Not all theming has to be seen by everyone. The plumbing and electrical components are already in place, but to mitigate trash and mosquito control they can just make it a gravel fountain, with appropriate foliage around it, it would be nice.

    Example:

I would prefer to see the gravel stream by Mystic Timbers' entrance to be turned into an actual running water stream (I believe it was a stream at one point).

  2. Also seems like footer work may be about to begin. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this truck I circled here is used to drill holes where the rebar for the footing will be placed in. I feel like I remember this truck being used for that during Orion construction.

  3. Ik everyone wants Phantom Theater to return to Boo Blasters, but with these new IP possibilities, maybe we see Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle return. The stuff is still there, all they need to do is update it to make it more modern and make the guns work again! I'm a 2000s baby so my young child memory is the Scooby Doo dark ride. I also hope we see the Crypt building reused.

Are we sure it’s actual water? I could see them doing another “dry stream” idea. They seem to hate water features. We couldn’t even get an actual fountain in Adventure Port-they went straight to the “it broke so we turned it into a planter” phase LOL.

I don't think it was ever supposed to be a water feature. I believe in the concept art it was a planter too.

There is plenty they could do - staff the entrance to not allow non prestige in, better signage and fencing, and don't direct people from other lines over.

Isn't the old season pass entrance from the paramount days still there and not in use? If so, that is the perfect solution for this problem.

     Blue Racer second half retrack.

I haven't been keeping much track of things, but I have not heard any announcement of blue racer getting the second half done. It might've been said awhile ago and just missed it, but where did this get confirmed?

I would like to see more re tracking done on The Beast. The new track has really improved the ride experience however the turn into the second lift is starting to get rough in my opinion. However, with The Racer retrack coming next year this isn’t very likely until 2025.

I believe both Racer and Beast trackwork were done in 2022 (more Beast work though as Racer was just a small section in 22), but still both can be done at the same time especially if it involves just that one turn before lift 2

I think a sign showing which direction is the front and the back of the train would really help The Bat. I don’t know how many times I saw people in the line for the back of the train go up front of the train slowing ops down by going in front of front of the people in line for the front of the train. A sign that shows which line is for which would really help operations.

Or just get rid of the front and back line dividers altogether. At this point it is just a way for people to try and bypass the remainder of the line if the line is backed up on one side, but not the other (even I've been guilty of doing it at times). Not at just Bat, but at rides like Beast and Viking Fury that still have 2 sided station queues and only use one.  Plus at Beast when they assign rows it basically makes the whole lines for front or back of train kinda pointless. I'd rather see the park get rid of the divided queues altogether. They did it with Racer's queue last year where the queue house isn't divided anymore.

Not sure if the concept has been discussed prior to this, but what do you guys think about the eccentric idea of using TRTR's building as a station for whatever may come to inhabit the old Vortex plot? I know it seems bizarre, but it would really kill two birds with one stone while not interfering too much with The Beast. What do you all think?

    avant garde concept vortex replacement.png

I feel like that would ruin the vibe of rivertown even more. I would rather see the station go where Vortex's station was as that corner of the park now is pretty dead at the moment. I think putting the station where the old Vortex station was would help draw crowds back down to the far end of Coney Mall and would probably boost ridership of WindSeeker, Antiques, Troika, and maybe even Backlot to some extent. Rivertown as is already is coaster heavy. I would rather see the Crypt building reused for some sort of indoor ride like the Vekoma madhouse @Cedar Fair Fanboy keeps bringing up

A survey was sent out this past summer asking about new events and parades. Maybe we are getting something new?

I haven't seen such survey myself. Can you provide a little more information on what they were surveying on. Like the themes of the events and parades?

  9. Tbh while I like Carnivale, it has been going on for 3 seasons now and has only been downsized over the years. I say if they aren't going to return the event back to how it was in 2019 (the different stages, more interactive character opportunities, the weekend concert series) I wouldn't be opposed to axing Carnivale and bringing in something new. At Coasterstock I asked Mike Koontz about doing a Frontier Festival or Kidzfest type thing and he said something along the lines of "we are looking into doing something in May and June that would be specific to Kings Island." For example he mentioned about how doing a boysenberry festival like Knotts wouldn't work at KI since that is a Knotts thing and there are no boysenberries here. Now if Carnivale leaves, maybe we could get an event along the lines of Knotts Summer Nights or the Busch Gardens Summer Celebration where the idea around the event is celebrating the season of summer. They could even tie the nightly fireworks into that and do concerts at Timberwolf on the weekends during the event (like BGW does).

