  1. I haven't seen this myself, but possibly somebody could co mad like a Banshee and assault a ride operator because his daughter is too small to ride Diamondback.......

    Wow this man predicted Banshee

  2. They are putting up what looks to be a building about 2/3 the way down the ride in the woods.  You can see the concrete from the Blue racer.   What will that be?

Probably for the trims if I had to guess.

  3. Umm, we learned the track is blue and supports a very light grey/white, that people really don't like 'spoilers', and that most of KIC's members don't have the best taste in music.

Also, brake run, transfer track and station footings are nearing complete with more underway. Recent pics are in the Project X Construction Updates thread, and you can find video on the WildGravity Travels YouTube channel.

    Thank you!

  4. Hey all, I’ve been gone from the forum for about three weeks. Would a kind soul catch me up on if anything important was learned during that time? Also, what does the site look like currently? Thank you.

I actually like Orange on a coaster, not sure why... Great orange coasters include The Bat, Valravn and Rougarou. Also Fahrenheit and Talon.

That being said, that blue looks awesome. If I got to pick the support color, I’d probably go with white or black, just because I can’t think of any other color that work well with that blue track.

The problem with Orange is that it fades really easily and looks terrible if the park doesn't keep up with it (e.g. Tatsu, Georgia Scorcher, Goliath SFOG).

Personally, I hope they get a wild mouse and/or a nice mid-height range coaster.  Something that the 44" or 46" crowd can ride, but is still fun for the 48" and above crowd.  That segment of KI has been neglected since FAAC was built (2001).  Something that feels like a set up from Woodstock Express, but doesn't require the height of The Racers, Beast, Vortex, etc.. (or something that someone too afraid for those rides can jump on).

A Gravity Group family woodie would be perfect for this. Thrilling for enthusiasts but with a very low (36" I believe) height requirement so the little ones can ride too. Every park should replace their family PTC with one of these.

I don’t think there is a chance that Kings Island gets another coaster that quickly after this Giga is built. 2025 seems much more likely when the next coaster would come than 2022, to me at least. There was a 5 year gap between Diamondback and Banshee.

Guest have been/ are spoiled in the fact that 3 major coasters will be installed in the last 6 years. How many other parks have done that? I can only think of a few.

Yeah I don't think we'll get a coaster for our 50th. Cedar Point likely isn't getting anything for their 150th anniversary.

  8. I’m definitely hoping for a Maverick/Copperhead strike style coaster. Not sure if they’re the same style/manufacturer but they seem like it to me. Would love to see it in place of Congo falls and Timberwolf. Sorry for getting so off topic!!

Vekoma could also do one. Their European rides are lookin pretty great.

I have only had the pleasure of being on two, Maverick, and Cheetah Hunt.  But I am a firm believer that the Intamin Blitz coaster is their finest work.  Out of all the types of coasters Intamin has produced that is the only type of coaster that I wish Kings Island could get, and only part of the issues between Cedar Fair and Intamin that I hate, because the chances of Cedar Fair ordering one for any of their parks is extremely small.

At this point I just hope that we get a Mack multi-launch at some point.  If you really believe in the KI is getting coasters 20 years after CP, which I do not, the next two coasters after MF were Wicked Twister, which I cannot see KI getting, and Top Thrill Dragster, again another ride type which I cannot see KI getting, that leaves us at Maverick.  I believe Kings Island will get a new coaster in 2023, the year after the 50th.  So its possible, but I doubt Cedar Fair will purchase another coaster from Mack either with the steel tariffs in place.

I feel like if we get an RMC and a Mack/Intamin multi-launch our lineup will be all but complete. I guess the only thing left would be to get a Gravity Group family woodie instead of the PTC we currently have.

Gotta be honest, not much of a fan of any of these names. Truthfully I don't care if KI breaks any records with our giga. I just hope it's a good ride. With what the prints show, it looks like it will be an ok ride just extremely short. With the height of these hills after the first drop, considering it's only a 301' drop, it doesn't seem to me that it's going to be all that forceful. At least not any more so than Fury or Levi. I seriously hope I'm proven wrong.

I agree about not liking any of the names, but the ride does look to be more forceful than Fury and Leviathan and more in the vein of I305 from what we've seen so far.

I'm sure KI will still consider it a giga coaster and market the 300 foot drop. I'm not upset about this at all. I just don't know if they'll market it as a hyper coaster when they have the 300 foot drop to market it as a giga coaster. BGW markets Apollo's Chariot as a hyper when only the drop is in hyper range. To me this is more something we haven't seen before with a giga. This is more the Apollo's Chariot as a giga, but we'll see. Plus they can market it as the park's tallest, fastest, and meanest coaster.

Yes the official height will be at least 300 feet.

  12. They should totally advertise this as the world's tallest hyper coaster. At 299 feet we'd probably hold that record forever lol

Honestly this is a pretty great marketing campaign. All the news outlets will call it the world’s tallest rollercoaster and that will get the GP excited.

Is the streak still alive? I would love to be able to visit every day, though I suspect it could get old after a while.

Heres an updated/ more realistic list

Its been discussed on here that CF has a 5 year plan for its parks which obviously includes KI. Assuming one starts after 2020- what do you think would be the park's 5 year plan?

    Here's mine

2021: Planet Snoopy additions (interchangeable with 2023)

    2022: 50th Anniversary celebration

2023: Waterpark additions (interchangeable with 2021)

2024: Possible flat ride and coaster construction

    2025: Next coaster

Some of these could be combined or multiple things could occur at in one season.

I would add that in 2022 I would like to see a ton of upgrades to the overall "feel" of the park (i.e. landscaping) to add to the charm of the park.

The main thing I would love to see in 2022 is a revamp of The Racer. Give it a GCI retrack, fresh coat of paint with red accents, and possibly new trains (or at least a new coat of paint on the trains) to make it feel and look like it would in 1972.

I would also love to see a new log flume one of those years.

I talked to CF executives during my internship at CP during a panel about the likeness of a resort or hotel at KI. They said KI was more of a regional park. I wonder if they're shooting themselves in the foot after learning about this new campground or not.

The biggest parks for Cedar Fair in terms of investments are Cedar Point, Carowinds, and Canada's Wonderland with Kings Island and Kings Dominion being high tier regional parks, correct?

It looks like the program varies by park. Kings Island and Dorney's rewards look similar with Dorney also having bring a friend tickets as rewards.

Kings Dominion has no rewards, just entires to win a VIP experience:

Sounds like they are experimenting with a few different ideas to see what sticks. Will be interesting to see what they go with in the long run.
