  1. I agree that a seatbelt should be seems to be the answer from preventing this in the future on Drop Tower rides. My fear though is that this is going to spawn an overreaction and there will be a movement to require seatbelts on all coasters. I'd hate to see them added to Velocicoaster, Space Mountain, Mako, Raging Bull, etc when they aren't necessary. I realize Cedar Fair insists on them, but I think that's more for optics than anything else.
  2. I'm fully vaxxed but I'm opposed to it. We had a trip booked to LA for the first week of December. We had planned on doing Disneyland/Knott's/Magic Mountain/Universal. We cancelled (thanks Southwest for not charging us an arm and a leg to change the flights) and rebooked to Orlando where we'll do WDW/Universal/Busch Gardens/SeaWorld. I'm totally pro-vax (got mine the first day I was eligible) but I'm just afraid this is a slippery slope that's going to lead to having to showing it anytime we go anywhere. Plus, they aren't giving a pass to people who have natural immunity through previous infection, so it's not even based on true immunity. It's not political for me at all (I'd describe myself as being more on the progressive side of things). In fact, I hate that any of this has become political.
  3. So far in 2021, I've been to Kings Island, Cedar Point, Dollywood, Carowinds, SF Great Adventure, SF St. Louis, SF Great America, Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa, SeaWorld Orlando, Disney Magic Kingdom, Disney Animal Kingdom, Disney Hollywood Studios, and Hershey Park. At the beginning of the year, I would have put money on Six Flags being the worst at staffing, lines, hours, etc. Somehow, they've managed to be one of the best (at least so far this year). I don't expect it to continue, but they are doing a much better job than many of the others who are normally very good.
  4. I'm not sure what was up with Diamondback yesterday but it rattled really bad during my two rides. Normally it's fairly smooth with maybe a hint of a rattle. Yesterday I could even feel the vibrations in my seat. Perhaps it had to do with the heat? The only other time I've felt something similar on a B&M Hyper was at Six Flags Over Georgia on Goliath last year.
  5. I've ridden Banshee too many times to count, and I've always loved it. I just had my first ride on Raptor last weekend and wow, was that intense. It seemed much faster than Banshee to me. It could have been that the ride was running really well that afternoon, but I was expecting Banshee Part 2 and got something way more intense.
  6. I never would have guessed that Six Flags would be the last major holdout on outdoor masks. They're not budging. Since they were one of the most lax about enforcing, I'd assumed they would have been the first to ditch them.
  7. The only difference I noticed this year was that it seemed much darker in there than in previous years. When I rode it on Passholder weekend, I honestly couldn't see a darn thing. Normally I can make out a little bit of what's ahead. It's also possible that my eyesight has worsened over the past year.
  8. Dr. Fauci said yesterday that the risk from outdoor spread is "miniscule". I'm glad Cedar Fair is following the science. This is great news.
  9. So far this off-season, I've gone to Six Flags Over Georgia, Dollywood, Busch Gardens Tampa, and Universal. I would go crazy waiting around for 6 months without getting on a coaster!
  10. Agreed. However, once everyone has been given the opportunity to be vaccinated, then it's on them. The anti-vaxxers can proceed at their own risk while the rest of us get on with our lives. Fauci says that could be as early as May or as late as July. I don't think we'll still be wearing masks by the time of the haunt in October (especially outdoors.....where spread is extremely rare to begin with). I've never been to passholder night before. I'm assuming they will be extremely crowded?
  11. Ride times yesterday were some of the best I've experienced in a long time. Arrived at 10:30, waited about 15 minutes for Orion. I ended up riding it 4 more times throughout the day never waiting more than 5 minutes. Between 11-1, The Beast was a walk-on (the app said 60 minutes), Diamondback was about 5 minutes (the app said 30 minutes), Mystic Timbers was 10 minutes (the app said 90!!), and Stunt Coaster about 10. The Bat was pretty much a walk-on throughout the day (at least the few times I was down there), Banshee was about 5 minutes. The longest wait the whole day for us was Diamondback at around 4:00 where we waited about 20 minutes. I'm not sure exactly why wait times were so low, but I'm guessing that a combination of being the weekend after a holiday and the start of NFL season. I think The Racer might be closed for the season?
