wait almost an hour just to ride Voyage. While I don’t necessarily agree with the lottery system they are using, I do agree that they need to cap attendance to make the event more enjoyable.

3. I plan on being there along with several other members! A word of advice if you’ve never gone and want to buy a ticket. They sell out VERY FAST. When I say fast, I mean usually less than an hour after they go on sale. So if you really want to go, make sure you are in front of a computer screen at exactly 12:00pm next Tuesday.

4. I really miss the old fountains! Before last year, I was saying to myself that they needed to be renovated. Now I’m regretting saying that. The old fountains just felt so much more magical to me. Fountain ERT will just never be the same again.

5. I know it’ll never return, but I still miss the I-Street playlist from the Paramount era. Nothing they play now would ever come close to that. I just felt like all those movie themes went very well with the fountains.

6. King Ding Dong, I've never heard of COCC.  Is it new?  It will probably not even get included with Coasterstock!

I think he meant to say GOCC which stands for Great Ohio Coaster Club. It’s another coaster club you can join. I used to have a membership, however I never did any of their events. The only reason I had it was to be able to attend Coasterstock and Holiwood Nights. They’ve allowed members of GOCC to attend Coasterstock every year since it started in 2015.

7. I might be in the minority, but I like the new gift boxes better than the pedestals on Snow Flake Lake. What are your thoughts?

I definitely liked having the pedestals better. Still kinda miss the old fountain. Fountain ERT will never be the same for me again.

8. I’ve stayed at the Magnuson Hotel near the intersection of Route 250 and 2 a few times. It’s nothing fancy but the rooms are cheap, clean and the beds are comfortable. And the water pressure for taking showers is amazing lol.

9. Cedar Point is usually very busy pretty much every day from July 4th through the second week in August. After that, attendance drops off significantly since kids start going back to school. So if you really want lighter crowds, I’d recommend waiting until the 3rd full week of August. Only downfall to that is the park starts 8pm closes during the week.

10. KI doesn’t need the Pre K pass IMO. Planet Snoopy is already always busy so it wouldn’t make sense business wise. It would probably be twice as busy as it is now. Yes Cedar Point has pre K pass however whenever I’m there the kiddie areas are almost never busy.

11. Here is last year. We need to page pianoman to know for certain how many pedestals were removed.
I think I will miss the decorations in the center if they don't add them another way this season at WF.

Last year during Winterfest, the 2 pedestals closest to the bandstand were removed. The other 4 were left in place for the ice rink. I’m kinda curious as to what the park did with them. I’m assuming they just tore them apart and threw them in the trash.

12. I have to say that I’m very happy with the new fountain set up. It was definitely in need of an upgrade so I’m glad it was finally done. I am very well aware that they are not complete with the fountain yet and was told that the big fountain shows would debut Memorial Day weekend. So I’m gonna wait until then to decide just how much I like it.

13. Yes panda express is back to 2 entrées. However, I was told that they will not have chow mein this year. So your options for sides are either fried rice or steamed white rice. It also appears that they had some new items on the menu.

14. Let's see if panda holds the line on the 1 entree (vs 2)... Recall they tried Rio nice to this last year and it reverted back to 2.

It's a nice option, but if it's 1 I'll probably never get it.

Yeah wouldn’t surprise me a bit if they go back to 2 entrees. That didn’t sit well with guests last time they tried it.

15. My thoughts on it are that it’s one heck of a coaster! The hangtime is out of this world and really adds to the experience. This was my first coaster with a jo jo roll out of the station which I thoroughly enjoyed. The barn before the first launch is cool but you have to ride several times to see everything. There’s also a lot of really cool theming in the queue line so make sure you pay attention to it.

Honestly this is probably my new favorite coaster at the park. It’s definitely up there with Fury as far as best coasters I’ve been on. As far as night rides go, it’s definitely the best night ride in the park IMO. As far as comparing it to Maverick, yes they are both launch coasters but I’d say Maverick is definitely more intense. The launches on CS are not as intense as Mavericks but it’s still a lot of fun. If you have the chance to go to Carowinds this year, I would highly recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys a good thrill.
