    The Racers

I didn't know they officially changed their 'view' of The Racer...I still personally see it as two rides...maybe it's because it has been for so many years....Thanx for the info Shaggy!

    The Racers

PKI considers it two separate coasters...which makes sense because they are different....if they both went forward they would be the same (well, close enough) , but since one goes backwards, it is 2 different rides...
  3. Since when do they sell alcohol at T-wolf? Is that something new? Or did people sneak it in? That shouldn't be happening - especially at a concert geared towards the younger crowd...Tonight's Billy Idol concert would be a different story - meant for a different age group! Speaking of Billy Idol - was anyone there? DragonLord? I was supposed to go with a friend, but we decided not to at the last minute - I'm SURE it wasn't even close to a sell-out - maybe 50%, if that ?!
  4. OMG Do I feel your pain...I worked my share of T-Wolf concerts (Usher Supervisor)...They suck...Most of the time. Two Years ago at an Aaron Carter concert I remember having the same trouble...One guy got in my face like he was gonna hit me because I told his kids to get off the benches...It's for their safety, how hard is that to understand. I totally agree, most of the time the parents are MUCH worse than the kids! My all-time worst, however, has to be from the summer of 1999...Britney Spears! That was THE worst night ever....People on benches, Smokers, Ushers getting B*tched at...I remember a few of us Ushers going off on people...that was actuallly the best part Another good part - Britney lip synched the ENTIRE concert - even the spoken stuff! Of course it was a sellout crowd...All 10,000 seats! I know people have 'threatened' to report me as well, and I always tell them my name and say go to GR....As long as I'm doing my job, I'm not getting into any trouble! Actually, I remember the year of the Britney concert - the ushers & security got mentioned in the concert review in the Enquirer...How we 'ruined' (may have been a different word) the show!? I just laughed!
  5. I think that's a definite possibility
  6. Actually it can be referred to as a couple different things....Mason, Cincinnati, Kings Mills, and Kings Island - would all be appropriate on snail mail. However, officially, it is: Kings Island, OH - Obviously it wasn't like that before the park was built....it was Mason before the park arrived...For those that don't believe, just check pki.com in the Media Center
  7. Thanx for the info...Since it was brought up after the press release I thought it was a water slide type of thing...but it's actually somewhere between a log flume and a roller coaster....Sounds kinda cool! Thanx again!
  8. Lately with the WaterWorks news, I have been seeing people mention Intamin's Aqua Trax....My question is - What is it? I've never seen one and I can't really find much info on it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanx! Edited: Meant to put this in the General Forum - Sorry!
  9. I am REALLY looking forward to whatever changes are ahead for the WaterWorks area of the park. I did notice the word "Exotic" in the press release. I'm guessing there will be a new Island at the Island...Something along those lines...Maybe a more tropical feel - beaches, etc. Maybe they are trying to merge it into the rest of the park by building more of the park around it...With other parks modifying/adding new waterparks, I think this will be a great move for PKI...I'm sure it will be more than a 'makeover', but instead a complete transformation...I'm guessing WaterWorks as we know it will be completely gone. PKI always tries to stay cutting edge (i.e. SOB, Delirium, TR:TR, etc.) - They won't disappoint us...You can't please everyone, but I'm guessing majority will be very happy. Reminder: I'm saying this - having no clue what is to come in 2004. I just know I've had a pass since I was old enough (I'll be 25 next week) and I spent 8 seasons working at the park. They always have something good up their sleeves! Sittin' on the edge of my seat!
  10. Shaggy - On one hand I agree with you - avoid things you don't like...Which I have been avoiding SOB....However, I do like the ride itself - as in the track layout - the ride itself....it's the comfort factor...Obviously it's not going to be the smoothest ride in the world, partially because it's a coaster, but mainly because (as you said) it is a WOODEN coaster...but there has to be someway to modify those trains...More leg room, something...I'd almost rather have shoulder harnesses if it meant you wouldn't be squeezed as tight - I don't know if that's a factor in the construction of the trains or not...I know safety is always an issue. I've been on coasters where they have a couple cars in each train that are slightly modified for bigger/taller people...Maybe that would help? Maybe it wouldn't, I don't know... Oh yea, this topic has come up many times on various boards...maybe that means it's a real issue for people - maybe some people do just want attention. I don't know...Just some thoughts...
  11. It's not even about the turbulence...It's mainly about the trains in my opinion - you shouldn't be black & blue when you get off an AMUSEMENT park ride. The last time I rode SOB was at the beginning of last season and that will be the last time unless they make some changes...My knees were sore for days, both of them were bruised black & blue. That's just not right. Of course it won't be a "smooth" ride, but it shouldn't be painful either!
  12. I miss the Smurfs (the ride and the walk-around characters), Days Of Thunder, and the wooden shoes (as I used to call them) - I think the real name is Le Flying Dutchmen...something like that... My favorite shows that are gone are the Skating Shows (when they were in Paramount Theatre) and 'Retro: Repeat The Beat' from '96...I'd say the big stage shows from American Heritage, but I don't remember them too clearly...and of course I miss the Clown Band!
