  1. Slash the price of tickets is correct.  Saying slash the price off tickets would remove all price from the tickets

Compare "slash the ear of Van Gough" to "slash the ear off Van Gough"..... in which instance would his ear, or a portion of, remain?

Is it just me, or does this feel like an intentional move by CF? Maybe they're tired of KI beating CP in the best park category the last few years. Seems like they are egregiously neglecting KI this year. Port Adventure is not good. Theming is ok but rides are horrible. Park doesn't look as clean. Baynum just stopped painting DB in middle of job only to leave and go up to CP to paint Dragster. CF issues chaperone policy for KI but not for CP even though they have had similar issues. Budget cuts to ride operations and Don leaving. Doesn't look good.

Adventure Port is very good, for what budget they had and late timing of it --- a needed improvement for a previously neglected section of the Park. Cargo Loco is fun and the Adventure Express upgrade is nice. Sol Spin has a long wait at times but "ok".

DB painting,  shoehorned between weather and park opening, expect them to resume in Late Aug Sept during weekday downtime

I believe CP does not have the 'drop them off' issue (being more isolated) as much as KI did so maybe that's why the Chaperone Policy is not used there

The inflation rate that I used is pretty spot on. For example Intimidator 305 being the closet resemblance to Orion in terms of ride length and being more heavily themed cost $25 million to build in 2010. It would have cost 29.75 million to build in 2020. and yeah I would’ve been perfectly content with waiting an  additional season or two for a better giga coaster. The park literally built a gangster of a coaster in Mystic Timbers, 3 years prior. Oh not to mention but a gold pass to Kings Dominion is cheaper than Carowinds, and Carowinds is cheaper than Kings Island.

Inflation Rate spot on to what?

FWIW 2015 $30 million ->>> $32.7 million in 2020 (for Fury) is very close to the calculation using  the Consumer Price Index (CPI) https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm  (+/- $33 Million computed)

Using the ENR Construction Cost Index (which probably underestimates the 30% steel increase for the steel-heavy Orion project), $30 million in 2015 is more likely $37.5 million in 2020.

Orion built in 2020, cost 30 million to build. Now let’s compare it to the other giga coasters built and adjust their price tags to what they would’ve cost to build in 2020 based off inflation:

Millenium Force built in 2000, cost $25 million to build. Would cost $37.5 million to build in 2020.

Steel Dragon 2000 built in 2020, cost $52 million to build. It’s expensive price tag is because it was built to withstand earthquakes. Would cost $78 million to build in 2020.

Intimidator 305 built in 2010, cost $25 million to build. Would cost $29.75 million to build in 2020.

Leviathan built in 2012, cost $28 million to build. Would cost $31.64 million to build in 2020.

Fury 325 built in 2015, cost $30 million to build. Would cost $32.7 million to build in 2020.

You can't use the CPI inflation index to compute inflation in construction.  Long-term construction cost inflation is normally about double consumer price index (CPI).

True, but there was plenty of weekends they could’ve left it closed to get it finished for opening day. Remember they started painting Diamondback in FEBRUARY! February 23rd to be exact. Mako which is a near peer coaster at Seaworld closed in April for general maintenance and it got an entire fresh coat of paint. It reopened as of yesterday, May 18th. With all the other projects not being completed for opening day. Dare I say this may be the worst opening in KI history during the CF era?

Fla weather is a little different than Ohio in February (...and March...and April).  You will need it to be above 50 degrees IIRC to paint steel if you want it to last

Clearly it was successful for a Sunday despite the Bengals playing in the evening. A very large contrast to the last time they did this a decade or more ago. My unqualified opinion is that that there were some who intentionally sandbagged Sundays so that they wouldn’t have to work those nights. There was some cleaning house, and likely corporate wanted to give it a go.

    Next up: Thursdays.

Good weather + Columbus Day weekend + some company was there too

The Notice of Commencement for Orion was dated for 2018, 2019, and 2020 additions and modifications to the park. The NoC with Mystic Timbers was for 2016 and 2017. There's one for Tropical Plunge that's dated for 2015 and 2016. This document is for 2022 and 2023 changes to the park. I'm not well-versed in Notices of Commencement, but based on the past ones, it seems like we're looking at work that's starting in 2022 and finishing/opening in 2023.

If its major, this work could be for something opening in 2024.   It stands to reason that some of the firms mentioned on the NOC could be already contracted for work that is ongoing or recently completed.

  8. Information about NOC's: https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1311.04

"Improvements" is a defined term and involves addition and alterations to real property. A mechanic's lien is a security interest in the title to property for the benefit of those who have supplied labor or materials that improve the property.  Maintenance is excluded unless it improves the value of the property (examples would be painting a house or an addition of screen porch or other living areas. replacing a water heater or furnace would not as it merely prevents value from decreasing)

    ----------------------------

of the previous NOC's (rides, etal will be restaurants or other changes)

2019 - 2019,2020 and 2021 Additions and Modifications to Kings Island Park, i.e. covered work for Orion, demos etal

2018 - 2018,2019 and 2020 Additions and Modifications to Kings Island Park, i.e. covered work for Antique Autos, Demos, etal

2016 - 2016,2017 Additions and Modifications to Kings Island Park i.e. Covered work for Mystic Timbers, etal

The current one definitely refers to 2022 and 2023 Additions and Modifications to Kings Island Park.  Take that you'all for what you will

FYI --- that's a (somewhat) temporary survey control point.  typically to establish known points with establish coordinates and elevations. Control points are set around and to expand on a site to set up on to perform survey and mapping activities (also used to layout construction as well)
