  1. is it just me or has FOF gotten unbearably rough in recent years?
  2. when it comes to steel age has little to do with it. raptor came out in 1994 and its still just as smooth as Banshee
  3. my hubby and i both screwed our backs up on FOF it is the roughest coaster i have ever been on.
  4. i rode it in 2005 with the loop and honestly it was the best wooden coaster i have ever been on. i would love to see RMC rebuild it.
  5. no thanks. i love my coasters but you couldnt pay me enough to ride either of these. ive seen both fail at other parks. but im sure it definitely is a thrill.
  6. i wish there were flat rides that did something other than spin in circles because i get really motion sick which is why i ride only mainly coasters. i honestly see them adding two coasters for this event. idk what those woukd be other than a giga and yes possibly a RMC.
  7. comfortable? Its a roller coaster not your couch. My 4 year old would love it.
  8. SOB was designed amazingly but they chose the wrong company to build it. if it wouldnt have been demolished when it was RMC just maybe could have saved it. by far SOB is the best wooden ive ever been on. but my preference always has been steel. my first coaster with an inversion was thunderbolt at camden park (Kings Islands old screamin demon)
  9. Cedar Fairs looked at SOB like i huge problem they inherited when they purchased Kings Island. i personally belueve that if Cedar Fairs wouldnt have bought it SOB may very well still be here today. so far since the purchase of ki we have only recieved one amazing coaster and that is Banshee.
  10. Cedar Fairs would never ever mess with camden park. its not worth their time. my personal dream has always been to purchase it and make it into something great and a lot more safe. i would love to purchase old coasters that major parks are selling. make it a final resting place for all of the old arrows out there.
  11. i live in Charleston wv and our state only has one very small family owned park. im not asking for anything huge or anything that comes close to comparing to Cedar Point or Kings Island. i travel to ohio several times a summer to go to their parks but not everyone has that luxury. its not even the small size that bothers me, its the lack of safety that bothers me so much. our roller coaster opened in 1958 and is still ran by manual brakes. there are no seatbelts and the "lap" bar sits about eight inches from your legs. my dream is to purchase Camden Park and bring new life to it. i would love to put quite a few coasters in it. basically purchase old coasters from bigger parks. until 1999 we had Kings Islands old screamin demon . that was actually my first experience with inversions on coasters. all of these old arrow loopers are starting to be slowly phased out of the major parks. camden park could kind of be a final resting place for them. in their current parks they dont get much appreciation compared to all the new steel coasters but i know that they would be very much loved here.
  12. wow i thought i was the only one who felt this way. did you ever get the chance to ride SOB? hands down that was the best wooden coaster i have ever been on.
  13. im sorry but there is no way i would waste more than 30 min waiting on it. its a decent ride but i dont understand why everyone is so hyped up about it. its a decent wooden coaster but its no SOB. No woodie will ever come close to SOB.
  14. oh i totally agree naming it SOB would be a curse. in two years ill have my degree in structrual engineering to become a coaster designer. maybe i will get the chance to redesign SOB
  15. i always take mine off and place them in a cargo pocket. the smooth rides like Banshee and Diamondback arent as much of an issue as the older rougher coasters like Vortex and The Beast.
  16. in five years Kings Island hits a major milestone, 50 years! what are some of your ideas that you would like to see happen for this special occasion? i would personally like to see new versions of the 2 coasters we have lost. i know im probably alone in this but i miss SOB terribly. it was an amazing design but was chosen to be built by the wrong manufacturer. the ideas were solid and all of the elements that were brand new to wooden coasters actually worked very well. with RMC doing so well in making a name for themselves these past 6 years i feel that they could take the original design and build upon it safely. the part of the coaster that failed was a normal part of most wooden coasters. it was taller than any other woodie therefore should have had more structrual supports than it did. after the intial accident in 2006 the trains were replaced with lighter ones to reduce stress on the structure. this is the only reason the vertical loop was removed. the lighter trains couldnt successfully make it through the loop. there was never a problem with the loop itself although most people dont know this since a vertical loop has never been used on a wooden coaster since then. second coaster we lost was king cobra. again i know that most people dont like stand ups but i personally think its a different thrill than you can get from any other style of coaster. i never had tge chance to ride cobra because by the time i was tall enough it was gone. I've seen POV videos and i understand peoples issues with the restraints used on the old TOGO stand ups. but i did ride mantis at Cedar Point and i absolutely fell in love. it just had your standard OTSR and i thought it was quite comfortable.