  13. Looks like the board is getting some "new" people because of the press release
  14. Some of us actually would like to see WaterWorks re-done. Yes, I'd like a coaster too (at some point)...but I don't care if it comes next year or the year after. Good things come to those who wait. I'm actually really looking forward to whatever they have in store for WaterWorks...Plus as many people have said - PKI is not REALLY in competition with Cedar Point - they are totally different parks - CP is a thrill park and PKI is a family theme park (which is more all-inclusive)... Also, a side note - suicide is NOTHING to joke around about...For those of us who have dealt with it, it's not a topic you just throw around casually.
  15. I'm gonna stick with "WaterWorks" being gone and totally re-vamped and expanded into "SplashWorks" (or some better name hopefully)....I'm thinking this water 'park expansion' will include all new attractions (slides, lazy river, re-vamped wave pool, bodyboard simulator, etc.) and either a Super Saturator or Master Blaster (like at Schlitterbahn)....I think the waterpark will be completely overhauled so that it's not even recognizable as WaterWorks...
  16. I still don't think it's going anywhere....I just can't seem them totally getting rid of the water park. My only other thought - totally a long shot - and I hope it isn't true, but maybe after all these years they struck a deal with The Beach? Access to both parks?! I know it's not likely - I just can't see them getting out of the waterpark aspect. They've definitely got me on the edge of my seat!
  17. Does anyone remember the 'stunt' Q102 pulled a couple years ago? They kept playing promos saying "Q102 is dead..." When it reality the 'old' Q102 was 'dead' - they kept playing those and in reality the 'new' Q102 just meant no more Rap on the station. Is it possible that PKI is doing the same? Like someone said about the name SplashWorks (which I personally don't like) - Is it possible that WaterWorks is 'dead' but SplashWorks is 'born'?! I just can't see them getting rid of that waterpark... They have SO much land that is available that it seems strange to HAVE to use that area for expansions...could they be moving the waterpark? I know I'm throwing out a lot questions, but I'm just kind of thinking as I type... I don't know what to think...I do agree that 2004 won't be a coaster year, which isn't a bad thing - variety is the spice of life (corny but true)...The only coaster possibility I could see is the one I can't think of the name of - with the water spraying everywhere - Super Saturator? I think that's something else!? OK, enough rambling! Just my thoughts...I truly think they have something up their sleeves @ PKI!!
  18. I have a season pass related question....I also received the promo card in the mail... My question is about the Family 4-pack of passes....Is it true that any four people can get this as long as they say they live at the same address? Also, do you know if all 4 people have to get there pass made at the same time or can we go for our picture separately? One last thing - if anyone knows - If I buy the 2004 pass, will it just get me into FearFest this year (and the November weekend) or can I go anytime for the rest of the season!? The way I read it, it is just FearFest - and considering most of September is sell-outs - I guess I just answered my own question!? Thanx for any info!
  19. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see any of the shows this year (so I can't comment on the quality)...but just remember that this is a transition year for the Entertainment Dept. It's the first year that everything was brought in-house...they were informed of this change at the very end of last season. I'm guessing that next year should/could be back up to a better quality! Just my two cents! Side Note: 'Retro: Repeat The Beat' is still my favorite show...Summer of '96 at Showplace (my first year ushering)....one thing that made it a good show is that it was a late afternoon/night show...they need to have stuff besides Karaoke & Country type shows at night...a real sit-down show again! We filled the theater many times that season - 1600+ people!
  20. Actually some PKI shows HAVE filled Showplace on a daily basis...Well, at least one that I know of filled it at least a few times per week - it was the summer of 96...'Retro: Repeat The Beat' - that was my FAVORITE show the entire time I spenting ushering @ PKI. I think another thing that made a difference was it was a late afternoon/night show...they need to have at least one of those again...not just the country show and/or karaoke...they need a real sit-down show at night like they used to.
  21. It's not very big?? It holds 10,000 people...that seems big to me... What they need to do is revamp the place - new benches...clean up the stage and the whole area in general.... They used to have MANY concerts there each year...I think if they'd clean it up they could do it again... I can't see them having a daily show there (even if it is only once or twice a day)...it takes too many people to run the place, plus they would never come close to filling the space... Just my semi-expert opinions...
  22. I was thinking almost the exact same thing, but with "Going Under" by Evanescence! Either a combo dark/water/coaster ride....or a coaster that underground tunnels or something of the sort - definitely a 'dark theme'....
  23. D THOMAS is PITCHING!!! Ha Ha...I just can't see that....I sure hope we're talkin the same D.T. - OMG, that is so hard to believe! He any good?!
  24. Are there many entertainment returners this year Yogi? Or do you just know from a character/escort point-of-view?
  25. I knew what ya meant Yogi Yogi - Do the Ushers have a team this year?
