  1. Rode it for my first and second time today. My first ride was in the middle of the train and although I enjoyed the first drop, I was a little disappointed with the rest of the layout. It wasn’t very forceful and I didn’t feel much airtime either. Now this was my first B&M giga, so I wasn’t sure what to think about the ride going into it. I think a lot of my disappointment may have been me setting too high of a “standard” for what I was expecting. Now my second ride was in the very back and it was a totally different experience! Much more airtime and the first drop was absolutely amazing! This will definitely be my preferred place to ride. Overall I think I still prefer Diamondback over Orion, but I’d really like to go try out Leviathan and Fury 325 to see how Orion compares before I make my final assessment of the ride. But for only having to wait about 20 mins for both rides it was definitely worth the wait, not sure if I’d want to wait over an hour for it though.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I booked for July 19th. Wish I could get to the park sooner but I'll be out of town. I ended up buying a platinum pass this year as I hope that I can get some trips into Cedar Point as well. Are you still able to get a physical copy of the pass or are they doing everything through the app now?
  3. Very sad indeed, for Scene75 and Dayton/Celina as a whole. We were lucky to have our house spared, but the entire neighborhood behind me was almost wiped out entirely and there are a lot of families left without homes. Sorry to hear about your job Codyfryguy, I wish the best for everyone as we move forward during these difficult times.
  4. Very interesting! I always love seeing all the parks we used to have around here. My hometown (Dayton) has had it fair share of parks as well! This one reminds me a lot of Lakeside Amusement Park, which used to be where the 35 connector runs now through the west side of Dayton. Very cool!
  5. I definitely will not miss it. I always felt like it looked extremely out of place in its location. Almost like Six Flags’ parking lot coasters. I did enjoy my first couple of rides on it, but after that I couldn’t justify the wait times.
  6. I discovered a newfound love for Vortex after riding in the front row today. I usually just ride towards the back because the lines are shorter, but I decided to wait for the front row and I was definitely not disappointed. Also "Vortex 1987" spelled out in the rocks to the right of the final brake run is a really cool touch!
  7. I love how fast-paced and tight MT is as opposed to The Beast's rather drawn out turns. That being said, I also love the originality and the placement of The Beast throughout the woods. I really do think it's a sin to say which one is "better" based on a set guidelines, as both rides are very different. I feel that these two coasters compliment each other more than anything.
  8. The crowds were definitely awful today! Most of the major attractions had very minimal waits until around 5-6:00, when even The Racer was spilling out into the midway. We never waited more than an hour for The Beast and Diamondback, however the line for MT was so long that they had to separate it into sections so the sidewalks wouldn't get blocked. They also were using the queues in Crypt's old building. Even most of the food stands had a 20-30 min wait. It was good to see MT getting a lot of attention though!
  9. Amazing ride! I was lucky enough to get on as soon as the park opened and avoid the long wait. Having never ridden a GCI before MT I don't have a lot to compare it to, however it was by far one of my favorite wooden coasters to date. It was non-stop until the end. I am definitely looking forward to riding some more GCIs in the future!
  10. I won't be able to make it on opening day, so I am also planning to go on Easter.
  11. I actually just applied last night for ride operations and did the phone interview today. I have my in person interview in a couple of weeks. I'm definitely looking forward to it, because this tuition isn't paying itself haha!
  12. I'd have to go with Flight of Fear. But it's been a few years since I've rode it, so things may have changed. I always thought the wait felt much shorter because there were more props and that corny video looping in the background that helped divert my attention away from the actual line.
  13. I definitely regret deciding to not renew my gold pass after the 2012 season and falling away from the roller coaster scene for a while. Nothing surprised me more than when I got on YouTube a few months ago and found out that Colossus had been given the RMC treatment (yes I was extremely out of the loop haha). I also regret not getting more park maps during my visits to the park because I now have some large gaps throughout my collection.
  14. I am a huge Arrow enthusiast, so it always pains me to see or hear of rumors regarding any of their classics being removed. That being said I have always preferred their smaller corkscrew models over their multi-loopers. I still love Vortex, but I'd be much more distraught over the removal of a coaster like Corkscrew at Cedar Point. However like others have stated, if Vortex were to be removed I'd expect something just as groundbreaking (pun intended) as Vortex was when it was introduced.
  15. I am really looking forward to this season! I caved in and bought a gold pass this year for the first time since 2012. I am definitely going to be visiting the park a lot on the weekdays and hope to meet some fellow enthusiasts!
