  1. Do you think this freestyle stand will be open only on the odd hours, when it's under 80 degrees outside on a Tuesday?
  2. That doesn't even sound good. Probably wouldn't stop me from trying it.
  3. Oh!! I didn't even think about the fact that this is Coasterstock weekend!!
  4. 4 more days until my first visit of the season and I'm getting quite excited to see the changes. Anyone else going to be at the park Saturday the 18th?
  5. It used to be the Giga speculation thread where people would argue over theoretical information. Now that's moved here, and it's blowing up just as quick!
  6. Well if that track laying around at Clermont starts turning blue, we'll know that the video is legit....
  7. Now there is a legitimate fear!! Glad to hear OP got to ride everything in the park. I fortunately am down quite a few inches, and quite a few pounds this year, so hopefully I'll be able to ride some things more comfortably than in years past!!
  8. That ride was fun at TR:TR. I don't think I ever rode it as The Crypt. I'm just currently really amped, because in 10 days, I get to make my first visit for the season. With all the buzz this year, I'm really excited to get to see the park again!!
  9. Yeah, but then you have to add a Strata Platinum.
  10. "During the ride’s first season as The Crypt, guests were stunned. The front row of the three-rowed vehicle had been chopped clean off, reducing the capacity to be a bit closer to a typical, carnival Top Spin. That, we can imagine, was on purpose, allowing the once lumbering, theatrical vehicle to instead perform the more agile, nauseating nine-flip ride cycle of a carnival ride. And it did, flipping around in total darkness with no special effects to the “uncha-uncha” of electronic club music." source: https://www.themeparktourist.com/features/20160207/31467/tomb-raider-how-one-americas-best-ever-themed-rides-was-buried-good?page=3 I thought I had read somewhere that the third row was removed during Crypt. This info could be false, as all info from the internet is.
  11. The last row of seats was removed to try to fix the extreme forces that the ride was experiencing. If I recall correctly, the ride wasn't in such bad shape running as Tomb Raider, it was more when they switched it over to Crypt, and it was doing more inversions, that it was trying to shake itself apart.
  12. For what it's worth, I looked up Warren County building permits, and there are plenty listed from Paramount days, so I would imagine that Warren County is responsible for the building permits for KI. I could be wrong though.
  13. Someone a few days ago pointed out that Orion is the hunter, and that struck me based on one of Don's tweets... Very interesting thought. Don likely came up with that on his drive to the local home improvement store to pick up some more panels of trolling fence and a few board feet of trolling wood.
  14. Another thing that it's being taken into account in this conversation.... how frequently do you see someone out there washing and waxing the track? That stuff helps paint last longer.
  15. Speaking of coaster sounds, the sound of Banshee is awesome. The way that coaster sounds on the track is almost ominous.
  16. Speaking of The Vortex trains... when was it that they put the walls in the front of the front seats of each train? My memory serves me that I used to be able to stretch my legs all the way out into the front area of the trains when I rode, and found out when I finally got to get back on in the 30th anniversary season that they had put a wall up there.
  17. Pretty cool idea really. I had no clue that had done this!! Also of note if you watch the video, this was prior to the short little seatbelt things on the OTS bars that keep us "high circumference" folks from being able to fit.
  18. Could be final product will be gray, could also be etch primer. Raw metal requires a treatment prior to finalized paint/ powder coat, and this may just be a etching primer that's been applied.
  19. "We don't have a giga yet, but we've still got fun"
  20. That's awesome!! Keep it up! From someone who has gone from 315 to 220 in the past, I can tell you, you don't notice how much you've lost until you do something like riding a roller coaster you were super uncomfortable on last year with room to spare. It's unreal the difference.
  21. Wow, this went sideways in a big way. I personally haven't ridden in many different seats on Diamondback, but I'm one of those people that's been encouraged to just keep getting fatter because roller coasters are making their seats bigger to fit me. I'm 5'9" and about 240 lbs. I'm more of a power lifter figure than a beer bellied guy. Lots of chest and shoulders, little bit of belly. The only thing I've ever been uncomfortable on there is Drop Tower, and one time, my kids wanted me to ride the kids ride (can't remember the name of it) that has the kite in the tree (miniature Drop Tower kind of deal) and the first time on I had to be pinned in, second time on (after eating lunch) they couldn't pin me on so my wife begrudgingly had to ride with them.
  22. I have actually wondered exactly that. The hype on social media is awesome, and is going to help draw attention to the park, however, what haven't they shown?
  23. #whatsinthebar I just saw that.... which is wildly disappointing because the last time I looked at the camera, the cars were all still sitting and waiting. I love watching the process happen on that camera, and I missed it on the first train!!
  24. I could not agree more. I want a 500 foot tall coaster, I really do, but this is the kind of stuff that I can now bring my kids to a park I enjoyed as a child and point out and say "Daddy thought this was so cool when I was your age". These are those memories that most of us have of KI, and the types of things that you get to see all over again through the eyes of your own kiddos. Huge thanks to KI for seemingly doing most of what is being begged for on the forum!!
