  1. Wow. Someone who likes KB. Sorry, just not my favorite person and has quite a bad rep with many people I know...and he's no Bill. Anyway, I am very happy that they will finally have multiple shows throughout the park again. I saw Hot Island Rhythms yesterday. It's better than nothing (and no it's not awful), but still not the best show they've had. Maybe I'm a little biased, but I've seen what the dept used to be like approx 10 years ago. Definitely looking forward to the ice skating though.

  2. I do have 2-3 years of the PKIE variety show on VHS but it's not the same.

I miss Summer Showcase. I did a few of those. Ushers trying to be funny/entertaining is a scary concept, but we had a good time!

  3. I am also looking forward to having 5 shows in the park this year. So where are all the shows going to be held this year?

    1. Paramount Theatre

    2. International Showplace

    3. Nickelodeon Theatre

    4. Band Stand

    5. Back Porch Stage

Also to the poster above, the Back Porch will not be used this year.

So if the Back Porch Stage is out and the Parade is out these are some possible choices,

    Roving Band

    Street Show

    Train show

I personally hope the last one is right!

They could also double-up the shows. They could have a show at Bandstand during the day and Karaoke at night...like in the past. Any ideas on what Paramount Theater will be called? I would assume the name will be changing. Back to American Heritage, maybe?!

  4. Back in 95 and 96 they had the house of groove show and retro repeat the beat at international showplace, it added to the atmosphere when the shows started up and you could here it all over. Now most of the time it looks so bare. Also at international showplace on the sides there are the peach covered door screens. those were sent from the warehouse in S.C. last year i noticed they were ripped and dry rotting, how sad it was to see. Also in Nick at the stage when i was a performer there they had the stage, looks like now they took out all the seats and filled it in with concrete to make a level surface, another disappointment on my end. Bring back the shows in the nature they are meant to be, an awesome, talk-able event they use to be.......

I'm so glad someone remembers the last of the "good ole days". I worked at Repeat The Beat my first year in Entertainment. All of the shows in the park were great that year...and sadly things have gone down more and more every year. It was nice having day shows and night shows. I remember filling International Showplace on a daily basis, back then. I'm hoping the changes for '07 bring it back to those days...

Awesome, do you have any pics of that show or video/audio? Although I was not part of the cast or crew of house of groove, it was one of my favorites. Looking for stuff from that show. I know Jen was the Stage manager, and I knew most of the cast. But I dont have any pics or anything...

I was still in Merch during "Groove". I used to have a cassette with a live recording of "Retro". I wasn't in the show either (Usher). I'm sure it's long gone though. We must've crossed paths somewhere along the way.

  6. The capacity of Timberwolf is around 6,000.

When Britney Spears played Timberwolf years ago, the entire show had to be re-tooled just to fit the stage.

Just a couple comments. I thought the capacity for T-Wolf was 10,000. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember hearing when I worked there. I worked quite a few T-Wolf shows over the years. Also, and this is just a side note, I worked that Britney Spears concert. That was a memorable night. Sold out. People standing on benches. People yelling at us because people were standing benches. Getting threatened a couple times. Awful crowd. Completely lip-synched show. Yea, even the spoken stuff between songs. But that night at midnight I turned 21, so that definitely made up for it. Over the past few years they've had some decent acts. Last year I loved "working" the Simple Plan concert. However, my favorite would have to be Third Eye Blind a few years ago.

  7. I miss the Rib Pit sandwiches...McRib is closest thing to it I guess...

Yeah, but McDonalds don't put Montgomery Inn sauce on it.

On top of that, the Rib Pit sandwiches were a higher quality of meat than McDonalds uses.

    I said closest...

  8. Wow...I'm shocked. Guess I had good timing though. Was in Vegas the weekend of 12/17. I finally rode High Roller - a decent ride - nothing 'spectacular' but fun at night. Now, on the opposite end of the spectrum, I rode Insanity also! OMG! The only time I've truly been nervous to ride something...I was shaking afterwards, of course it could be because it was only 30 degrees outside before the spinning at that height!

  9. I think every department has it's sucky parts, let's not turn this into another battle of who's right/wrong...

Long story short though, I think WinterFest could use some tweaking - which I completely expected. "Rome wasn't built in a day", right? I also think that it depends on the person/family's attitude when they go in...if you go in expecting the most magnificent thing ever you'll be disappointed...but if you go in expecting to enjoy some time with friends/family then you might just find yourself having a good time! Also, keep in mind, for those that went to the original (I was there too!) that our own personalities and likes/dislikes can change drastically over a 13 year period...things seemed bigger, more colorful, etc. **Stepping down**

Side Note: WooHoo! 300th Post! cool.gif

  10. So this was a last minute decision that noone at the park knew until Jeff made it public? And that Maureen was not in "training" to replace Jeff? Not trying to argue, but that is how I was taking it and when I started seeing her on the news and not Jeff, I was thinking to myself, "where is Jeff?" or "is Maureen taking his place or are they partners?" But if you are soo certain it is not true, then I will let it be.

Jeff was there this morning as well. They were taking turns with each station. There was several things going on this morning so they were split. Trust me Jeff was doing his share of talking too

Yep, I saw Jeff on Fox19...

kinda shocked and sad that he's leaving...

  11. I know Headless Hollow had a long wait at times, but the longest average wait for Maze Of Madness was 1 hour...from the entrance of the Zephyr.

Nah... Dane and I did the Maze Saturday night and waited from the Zephyr... I don't think it was any more than 20mins. Give it up for Scott and his people eating machine!! biggrin.gif

I would REALLY like to understand how this could have been possible compared to the Saturday night I was at. Like I said, the people I was with ATTEMPTED the Maze Of Madness line. They started a little AFTER you go under The Racer. In about a half hour they hadn't even reached the part where you "que" around, and decided to come back and meet me and do something else with the other people I was with. How can it be that MY night it took that long for such a short distance, yet people claim it was anywhere from 1 hour to 20 minutes from way back by Zephyr on other nights...what could they have been doing different?

I don't think 20 minutes from the Zephyr entrance is right...maybe time just flew by because you were having a good time (a.k.a. the point of Kings Island wink.gif ) From under The Racer was at most a 20 minute wait...actually, normally less. It was approx 45 min from the actual entrance gate at the beginning of the queue lines and approx. 1 hour from the ATM by the Zephyr entrance. We timed it multiple times.

It is possible that there could have been slight delays with groups 're-arranging' or with letting disability passes enter, but nothing extremely time consuming.

Scott told me you guys were there...Go Us!

  13. as for winterfest i would not judge it just yet. i know it seems expensive but i think it would be worth it. i know i will be there to see it at least once. there will be lots of entertainment and ice skating and many things to see and experience. i say give it a chance but if you dont want to waste your money and think it will be a waste just dont go. Just read other people's trip reports on here and see what you are missing out on.

    **applause**

  14. I don't mind waiting in line...but NOT 2 hours for a 5-10 minute haunt. And before anyone says "stop your whining"...think about it, if you had to wait 2 hours for each haunt, that means you could only do possibly 4 haunts a night..

Just curious...which haunts had a 2 hour wait? I'm not saying anyone is lieing....honestly, just curious....

  15. Psycho Path: The line stretched all the way around the corner of Zephyr.

Actually that was the line for Maze Of Madness...many people got in line thinking it was for Psycho Path - heck, many people didn't know what they were getting in line for...
