  1. I don't care for some county music either, probably another reason I like when Haunt comes around, it's more recognizable for me. I know it's also what has had us on the fence for Dollywood or Silver Dollar City though.
  2. https://www.foxnews.com/us/chemical-leak-six-flags-water-park-texas-affects-dozens-hazmat-team-reponds Why does it seem like the Six Flags park chain is having alot of issues lately? Maybe more of it is showing up in my feeds cause of search history, but definitely not a good trend.
  3. They could save money during Haunt and just kill the lights and play the creepy sounds. Cheap and themed lol
  4. The ride operater for our county fair allowed us as teens (14-15yos) help with setup and teardownwith the ride ops, paid cash, and we got to know carnies so free rides. It was awesome back then cause I like seeing how things work, but thinking about it now they probably weren't concerned with safety if they let us do it.
  5. We need a double ferris wheel again, I was terrified of those things. Or bring back a gondola maybe
  6. I'm not a huge fan of the option offered, but looking into something more user friendly. Till then kid won't be allowed to make purchases in park, I'll put it on my CC, then she'll have to pay me back. Also means no going for a snack by herself. (Maybe that's a good thing?)
  7. Interesting read about the legal tender part. https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/legal_tender The others are many reasons why I'm looking at alternatives to this specific card for my 12yo. She manages her cash savings well, plus it's helped her practice math over the years vs a card.
  8. Great to know about the fireworks. I don't mind minor issues, that's just the way things go with anything new. It's pretty much a test visit to see if we want to stay they for daughters 13th birthday in September. The one I'm kinda wondering about is if the transportation to the park is operating. I've never been able to drink at the park cause I'm the driver, so kinda looking forward to a cocktail lol
  9. So little more searching on the kids needing cards issue. Alot of people mentioned Greenlight as an option, but for the rare time mine spends money, the monthly fee would just eat at her savings. Chase Bank has a First Checking account for kids ages 6-17. It is supported through Greenlight and has same features. The adult needs to have a Chase account, but: NO monthly fees. So looks like that is a decent option if you already have a Chase account.
  10. Managed to reserve a cabin for next weekend. I guess some people are canceling cause they aren't sure how operations will go maybe. I'll try to get video and pictures if there aren't a ton on the net yet.
  11. Does anyone know if Dominoes has a Hotspot near the park? CP has one at Breakers.
  12. Maybe they can get a couple Haunt exclusive ones stocked in the next couple months.
  13. We'll be going next weekend. So Carnivale will also be going on. Does 7pm Royal Dance Party, grab drinks and snacks, head to Coney for the Parade stop, then Area 72 Dance party seem doable? Seems insane to spend 3 hours dancing but kid says otherwise.
  14. Will the cards work on the locker rental as well? I've had random issues using my debit or CCs. It's never the same card that won't take. Also can they be used in place of game cards or are we stuck with another thing for 12yo to keep track of?
  15. Haunt makeup and costume trailer tour?
  16. Was the gathering in large groups blocking midways always a rule?
  17. We're still going, but probably going to spend more time at GWL doing thing than we planned. Ropedrop a few things and at least get counted for capacity in case they have that happen again, head back to hotel to eat and swim, then a few hours towards evening. I'm not going to count on being able to get food.
  18. First nights deposit non refundable if less than 3 days from check-in. I'd lose $467 even if I canceled yesterday. 3-7 days would have been $100, 8+ would have been $50.
  19. What happened? Should I expect a moshpit?
  20. Getting a feel for what the public wants? And apparently going through the what if we did this scenarios of how to address it for them lol
  21. Teen years aren't that easy to identify, my 12yo has been mistaken for 15 without makeup. Don't most schools issue school ID now? Obviously anyone with an elementary ID isn't a teen. Middle/High school it gets jumbled. Even when I got my daughters season pass I just put in her info, there was no age verification. If they go that route, plenty will try to create a new passholder account with false information to skirt the rule unless everyone has to proof Bday with a new pass come 2022 pass time.
  22. Just looking at Soak City reservation availability opens up the 2nd weekend in June, so it could ease up a bit.
  23. It was reoccurring if you count the parking lot fight with the same boy when dark fell.
  24. Just saying they have increased security stationed around the park to handle the increase in crowds would be simple enough without admiting fault. They just didn't anticipate THAT big of a crowd or trouble. I would have either. Honestly if I had a choice between being park security anywhere or living in my car, I'd live in my car. It may be a bit harder for them to fill those positions if this keeps up.
  25. Maybe then need to update their procedures for minors who fight in the park. One thing I noticed in videos floating around: the boy in the red #2 shirt fight by Coney BBQ is THE SAME kid later fighting in the parking lot. So maybe they need a sheriff on hand to start holding them until a parent comes to pick them up. Far as the fights I will say I haven't seen them yet. We only went public opening weekend and left at 7pm. There were a few questionable instances I wanted nothing to do with. Main being we were in FL line for Diamondback and apparently a group of 8-10 line jumpers were on the platform and people in the regular queue were being very vocal about it until ops made them all come back down and leave through the FL queue again. Both sides had some people jawing, me and my 12yo were stuck in the middle of the ejected group on one side of us and the people who called them out on the other. On the steps, NOT fun. Maybe OPS will have to start watching anyone they boot from line to make sure there aren't more confrontations afterwards. Besides front security I only saw 1 at Beast and one at Coney Mall. (I wasn't specifically looking for them so could have been alot more) 2nd instance is people watching the park exit for people with FL bracelets and asking to buy them. We said no, we were coming back. Guy went back to looking for others. There's other instances I've read of people being hassled in lines and people pressuring to give their FL bracelets to them. Kid already knows her 1st priority when she's queued alone is be polite, do what ops say or pay MY price, stay safe, and if anything is a problem come back to me or get a ride operater if need be. I am questioning if she should queue alone now if I can't see her easily like Racers or Beast. But we'll just see how this weekend feels before I become a bummer.