  17. my hubby is 5'7" about 250 and the only thing he cant ride is drop zone. no issues on any of the coasters. i could see some females with large chests possibly having a few issues with some of the over the shoulder restraints. im not gifted in that area so i have no problems lol
  18. yes the all season cups can be used at all Cedar Fairs parks. im petsinally loving the disposable cups option available for this year. you may want to get that option because at Cedar Point you can not take cups onto the coasters and leave them to the side like you can at Kings Island. they make you put it into a $2 locker. so the throw away cups is definitely a better option.
  19. it was an ok ride. honestly though i still prefer beast as far as wooden coasters goes. i understand that the park may have been a little nervous about adding a new wooden coaster since the last one SOB RIP ended so badly. i think this may have caused them to be a little too cautious. its just not a very thrilling ride in my opinion and the shed was a major disapointment.
  20. when ae ho to the Cedar Fairs parks we always purchase a food wristband for $31. its a meal every hour and a half. there are five of us (3 adults, 8 year old, and a 4 year old). we buy two bands ands that feeds us very well all day. mainly we use it to feed the kids and my mom because my husband and i dont eat much in the heat plus i get motion sick easily so rides on a full stomach just isnt a good idea for me. but as an example we get two chicken tenders and fries meals and we all much on it. then 90 minutes later if soneone is hungry they can choose somewhere to eat. i even saw on Cedar Points site they now offer a food band for 2 days fir $52.
  21. how about a launch coaster thats actually thrilling? personally i think premiers coasters are lije arrows. they get really rough really quickly. FOF came out when i was 12 and i rode it that year and it was great. however last year it was so rough that it wasnt even enjoyable. maverick however is an excellent launched coaster and extremely smooth. i just dont think steel coasters should be that rough. so either a new launched coaster by Intamin or a few thrilling flat rides.
  22. my hubby and i had an amazing trip. the weather was perfect except the morning was pretty chilly and it took a few hours of warming up before all of the coasters were running. we did nystic timbers first and only waited ten minutes. im glad because personally i would have been upset to have waited longer for it. its an ok ride but im used to Cedar Fairs building amazing and very thrilling coasters and its just not that exciting. after that we went around riding some of the older coasters until it was warm enough for my very favvorite Banshee. Beast was a great ride as always i just wish it didnt take over a minute to make it up the lift hill lol. then we rode The Racer which did seem a bit smoother than last year. we skipped fof just because it has become so rough i know longer enjoy it. we did ride Vortex which was as rough as ever but a good ride. then diamond back and Banshee again. all in all the lines were short and it was a great day. cant wait until tuesday to go to Cedar Point for two days.
  23. yes premier does launch but the problem is that fof is 21 years old and steel but yet its rougher than The Beast. fof isnt even enjoyable anymore because it is so rough. the whole point of steel is that its smooth. raptor at cp is 23 and its still kst as smooth tiday as it was when it opened in 1994. intamins seem to stay smooth as well.
  24. i was shocked when mystic timbers was announxed instead of a giga. personally i would have much oreferred a giga. i rode mytic timbers on its second weekend and it was ok but i personally dont think its anything special. Kings Island already had more wooden coasters than almost anywhere else. Im also extremely heartbroken that SOB was desyroyed right as RMC was coming onto the scene. SOB was an amazing coaster. the design was great they just chose the wrong manufacturer.
