  1. What's in the prop building?
  2. Lightning Rod is a great case study for this topic. To me, there is no definitive way to calculate height. If you measure the altitude displacement from: 1. base of lift hill to the apex then Lightning Rod would be shorter because you lose the 30ish feet of steps you climb to board the train. 2. station to the apex then Lightning Rod would be shorter for the same reason as above. Adventure Express would be about the same height as the pumpkin coaster using this method. 3. apex to ground directly underneath then Lightning Rod would be shorter because of the hill it sits on. 4. apex to bottom of drop then coasters with predrops wouldnt be fairly measured. Height is subjective in this context. There isnt a standard way to measure that would fairly represent every ride. There are coasters in every category that are outliers where the height wouldnt tell you the full story. I think drop height is the most useful for all intents and purposes but it has limitations too. Besides, the best part about coasters (imo) are the speed, inversions, forces and other elements they enact on you. I've never seen anyone screaming or jubilant while flying on a plane or standing on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.
  3. Thanks buddy, sounds exhilerating!
  4. I dont understand the underwhelmed comments. This is going to be one of, if not THE, best roller coasters in the world. Has Cedar Fair added a bad or underwhelming roller coaster to KI since they've owned it? No. And this will be the best yet!
  5. Are you able to tell overbanks on these renderings? Does it seem similar to the no limits prediction? I need a 100% to scale POV by the time I get off work! In the mean time can someone list the elements in order to hold me over?
  6. Dont forget the pumpkin coaster! In all seriousness I dont think the coasters orientation matters.
  7. I'd also love for the antique cars to return but I hope that wouldn't be the only addition. I can't imagine it would cost that much to install especially considering MT only cost around $10M from the estimates we heard. I miss the old Nickelodeon slime zone or whatever it was called and would love to see something similar added. I used to love playing there as a kid and now that I'm grown up it would be something fun for the kids to do on a hot summer day while the adults sit and relax for a bit. Other attractions I would like to see added are: A new indoor restaurant with a lot of seating- outside of the festhaus and Montgomery inn there really isn't anywhere to eat and cool off for a bit and these places become extremely crowded. Tilt-A-Whirl- probably my favorite carnival ride of all time, love the lateral g's and the feeling when ur car goes crazy for a few seconds. New show in the kiddie land ampitheater- instead of Parkys Farm I'd love for there to be an interactive show for the kids. After going to Dollywood a few weeks ago I realize how few shows we have and they can be just as fun as rides. Origins is awesome but the karaoke and dog shows are tired imo. Reinvention of the carnival games- Most of these games have been around forever and are quite stale. With so much new technology I'm sure they can come up with some better stuff than swinging a hammer, picking a duck out of a pond and throwing darts at balloons. Give me some candy crush, guess-who or trivia games. Finally, my pipe dream would be that we add an intense roller coaster. I know this isn't happening next year due to MT being new but I really hope our next roller coaster is one that is intimidating. After riding Lightning Rod, Valravn and TTD this summer I came to a realization that Kings Island doesn't have that one ride that scares me no matter how many times I ride it. The Beast would be the only thing close but it's so old and has been extremely rough (for me) in recent years. I've wanted a giga for as long as anyone but I'd put it off to have a ride like Lightning Rod 20 minutes from home. Hopefully Kings Island will knock both of these wishes off my list with their next coaster installment
  8. Saw my first origins show today and loved 2 of the new acts. I really miss the girl that spun all those hoola hoops last year, she was my favorite, but the balancing act on that cylinder/board is awesome. I also miss the guy that painted the upside down portraits :/ I think the hunchback creeper guys routine is rather boring.
  9. The only uncomfortable ride at the park for me is outer limits. Those seat belts have barely any slack and you have to get so far down to get into the seats without any legroom (unless you're I'm the very front).
  10. I really wish the shed had used animatronics instead of projection screens. I understand the theming is a huge step for Cedar Fair but it still leaves a lot to be desired. Even if they just had spinning axes or moving tree branches I would have been satisfied, but a quick animation on a screen looks and feels very cheap. This is a state of the art brand new coaster that was marketed to be highly themed but it falls very short in that department for me. Flight of Fear, Adventure Express and Italian Job all are much better themed (ik Paramount owned the park then but still, these rides are older and technology is so much better now). The actual ride is a grand slam though!
  11. Just got home from the park and got to experience MT. Waited about 2 hours to ride but it was well worth it, unlike the last ride I waited that long for, Valravn which was a major disappointment. The ride is fantastic and exceeded all of my expectations. It has incredible pacing, as others have noted, after the lift hill it is non stop thrills until the end. It reminds me soooooooooo much of Maverick (one of my top 3 coasters) with it's speed, change of direction and terrain-hugging. Definitely one of my favorite coasters I have ever ridden.