If I had to choose this would be my 5 year plan for KI. Starting from 2025 ending at 2030.

2025: Park improvements. A new restaurant and more trees in AP.

2026: Action Zone retheme into a haunted area. Paint Banshee, give Delirium, Drop Tower new names and repaints. Maybe Drop Tower could be renamed to Scream Zone to pay homage to its former name while fitting with the new theme. Paint The Bat, maybe to a Black track color scheme? Two new flat rides, maybe a Zamperla NebulaZ and a S&S Screamin Swing?

2027: Soak City addition. SC is In desperate need of something new and personally I don’t visit SC very often I think a new water slide would work really well. Maybe that new family water slide collection that Schlitterbahn is getting next year.

2028: New coaster in The Vortex plot. Mack Rides extreme Spinner would be what I would pick but as long as the new coaster is a unique model it would be a good choice. Retheme Backlot to tie in with the new coaster and make the area between River Town and Coney Mall a new section of the park with these two coasters.

2029: A bit of a quiet year, more park improvements. Maybe retrack Woodstock Express with the GG.

2030: Boo Blasters retheme into a new dark ride. Maybe the revival of Phantom Theater?

Point is KI is still going strong and has so many options I can’t wait to see how the park grows in the future! Let me know your thoughts below.

I don't see KI going 8 years without a major coaster. I think 2027 is the absolute latest with my money on 2026. 2025 I think will be Soak City's year. My theory is they fill The Vortex plot first before starting on Action Zone as I feel like AZ will be a multi phase renovation/expansion.

GP not wanting to do extreme spinning on a coaster.  (I would likely not ride myself because I don't do spinning flats.)

I believe Time Traveler has been a big hit at Dollywood and it has a magnet on the train that makes it a controlled spin and not an uncontrolled spin like tea cups. Now Ride to Happiness takes that magnet off and runs as an uncontrolled spinning coaster. I think knowing how the park would want the ride to appeal to a wider demographic, if KI gets an Xtreme Spinner it'll likely have the magnet on and ride like Time Traveler.

The Monster ops are painfully slow

I worked Monster a couple times this year and heres the thing, those pod doors (especially for someone who is short and out of shape like me) are HEAVY to lift up. Not to mention the control operator manually parks the ride and they have to park it perfectly to safely load and unload people. You also can only load and unload one at a time so that slows everything down. Not to mention on low crowded/short staffed days they only staff 2 operators (drive and load/unload) and since there is only one operator loading and unloading they can only load one side which reduces capacity even more.

I think you can predict who’s getting what based off of geographical location. KI and CP aren’t going to get big projects the game season, same with CP/CWL, CWS/ KD, KD/ DP, or KBF/CGA

Didn't Carowinds and KD get the Intimidator coasters in the same year? Also, KI is getting SSBRs while CP is getting TT2 the same year. Ik those are different sized projects, they're both still fairly big marketable additions.

  14. 2026 is also rumored to be Valleyfair for their 50th anniversary. I could see 2026 being KI and Valleyfair. With Carowinds I think it depends on what they go with for 2025 which is rumored to be a water ride per recent surveys. My hope is they go with a Mack powersplash as it would knock out 2 birds with one stone: A) a new coaster and B ) a new water ride in the dry park. It also would give the park another launch coaster. I also wouldn't rule out on Carowinds getting a family coaster in their Camp Snoopy ie Snoopy's Soapbox Racers or Snoopy's Racing Railway or even something different than those 2.

Same here, Coney Mall received pavers in 2011, so hope they have plans to remove the blacktop for pavers in the next few years.

It's 441 and I'm wondering why they put blacktop around the Eiffel Tower in the 2019 renovation instead of pavers

Also wondering why they didn't replace the remainder of the blacktop that runs by Flume and Mystic's entrance when they built Mystic. Right now it just a small sliver of blacktop mixed with pavers and it is ugly imo. I wish they would replace that with all pavers.

Like Hawaiian Coasters 325 said above, it's hard to tell. But it looks like the snack shack and seating area shade structure are gone. The circle in front of the theater is new.

That circle is Woodstock Gliders. It's hard to tell with the sun glare when this screenshot was taken.
