  1. I was able to accomplish three bucket list items on Opening Day!  I'm adding two in bold below!

    -Ride Woodstock Express

-Ride Xtreme Skyflyer with another human (not solo)    A big thanks to @Magenta Lizard and @jcgoble3 for flying with me!
-Have something at the Smoothie Shack near Diamondback
    -Buy a unique souvenir(s)
-See the Ultimate Dog Show at least once
-Marathon water ride day (ride each one at least once in the same day)
-Old West Photo with KIC friends
-Watch fireworks on International Street sitting beside the fountains while indulging in a delicious treat
    -See the Ultmate Stunt Show
    - Complete every Haunt Maze
-Don Helbig selfie   I opted for a photo instead of a selfie.  We will take a better one when the weather is better!

  2. I do not have a dining plan.  I'm *trying* to eat healthier, and it's fairly rare I get to spend the entire day in the park open to close, or a long enough time that would make me have to eat there more than periodically.

However, I was thinking about getting a day dining plan for tomorrow.  Thoughts?

  3. Okay, I started mine.  I have a feeling that some things will be added as I go.

In 2018, I will strive to:

    -Ride Woodstock Express
-Ride Xtreme Skyflyer with another human (not solo)
-Have something at the Smoothie Shack near Diamondback
    -Buy a unique souvenir(s)
-See the Ultimate Dog Show at least once
-Marathon water ride day (ride each one at least once in the same day)
-Old West Photo with KIC friends
-Watch fireworks on International Street sitting beside the fountains while indulging in a delicious treat
    -See the Ultmate Stunt Show
    - Complete every Haunt Maze
    -Don Helbig selfie
-Ride The Beast in the back row
-Work on a TBA creative project

  4. Xtreme Skyflyer is one of my favorite paid activities in the park.  I did it once with a friend during college, and then last season I wanted to do it so badly.  I had asked friends a few times (the declined) and then just decided to do it by myself. I think I flew four or five times altogether.  Solo is the way to go because your arms are free.  I like to get my ticket early in the day and then go fly later in the evening.  What a rush!

It should. I'm north west of the park in Indianapolis, and today is dry and sunny. Cold though...

It has rained in the Dayton area nonstop for four or so days.  I live on the Great Miami River and it's pretty flooded right now.

  6. That moment when the sun starts to dip below the horizon and the lights on Vortex and Racer start turning on.  A cool breeze hits, the park begins to take on a new life as shadows start to lengthen.  Around this time I start budgeting my time and devising a game plan for what to ride before the night ends, and how I can get the darkest ride, closest to the front of the train on The Beast.

  7. EXtreme Skyflyer!  What I have found is that you can go purchase your ticket earlier in the day when the price is lower (plus the Gold Pass discount!) and then come back when the line dies down or at night - which is my favorite time to fly.

Also, the coin operated foot massagers near Viking Fury/AE walkway. For a quarter, it's quite the deal.  Feels lovely.

That’s agreed I love riding Bat. The trains seem to be all full or almost every time. The line doesn’t seem to fill up though

The line is a people eater. LOL. I remember waiting over an hour for it when it first opened up, and I'm positive that the line got even longer than that.

  9. Related to Coasterstock: I live in Dayton and have a cousin who lives closer to the park than I do.  I am always able to stay with her, but I thought about making it a mini vacay and staying closer to the park in a hotel.  Certainly Friday, maybe even Thursday, in order to take advantage of the ERT. Would any ladies be interested in splitting the cost for a hotel room?

I'm okay with ride and park names, but the stuff posted above is starting to get weird...

Anything above 4 letters that isn't a ride/park name is getting a wee bit obsessive.

    Obsessive or excessive?

Side note, aren't we here because we are a bit obsessive?  Not in a bad way, but in a fun way.  I mean here we are talking about an amusement park and we still can't walk through the gates for 44 days. (See? I'm obsessed! lol)

I'm still relatively new to the community, having been here since last May.  I honestly just try to be cool and use the lingo.  I'm not good at it. Haha but at least I have fun!

  11. ^ I agree that the theming has faded over time.  I still feel like each area has a specific vibe, though.  I do wish they'd up the ante a little bit.

What kind of area would you like to see added in the future?  I'd like to see X-Base expanded. (I know there's a thread for that.)  I also enjoyed the Adventure Village theme, the jungle-y, Indiana Jones-y theme was appealing to me.

Soak City never gets any respect.  :(

Given the choices I would have to say Rivertown.   My least favorite is Action Zone due to no dedicated drink stand.

Why isnt X=base on the poll? I know its not much but still. Also Soak City needs to be on it as well.

For some reason, I still consider X-Base part of Coney.  I know it's its own area, and I'm sorry or my oversight.

I meant dry park areas, and I didn't specify.  I don't utilize Soak City myself, and in some ways I kind of consider it its own park.

I'm a Rivertown girl! I love the Rivertown vibe past and present, and my favorite rides are located there: The Beast, Mysti and DB.  A close second would be Adventure Village.  I loved King Cobra and I'll always love AE.

  13. You know it's the season...

...when you dream that on opening day you're excitedly roaming the park having a fantastic day.  All of a sudden, you realize the park is closing very soon and didn't even ride The Beast!  So you make a beeline over to Rivertown and get on the LROTN just in the nick of time and exit the ride smiling like the biggest nerd ever.

You know how many they'd have to get out? :) I'd hope not everyone tried to redeem on the same day :D

There has to be a systematic way to release a FL/FLP day to Gold Pass holders... Maybe letters A-C get this two week window, etc.  Do it by name, or time window the pass or renewal was purchased. I'd love to utilize it but I'm busy on Sundays, so I can't.
